I have been using Windows 10 since 2018, and still in 2023 it's still one of the best stable operating systems.
Now having that said, I have been testing Windows 11 more precise Tiny11 on an old m.2 drive.
To my surprise it feels and runs even better than Windows 10 LTSC. Soon I will make my own Tiny11 with tools that are out there and go Fully Windows 11.
I hardly update my windows through a year, updating maybe 5 times in a year. And for sure I make an image clone of my C: partition every time.
I think more people should try out the tiny11 Windows as a test system and see what they think, I think many will like it with the Windows 10 UI mod.

On Distributed link tracking... what it does is keep track of shortcuts (symlinks), so if you move/rename the target of the shortcut to another location, it'll update the shortcut (or symnlink) to it. Useful? Not really since the EXPECTED behavior if you move/rename the target of a shortcut is to break the shortcut. But I can see it useful in an office environment using shared storage where you'd prefer that OTHER PEOPLE don't break YOUR shortcuts if they move/rename files.

LXDE/LXQT are really lightweight DEs also Debian/Fedora/ArcoLinux also am running on the potato pc fam. Would check the requirements and try to see what runs quickly on that era pc. Debian LXDE was still working well when one of my nvmes got loose by accident after cleaning, lxde as a de looks dated but it works. I took 10/11 off the old i3-2100 because I felt sorry for it. Not saying they 100% don't exist, but if they do (it's not like I played every single pc game out there), they'd REALLY advertise it... like it would be a BIG DEAL for them to instruct their users to set their audio to 24bit/48khz -- and I'm not aware of ANY devs/game studios/game publishers that do. It would be in the system requirements at least under "recommended".

Public service announcement: if you have a x3d CPU…DO NOT UNINSTALL GAMEBAR….idk what AMD cpu he is using but the x3d CPU’s rely on gamebar for controlling which ccd and cores to use on a per game and application basis. Getting rid of gamebar makes it like you only have a crippled non-x3d version of the CPU. Also anyone playing retro games do not uninstall Windows Media Player or Internet Explorer because some games relied on those for some functions. Even some more modern games might have issues with Edge being uninstalled tho that seems to have some work arounds.

A very good optimization guide, but the most annoying thing about windows 10 is the update service. It runs regardless of the settings and consumes a lot of resources. After many searching, I found stopupdates10 program that solved the problem once and for all.
And yes, another very good prgran that allows to optimize win10 is O&O. From ~150 processes I reached less than 100 processes and windows is perfectly functional and secure.

    • @outsidein3206
      @outsidein3206 Рік тому

      Hi
As an aside to O&O and their products, found to be very reliable, would reccomend.
      -
I recall using O&O's defragmentation back in windows XP days, there's likely a more current version of it, for spindle based 3.5in Hard Disk Drives. It had an awesome feature where the data would not only be defragmented but the more commonly used files where placed at the outer edge of the Disk.
So physically they were quicker seek times to access, with the idea being it sped up data read rates and thus the system. Seemed to be a positive thing back then. Highly recommended for those using a Older Hard Disc Drive with the disc platters in it. Especially if its a mixed storage drive with video files pictures and say an operating system on it, as in a single drive system situation.

All Dolby enabled games. Dolby for headphones won't even enable if you're above 24bit/96khz

@@spusuf Thanks, but is it that clear cut though? From what I understand atmos can be mastered in both 48KHz and 96KHz, with 96KHz support only landing relatively recently.

He didn't mention this warning so here you go:
Please do not defrag your SSD, it has no effect and can potentially decrease the lifespan of the SSD as well.
You should only defrag, if you're using an hard drive and not an SSD,
SSD's don't need to be defragged because it doesn't take long from it to travel from a location to another
where as compared to an HDD it sometimes is really slow so window's uses the RAM (memory)
To allow data to travel faster but in this case an SSD is built different
And also modern SSD's are smart to enough (usually) to maintain it's performance by deleting unused
    data blocks, and more
It will typically also set aside of it's capacity for the device/firmware use.
(This has to be done manually): you should uninstall and clear unnecessary file's and temp files
which'll help its performance and also increase space, which is one of the reasons why
larger SSD's are mostly better than smaller SSD's
    Hope this helped!

But you don’t need that for modern 12th and 13th gen intel processors because of the E cores. Many background processes will be running on E cores and performance cores will be used only for games or high performance applications

These videos are mainly for older computers. If you have a modern 13th gen or something like an amd 5800X3D, you dont need to do anything. focus on the graphics card :D

probably gpu limited in gaming and cpu limited while streaming. You could make sure in streaming settings to use quicksync instead of gpu/software encoding. You'd benefit from a gpu upgrade to something like a gtx 1070/1080 or a 1660ti if you can find one for cheap. The nvidia gpu could then also be your encoder for streaming as well but there will be times when you're cpu limited due to the older intel processor. Would bring a breath of fresh air into your build but I would suggest upgrading to something with 6 cores/12 threads at minimum in your next build.

@@TechMatticz Hy that's what I do quicksync for streaming and GPU for gaming but still the same problem

@@GamersSauce Ah, then I guess the next question comes down to if you are okay with your current performance. Even with a better gpu you might not see decent uplift if you're playing cpu demanding titles. I'd suggest listing locally for some money and perhaps building something for a little more money. I'd be happy to throw together a budget oriented build through pc part picker for ya if you'd wanna go down that route!
