Love the kite page and scattered snowflakes pages most. All so beautiful! Love watching you make base pages!
Thanks Nancy… those were fun times make! Glad you enjoyed them. ~Melanie
This has to be the best base page video I have ever seen! LOVE this! BRAVO!
Thanks Tina. Glad you enjoyed it! ~Melanie
I love how you showed the scraps and then what you made with them.
Thanks Cilla… I’ve had similar feedback from others so I’m thinking it’s going to be my go to approach ~Melanie
Fun! Great pages. I love the last collection.
Thanks Jo! ~Melanie
Your base pages are so pretty. It’s amazing what you can do with scraps.
Thanks Glenda. I’m always amazed how far the can stretch… and I’m trying to use them up not trying to make as much possible so I can only guess how many more pages I could create if I was more “frugal” ~Melanie
MY FAVORITE KIND OF VIDEO! Melanie, you are a master! I love base pages but never feel creative enough to give it a go, so I end up with beautifully matched up paper kits. I’m going to re-watch and use your designs to put some together because all of yours are amazing. I did think the kite scene was creative and so cute; loved the fringed grass! Looking forward to Part 2!
So glad to hear Suzie! Glad you enjoyed and yes… pull inspiration where you can. ~Melanie
Oh man! Im so glad to discover your channel!! Ive been watching base page videos, searching for inspiration, and maybe I just have ADHD, or something (😆), but they bore me to death taking forever to talk through their thought process, and digress into other stories and topics. At the end of forty agonizing minutes, we only have 5 pages made. YOU, have held my attention with fascination. You were quick to show us what scraps you had to work with, and then cut right to what you did with them. THIS was inspiring. Thank you! And you got so much done. 😊
I’m so glad you liked the format Laurie. I was struggling with some autofocus issues but I’m glad you were able to appreciate it despite that. ~Melanie
These are fantastic!
Thanks Tania ~Melanie
Bam! And just like that your scraps turned into base pages! I enjoyed seeing these and I am going to consider them sketches and save on my playlist to come back to later and make a batch of base pages once I accumulate a good pile of scraps. I absolutely adore your kite and cloud scene! That was a wowzer. Looking forward to part 2.
There are a couple of others that mentioned treating them like sketches. I love that! ~Melanie
Thank you! Really enjoyed the video!
Thanks Tracey. Appreciate you leaving me a nice comment. ~Melanie
WOW - you got A LOT of base pages made!!! LOVE them ALL!!! Some of my favorites were when you fuzzy cut the edge. I have my scraps sorted by color. I'm considering tossing them into a bin. Maybe I'd reach for them more?!?!?
Thanks Kathleen. I am loving this intentional use of scraps vs just storing them and limiting (sort of 🙄) to the one iris bin has helped me periodically clear them out. Boy do they sure add up quick. ~Melanie
Amazing base pages! You really used those scraps! I make embellishments or I use a sketch that uses up scraps. Then I make a few cards. I am still not wrapping my mind around base pages. I think that I would struggle with photo placement. Like other things I should try it and it gets easier ❤😀
I’m hoping to do some videos coming up in using the base pages. For me it’s all about the matching process. Right number of photos/colors/themes etc. I actually find the ones that have designated photo placement to be more restrictive and challenging than the ones without. I think that other key to make them work depends on your process and what you enjoy, your style and how you like to scrap. I tend to only make base pages from scraps (although I also do lump in layouts I make from classes) and as such even if I never get around to using them they for the most part were just scraps and I had fun putting them together so it’s not a loss in my eyes. But they are not for everyone so don’t feel pressured to go down this route. Btw… using sketches to use up scraps is a great idea. I had actually though to pull out some Alison Davis sketches because hers at often well suited to scraps but I opted to wing instead. ~Melanie
I really enjoyed watching you put together these base pages and am considering doing the same. I am wondering... how do you store them, and how often do you reach for and use them? Do you have videos showing how you use and complete pages from your previously put together base pages?
Great questions Kathleen. I store them in a basket weave bin I purchased from Target. So they are stored upright so I can flip through them fairly easily (although the bin is overflowing right now). I tend to be doing things in batches and I’m about due for a session to use some up. I tend to lean towards these when I have a bunch of random odds and end photos printed that I just want to get scrapped quickly. I like doing them as a batch because I usually grab my die cut/sticker binders and can pull for multiple layouts at the same time, also speeding up the process. I do have to make a conscious decision to focus on using them. I have a playlist that shows more base pages intermixed with videos where I use them to make final layouts. Base Pages

Hey! Is this the first video you did about making base pages? :)
I have a playlist of different base pages made as well as me using them. Base Pages
