    From the questions... Pen G has 2 ways of administration (IV and IM) not "only" IM, when you do IV you are not going through the muscle to get the vein. Thank you for your time and amazing videos!!

    Another easier way to remember Ester vs. Amides is that all Amides have 2 "i's" in the name and "liver" also has an "i"....just thought I would throw that out there for anyone

    piperocaine is the only ester anaesthetic which is exceptional to this "i" rule as inspite of having two ''i" , it is still an ester....and not an amide.

    I'm a little confused by question #4. In your videos we reviewed that Pen G can be given by IV but in the question it says "ONLY intramuscular". Also, I ampicillin is given by IV or IM so I assumed the answer was ampicillin.

    Thanks for the shortcuts for Epi. Does that mean the shortcut for 1:50,000 would be 0.036mg per carpule?

    "phenidate" or "etamine" is some sort of stimulant drug.

    Hey, in the antibiotics video, it was specified in 'prophylaxis for Infective endocarditits' that Ampicillin is given via IM & IV when we have to choose a non-oral route, I am confused. Can someone explain!

    Hello,.. I just want to drop my experienced here and I need advice please,. I was a nurse in the ER and the GP doctor ordered omeprazole IV and primperan IV,. She said mix the omeprazole in 300 ml of normal saline then if it is 100 ml then mix the primperan metoclopromide,. Is it acceptable to mixe two medicines in IV fluid? This is my first time and I’m working in the private,. My concern is most of our patients are VIP mean high educated,. Thanks

    Took me a while but he skipped a step on when calculating epinephrine concentration. - He converted 1.8 mL-->1800mg and then multiplied it by .000005.

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  2 роки тому +1

      18mg came from the 1% mentioned on the last slide, which can be applied to every calculation problem. The epinephrine is reported at a concentration of 1:100,000 which is the same as saying 0.001%. 1% is to 18mg as 0.001% is to 0.018mg.

    Question No. 6:
    Erythromycin and Clindamycin are bacteriostatic and Penicillin is bactericidal. What about that? I'm confused...

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  4 роки тому +1

      Cross-allergenicity is when you have an allergic reaction to two different agents with similar chemical structures. You are correct that Erythromycin and Clindamycin are static and Penicillin is cidal. Cephalosporins are also cidal, giving you a hint that Penicillin is perhaps more similar to that than the other two drugs. Penicillin and Cephalosporin cross-allergenicity has been studied for many decades.
