TAKA has a relationship with Linkin Park Chester and has acted as the opening act for a concert. The silence in this song is said to be a silent prayer for him.
taka has said it in an interview, " our music video were just a promotion for our concert, come and always hangout with us. the real deal is the concert "
At that concert, TAKA couldn't get his voice out the way he wanted, and after that he cried. We fans, who don't know the background, were just moved by TAKA's voice.
I'd imagine this song is pretty personal for him - he's got a complicated family situation. In short, his parents were both famous singers and they divorced when Taka was in his teens. They were also opposed to him doing music, and his father disowned him at 16. He ran away from home and worked/slept in restaurants until he met Toru (guitarist) who invited him to join his band. One ok rock has another song that's directly related to Taka's experiences with his family - it's called Nobody's Home and it's very emotional as well.
This is one of their best live performance! I am glad that you're reacting to this! If you can find, I really like Clockstrikes live performance. The recent ones (like, from Field of Wonder), not sure if you're able to find any on UA-cam, Taka literally killed it with his long notes. Check out their Studio jam too! they are so good! Otherwise, their songs like: Mighty Long Fall, Cry Out, Pierce, Fight the Night (Orchestra live esp). And Taka's cover of Adele's Hello is soooooooooooooo GOOD!
I just missed this tour so much. I flew from Taiwan to Fukuoka, Japan for this exact same tour in April 2018 and it's without a doubt the BEST memories of my entire life and the BEST live performance that I've experienced from them. I didn't like the wrist light at first but when the concert begun it glows inside the enormous dome like a galaxy and it's one of the most beautiful thing that I've experienced in my life. I remember the happy crazy screaming sound when I got inside the dome that got me goosebumps, the 4,2000 crazy fans were all devoted to the concert singing together as one. The light effects and everything were just perfect. I just feel so happy that I went to this tour and I'll always remember it.
Each of their performances brings its own special flavor. Try "Stand Out Fit In" at Orchestra Japan Tour. Just FYI that this concert was the first time they publicized the song so the audience was hearing it for the first time and didn't know how to respond, but the orchestra is 👌👌👌
They are amazing, right?!?! God, I really think they are born to perform on stage, they love to have crowd to participate in their performance, it's like the audience is part of the band ✨✨ My favourite live performances are "Nobody's home" and "C.h.a.o.s.m.y.t.h" from Nagisaen concert , these two are very meaningful to Taka, he wrote the first one for his parents (He had runaway when he was young because his parents didn't want him to become a singer, but after witness how much effort Taka put in music, they are supporting him now, so Taka wrote this song to thank his parents.), and the second one is for his friends, each character of the song title is taken from his friends names, it's a heart warming song❤️❤️
If you want to see something different I recommend I was King (Orchestra Japan Tour) or something from their studio jam session like Heartache or Taking Off. I'm not a fan of covers in general but Taka's cover of Hello (Adele) is an exception - his control and voice range are mind blowing. I can talk for hours about how amazing they are, but I want to point out one thing. Even if they perform in some crappy club in Central Europe for 1000-1500 people, they give it their all. I heard them live for the first time in a place like that and it was crazy. I literally felt like I was at a concert with a 30,000 crowd. I really admire their dedication to music and fans.
ohno, prepare yourself you'll be surprised in every song you react to 🤣 I recommend I was king orchestra live, Clock Strikes xxxv japan tour 2015, Cry Out live japan dome tour, or One by One live at saitama. either of these, they're all good 💖
So I just got done watching your reaction to the two recently streamed one ok rock video's, I have never paid any attention to them as I'm fully immersed in the all female band's from Japan, having said this, what a vocalist! This is not my genre to go searching for but I know greatness when I hear it, maybe I'll expand a little more, after all 6 year's ago I didn't know any Japanese music or artist's, Arigatou Gozimasou for introducing me to them.
The original version of this song was written by OOR and 5 seconds of summer. The recording version is definitely more upbeat. Taka's parents did go through a divorce. They are very public people in the music industry in Japan. This concert was in 2018 shortly after the untimely death of Chester Bennington, who was good friends with taka and OOR. They were planning on touring together. Its been said that the long silence was in honor of Chester. At the end, he thanks the audience for the given respect allowed. They have been together since 2005 so like 18 years. The two members that were friends before the creation of the band were Toru guitar and Ryota base. They were originally a 5 member band but they quickly realized realized who will stay. The rasp in Taka's voice that's not usually there was due to him not feeling well that day, yet it made the song so much more emotional. Frankly, kudos to him for performing the full 2h+ show while feeling unwell, without making it feel like it was in any way inferior to their other live performances when everyone was in tiptop condition. They were supposed to tour with Linkin Park, but Chester's sudden death prevented that from happening. I heard that this concert is a memorial concert for Chester and the long silence in the song is a prayer for Chester.
Taka and the band is amazing. I went for their concert 3 times in Singapore and have always enjoyed going to their concert. Tried various standing/seating position. They are the kind of band where you can be standing or seated anywhere and still feel the emotions in both the voice and instrumental. No tuning. Super ORGANIC!! So beautiful and worth every money spent watching their concert! :) You should look at his family background. Just loving his voice! :D
It's my favorite live performance of this song, it's not that I want to see Taka physically in pain, but I think the fact that he is not really feeling well that day made the necessary emotions needed to this song. The hurt and pain. Everytime Taka sing this song he's always emotional but here it's much more emotional than it was before, he's not acting in here, those were real tears of pain since his throat is burning like hell as he sung that night. He still pushed through his limits because he doesn't want to disappoint this huge crowd and still delivered an outstanding performance.
Takas ability to control his audience is something I've never seen before 55,000 people in that stadium and silence, I was able to witness this recently (not the same song) but it's so incredible.. I really hope I get to see him perform in Japan someday
iam telling you everytime i listen to this song i always got chill all over my back not just because Taka's voice is amazingly good, but also the he audience too,the ability to control the audience to become part of the concet it self is amazing, not many band can do that, but One Ok Rock is one of those who can do such thing with ther audience and that is really rare to found in a band ESPECIALLY in rock/metal band.i reccomand you to chack out live version of CLOCK STRIKE and Lets take it Someday by One Ok Rock the audience control on the video ia also amazing and ofcourse taka voice is awesome.
He really has a complex relationship with his parents, which is why I think so many people can connect to the emotion in his songs. Their old song, Nobody's Home, was what he described as an apology song to his parents and Hard to Love was one he wrote years later for his father. It's just beautiful to see how he tries to move forward in their music, and his life with him actually reconnecting with his father and even using his last name again.
Haha, I love watching people react to that long pause 😁 It's makes it all the sweeter when Taka comes back in. It's so freaking good! Those vocals, that emotion coming through, the band just killing it! The crowed! Everything is . . . just epic stuff. 🤘
And I’ve heard mentions about this particular performance. Supposedly his throat was bothering him a lot at this show and they almost didn’t do this song because of that but it came of so incredibly emotional it’s amazing.
OOR is indeed at the top level when it comes to their music and live performance. moreover they have been together for a very long time, their cooperation and brotherhood are also very close, not just 'contracts, business and colleagues'. If you have time, please also check MY FIRST STORY. Their vocalist Hiro, is Taka's youngest brother. Even though the band (MFS/MyFass) is not as big as OOR (like worldwide) but they are quite a popular band in Japan and good enough to follow and appreciate.
Since you really like Tomoya (the drummer) and his drum set, you'd really love their live video "Taking Off - Tomoya's Drum Ver." The whole video is watching him drum through the song!
Such an incredible live! Unfortunately the one time I've seen them live I was battling food poisoning and barely remember it haah. If you want crowd singing that doesnt quit for a Jrock band, Endless Rain by X Japan (last live) goes on forever and is awesome.
WAAAH loved to see you react to one of their songs~ hoping you would too to their other songs~ To their new release album "Luxury Disease" and their other album and songsss pleasee yiiieh~
He's both crying and losing his voice at this point in the concert cuz I think this is the middle or end part of the concert and they performed around 20 during the concert but he gets emotional during sad songs alot sometimes 💜
I fear getting too attached to bands just incase they end up assholes but man its hard not to feel united and genuinely loved when listening to one ok rock
Taka and One Ok Rock are the best band out there today! The only other singer I know who can control a crowd like this is Toshi of X Japan. Please check out this song, Rusty Nail from Lunatic Fest. ua-cam.com/video/MG-Zk1dvzj0/v-deo.html Absolutely incredible!

He dissatisfied with his performance.
Yes, he’s on another level 🤣
Taka and his high standard for himself. And he even said he is even more meticulous in his cooking, idk what he does to his food. 😂
@@PaigeGaming19 apparently he made a caramelized onion for 2 hrs to make curry for Takeru 😂😂😂

“Invited him to join the band” I’d say it’s more like stalked him until Taka had no choice but to join lol🤣
I read that he lived with his grandma when he quarrelled with this parents
Cry out , Wasted nights , Mighty long fall . All this song in live version you gonna luv it
This is one of their best live performance! I am glad that you're reacting to this!

Try i was king orchestra this going to blow your mind
This concert Taka was sick but his voice is still amazing.
Each of their performances brings its own special flavor. Try "Stand Out Fit In" at Orchestra Japan Tour. Just FYI that this concert was the first time they publicized the song so the audience was hearing it for the first time and didn't know how to respond, but the orchestra is 👌👌👌

Fight the night is one of the best. The lyrics will hit you like a bus.

I so love seeing more people finding these guys. Taka is truly god level vocals.

E YE OF THE STORM “wasted Night”That live makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a big wave of love!

As you said, OOR concert tickets are difficult to obtain, and those who were able to attend this concert were really lucky people.😂🇯🇵
Please react to them "Fight the night" orchestra version. This band is freakin awesome!
I'd recommend the live perfomance of 'When I Was King" with the orchestra backing them up. Thats one of my favorites and its beautiful.
Takas ability to control his audience is something I've never seen before 55,000 people in that stadium and silence, I was able to witness this recently (not the same song) but it's so incredible.. I really hope I get to see him perform in Japan someday
My favorite live performance of theirs that I’ve seen is Paper Planes live at Saitama Super Arena. It really encapsulates their energy so well.
Recommend One Ok Rock [Studio Jam session] and Orchestra ver. it so good.

When pure talents joined together = Priceless
Taka said its not his best performance and apologize, but this is actually one of my fav.
I cannot stop crying 😭
And I’ve heard mentions about this particular performance. Supposedly his throat was bothering him a lot at this show and they almost didn’t do this song because of that but it came of so incredibly emotional it’s amazing.
Personally it seems like there’s more going on there and Taka is known for weaving emotion into his songs and it sounds so good.
Awesome stuff. Hope you do more of One OK Rock!
