It always bothers me that there’s even minimal gutter loss. Why can’t they just add an extra centimeter of paper to adjust for the sown binding…. Thus having zero loss. Still a very beautiful book. Will probably pick this one up.
There have been better stories from these two collaborators, but I don’t think Tim Sale has done any better art than in DD:Y. He was at his artistic peak. You can get lost in his ink wash city scapes. Thanks for another great overview Uncanny Omar.
@@litewait633 it's not like you can't get the stories someplace else... I agree with the OP, those borders look like ass. It's all down to personal preference, but with the fact that there are other editions of this stuff out there, no big deal.

That's a massive book! I love the collaboration of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. I miss Tim Sale. Thank you so much Omar for this wonderful overview of the book. I WILL definitely get this one for sure.
Im definetly getting this! I Have the spider-man edition from these two guys and my favorite Batman of all time is the Omnibus from these two guys so this Daredevil is a must have!
Definitely getting this. Long gave up on a reprint of the combined hardcover or finding one at a decent price so 4 individual galleries it is although I really do not like those page borders at all.
Such a gorgeous oversized book, BUT THOSE PAGE BORDERS ARE ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS!!! WTF are they thinking? I got the Spidey book and my heart sank so far when I opened it. "Gallery" denotes something more timeless that doesn't look like it has advertising banners on every page. What an extreme disappointment. I love the oversize art and would have bought them all, but I just can't. 😓
The only thing I don't like about this version and all the collected versions of Daredevil Yellow is the redone colors. They really washed out the original deep watercolors. Smoothed out a lot of the texture that came along with it. It's a huge shame because I would love to get this but I can't with the 'new' colors.
Why are there these disgusting and distracting borders on EVERY page? I thought these books were supposed to be the Marvel equivalent of Absolutes? The paper quality is far thinner…so far, these gallery editions are a huge disappointment
I agree, either make the damn book the appropriate size for the artwork, or just center the artwork in the middle of a white page and have it float there. Stop with these borders. Really distracting when you are reading. And looks tacky AF
I agree! I said the same after the Spider-Man Blue Gallery Edition. If it has to do with the art like Marvel says, then at least change the dimensions of the book and get rid of the boarders. You can make the book as big as you want but it doesn’t mean anything if the art on the inside is not the same.
This is one of my all time favourite Daredevil stories. Such a great love letter to the character.

They really should reprint them. I managed to find a used copy of Weapon X in decent condition. It may be the most beautiful book I own. It’s unreal.

I thought the Spidey DM Gallery Edition had a black spine, not blue 🤔

The yellow borders is aweful! I passed on the Kirby the King huge book because every page has blue borders.
