I find embellishments the hardest to organize... the variety, bulkiness and volume can all be overwhelming. I had some travel embellishments that didn't fit from my last organizing video which means it's time to declutter.

Like you said, it’s a beginning. I think you did great. This type of of organizing just overwhelms me.
The whole category of “embellishments” is overwhelming. I’m trying really hard to just focus on one small part of it at a time and not think too big picture. I start to spiral if I do. We’ll see how I do. Worse case I move on to something else 😬… like 6x6 paper pads 🤔~Melanie
I love all those travel embellishments! It’s my favorite category as I use it as my “neutral” to replace things like flowers bows butterfly’s - I just use reveal themes instead for those ideas and themes I don’t like.
Love that idea of using them as everyday embellishments ~Melanie
Pretty BIG purge!!! Purging duplicates makes sense. I might have to consider that. Your bins and binder look GREAT!!! Looking forward to this series!!!
Thanks Kathleen. I hope it translates well… we’ll see how it goes. ~Melanie
Awesome declutter. A big task to tackle but you're right, one small pile at a time. Way to go!
Thanks Jo Jo. I’m trying really hard to keep it focused because of if I think big picture the task seems monumental. ~Melanie
Great job. I like the sticker binder also, but I have a bad habit of opening up new stickers. I need to go for the binder, more often. Heck, I generally make them old looking anyway when I put them in my junk journals. 😁
I like the way your thought process works, when you organize. You make everything so efficient.
I probably will never get rid of ephemera. I use every sort in journals and cards and the one scrapbook I am making.
I am looking forward to watching your ephemera organization.
So what is it about a new sticker sheet that you are drawn to be the binders? I also have new sticker sheets separated and am all over the place in how I pull supplies (but that’s why I have different methods). I especially love the binders for ephemera or die cuts. Almost turns them into sticker sheets. ~Melanie
I sort by theme…birthday, summer, spring, winter, Christmas, fall, Halloween, travel, school, etc. I keep each theme in separate so when I’m working on a themed layout, I just grab the container of that theme and all the papers and embellishments of that theme are together. It would take me forever and be very distracting to keep all stickers, no matter the theme, together. 😊
Pretty much why I sort in themes. If I had more space I’d spread things out a bit more but it is what it is. Thanks for sharing ~Melanie
❤❤❤
Thanks Sofia ~Melanie
I purged my travel section awhile back. I had and probably still do have more than I could ever use. Guess I’ll have to start traveling more. lol! I have tried the binder system and it just doesn’t work for me. I never seem to reach for them. Glad it works for you.
I hope you didn’t invest too much time in setting up the binder system. Are you glad you at least tried? I have tried many different systems over the years and I always learn something about myself even if it doesn’t work so I’m always glad I at least tried. But I do try and not invest too much much time and effort into something new until I’ve “sample” tried it. ~Melanie
Good for you on knowing what works for you. I have tried the binder system and I just do not go back to it. I have a sticker binder I need to deconstruct I think 😂. I work better keeping like items in bins so I can quickly thumb thru them. Seeing items help me use items, too.
That’s the key to organizing I think…. To know what works for you. I absolutely hate packages of die cuts that have to sort through and I don’t like that I can’t see what have easily when in packages but I know many people that love to dig around and the “discovery” of the perfect embellishment is fun for them. The binders definitely take effort so it won’t be for everyone. I do also have bins of stickers and like the flipping aspect so that also works because I just don’t seem me transferring full sheets of stickers to the binders. So a little bit of everything seems to be my style. 🤔~Melanie
@ I got the card you sent. Thanks, Melanie!
A huge task! Great start! Will you explain how you organize your embellishments, you probably have but I cannot remember. You have theme bins and binders. Do you have color bins or binders? When you are looking for an embellishment for a layout or a card where do you start or look? 😀❤
Color binders… and colored bins for loose items yes but I don’t like to dig so these are not the best fit for me but sometimes I’m not feeling like doing the full on organizing and I’ll use a bin temporarily until I am. I think one of the upcoming videos will touch on this. As for my process I talk a little about this also in an upcoming video… not sure if I cover everything you asking but be in the look out for that and if not let me know and I’ll probably do a follow up one. ~Melanie
You do you. However, if I had that much stuff in my craft room, I wouldn't be able to breathe or sleep at night. Lol
You are not the only one. I know many would feel overwhelmed. I have the exact opposite response. My problem is I get excited and inspired by all the possibilities and just don’t have the time. Maybe when I retire??? ~Melanie
A big job to tackle! You are doing great! Will you explain how you organize embellishments, you probably have and I don't remember. You have embellishment bins and binders by theme. Do you have color binders or bins? Do you group things together into birds, butterflies, hearts?
When you are searching for embellishments for a layout how and where do you look? Is the process different when searching for a card embellishment?
To explain my embellishment organization I would probably need to video, lol! 😀❤
I’m going to try and cover some of the answers to your questions as I go through all my embellishments. I do keep a mix. I do by theme (similar to cardstock themes) and I have the Iris bins to store some of those. I also have the binders which are by color and theme. And I do have just regular bins which I tend to store my “everyday” non thematic embellishments in. So far I haven’t micro managed into sub themes… well maybe a couple of exceptions for something like cameras or labels. ~Melanie
OMG You have one canoe 2. I would buy what you are purging of that line line! I have the paper but no embellishments
I seem to have collected a bit of it. There will be a give away at some point so stay tuned for that. ~Melanie
I think you did a terrific job. I have a question... what size are those Iris bins? I bought one & for some reason it didn't fit in my Kallax.
Off hand I don’t know the exact measurements but I would say they probably 13” plus as they easily fit 12x12 cardstock and they have some edges and curves to the exterior. I don’t keep these in my kallax… and I don’t think they would fit. Not sure if I ever tried because mine came in a cart that I stack in my closet. For the kallax I use bins I purchased from the Container store (and now Target as they have ones that are pretty much exactly the same). They aren’t 12”’tall but I do like them for cardstock. I have also stacked some of the iris bins in my closet in the top shelf for longer storage (not ideal) but those are the only ways I’ve used them. Not much help I’m afraid. ~Melanie
@@ACreativelyCraftedLife Thank you... actually a cart I can stash in my closet & roll out when I need it would work well.
