Not much of the (first) ride, as the title suggested. Except a few video fragmets taken on the motorcycle, which were appearing in a form of flashbacks, and without the sound, presenter was just giving a lot of detailed info that can be found on the manufacturer's website. It was too generic for my taste, I felt like someone was reading a brochure to me. I wish there was more real, objective, riding experience "transferred" to viewers, with video, along with a big smile caused by the throttle response.
I must’ve watched hours and hours of motorcycle reviews on UA-cam but this is the most objective, well presented review I’ve ever watched. King regards from Barcelona!
I'm right there with ya. What makes it worse at least for me is my company is/was afraid of loosing people so they gave everyone a $3 raise and then still had people job hopping for more money so they gave everyone another 7% raise like 8 months later hoping to keep people. Got all excited to buy some cool stuff finally and then manufacturers moved the bar out of my reach again.
Dont get drawn into the ducati trap. The previous model is better. Just cause its v4 doesn't make it better. After all it runs on 2 cylinders most of the time anyway. Ducati get in your head making you think you need something you dont
I'm trading in my red 1260s for this and it should be arriving later this month. I love the 1260s but there are quite a few reasons for the change. I wanted the bike to stay relevant, the service intervals and removal of the desmodromic valves makes sense, the turn-by-turn nav, the bigger display, the styling is slightly better, especially the fact that there's now no "ugly" left-hand side, the cleaner rear seat with the folding pillion pegs brought back and I'm in love with the rear seat cowling.
This isn’t going to be a popular opinion, but I appreciate the design of this new generation. It’s fresh, it’s streamlined, it feels lighter, more modern. I’d happily own this bike.
Despite my obvious Rocket bias, it's a smart bike Rob. I would say comparing to the XDiavel before was not going to give you the best comparison. Encourage you to try the last 1260S Diavel. I think Ducati are distracting us with peak power as the new V4 is down on torque to the LTwin which felt very lively. Shaving weight has helped keep the perf figures broadly the same. Have to say it sounds more Dyson than Diavel. Who knows I may end up with one but found a) I don't need all that power and b) I'd rather have a naked for chopping up twisties. Will be interesting to see if it's comfortable on longer trips because the last gens were simply not, especially for bigger riders.
I have a 21 triumph rocket 3. and love it. thinking of adding this to my stable ! looks sounds and has all the makings of a great bike for big guy like me . 😁😁
Bob, I just saw my good buddy 650iB's video and you and him must have been on the same group tour ride in Dubai !!! I lived there for about 70 days when I was traveling and living in 13 different countries about 10 years ago and it's an amazing place to be and experience....
You're a professional, sir 👀 well detailed and only 8 minutes, that's win win. Ty for your time, good/expensive ride 👌 oh and BTW, just subscribed. Sincerely
Once i pay my mercedes off, Im buying myself one. The diavel has always been my dream bike. Stepped into the ducati family with a Hypermotard, Absolutely love my hyper
Good review. Still on the fence. Will have to wait til I see and hear one when they land here in Australia. Wish they had a cheaper exhaust upgrade like they did for the 1260. $9K plus install here in Australia.
@@jupiter22177 Now $10K + here now plus install. Sounds Bloody Good Though, way better than the stock on the this bike. Hopefully there will be other alternatives soon.
@@desmodougie10024 yeah dealer told me cheaper / termi exhaust is WIP, which i understand isn't available just yet... will still probably be a few grand; i'd be happy with just the tip / baffles out for some more tone, doesn't really need that much i.e. the racing would be excessive on a long ride.
If i had no bike I’d shortlist an upright style Ducati V4, but for now I’ll stick with my old 996 with its paltry 127hp (but bags of torque for my urban needs)..
Always loved the tail lights on the Diavel. I bought a super Duke evo over the Aprilia and Streetfighter cuz of the headlight. I love different vs me too! Tempted to buy this bike
If i had no bike I’d shortlist an upright style Ducati V4, but for now I’ll stick with my old 996 with its paltry 127hp (but bags of torque for my urban needs)..
For the record I rode a Honda VFR 800 Vtec years ago , which only shut off 2 valves ,not 2 pistons , it felt like it was knackered , it was like it had a misfire and just cleared up a 5000 rpm , it scared me for life , something I never got over , and it probably killed off the vfr , also I hadn’t noticed my Ducati 1260 didn’t have a trellis frame the same as my Ducati gen 1 , I probably thought I’d bought an xdiavel and hadn’t noticed or the bike shop swapped bikes when it was in for a service , I’ll have to take more notice next time , I buy a bike 🏍🏍👍👍
Excellent point about limited riding on closed roads they missed the bad vibrations on bmw X-R as no motorway riding. Looks awesome shame Ducati are making the exhaust price stratospheric . You didn’t speak about panniers fittings on rear ? Any bike over 20k also means all insurance companies refer back to insurers and in lon may mean no cover within reasonable price
I reckon it’s a stunning machine but it now crossed the border between an expensive bike, even very expensive, and a crazy priced bike that falls in the same category of the likes of MV, not even thinking about an S version with electronic suspensions and the rest. I did my best with a Superduke Evo, now that I tasted the exclusivity I’ll probably step back once I’ll feel a need to change. It’s nice to see that this escalation of prices doesn’t appeal to me anymore ✌️
Sir, are the Ducati scramblers 2023 test ride available already? Waitin for your test ride reviews on those bikes especially the 2023 full throttle and nightshift☺️
Well, I’ve come into some Money Not a kings ransom, but enough to get this. However, I’m a complete beginner, and was wondering if you would recommend this? You obviously know a great deal about Ducatis so would really value your advice!
I believe it was Bike world with acceleration trials Diavel and Triumph Rocket 3. Diavel is a super fast bike in disguise. A cvo Harley is underpowered in comparison even with the stage 4 mods, $$$$.
Some beautiful machines In the Triumph range, lovely colours , this red metallic is lovely , I would prefer to have the Bluetooth connection and cruise control should not be an option many manufacturers fit it as standard, Tank size is OK, for Sunday rides ,but too small for the longer trips, Still a stunning bike, ✨️
More automobile emissions tech filtering down to motorcycles. VVT, some bikes with forced induction, hybrid versions arriving and full electric motorcycles. Cylinder deactivation, all cylinders on car, traffic lights and drive-through‘s. I believe just rear cylinder deactivation more for emissions/mileage as liquid cooled bikes still have hot liquid cooling. I can see rear cylinder deactivation maybe in air cooled bikes.
😄😄😄 I have seen heating systems smaller than the exhaust system. I'm not up on the long-term effects on the engine of those cylinder deactivation systems. Would it have a tendency to carbon up the rear cyclinders over time . I also wonder about how much spray the rider would get when riding in the rain with that clean rear end? I'd like to hear more when longer rides are done in regular road riding conditions.
Not really understanding why the performance is any better than the 1260 Diavel (or X Diavel) twin which makes about the same HP and a bit more torque?
Yes! I would be very interested to know more about this bike? I travel the Ozark back road with lots of curves and bens in the roads so I want something that I can use on these snake road and be able to lean into the curves with ease and be comfortable while touring the many miles of back country roads!! Will this bike do that and some???
Truthfully it seems over night all the top Halo bikes have jumped across the $20,000 mark. Harley’s still need a stage 2-4 to be competitive with less safety stuff standard like stability control and IMu
A V4 you do not need to decide do I want torque OR horsepower. V4’s give both. Plus lighter bike means less torque needed V4’s similar to triples with midrange torque and high horsepower rpm
Hats off to you Rob for not producing the same video as everyone else - great work as ever....

So true

Ducati never fail to stun me with their bikes, all is so good looking
I like it so much that I put down a deposit last month. Can’t wait till April when she arrives!
PERFECT! That's what I think of it and your breakdown was the BEST on YT that I've seen, Well Done. Cheers from Jamaica.
