Where the land was swampy, when the snow melts in Spring bodies just buried in the ground had a pretty high chance of getting washed out and into the water streams. So to save themselves from a sight of finding half rotten grandpa and the dying to diseases you were drinking from that grandpa, people did not actually use ground bureals. Instead a couple of trees were cut at about chest heights and those stumps were used as a foundation for a hut where dead bodies would be placed. The game is absolutely gorgeous. The starting scene, I thought it was a live action movie. It reminded me of the start of BioShock, with the fire in the water. Which, I sat with my character in the water, staring at the fire for 10 minutes before I realized that it was gameplay. I got the same feeling at the beginning of this game. It’s a great title. To me, it feels like a mix between BioShock and Half Life 2. Which is an awesome mix. The character designs, the open world and the overall design of the universe is just nuts. You can tell a lot of work went into getting the aura of the landscape down. It just feels good and plays well also. This is truly a gem in the GamePass library. It definitely has AAA production quality and is a blast to play. I can remember them talking about this game years and years ago. To the point where, I never thought it was going to come out. I’m glad it did, because it’s a definitive feather in the cap for Microsoft and game pass. When I first started playing it, I got Xbox 360 vibes. And I say that, because it’s been a very long time since we’ve gotten a new title that wasn’t a sequel or prequel to something. Something that the developer put themselves out there for. Which doesn’t happen very much anymore. In the Xbox and Xbox 360 era… we would get so many great games that took chances on new ideas and new stories. This is what Atomic Heart feels like to me. A breath of fresh air in an industry that has become stagnated by its own lack of ambition… going to the well, and fishing out another sequel of an established franchise… Simply because the name alone will sell the title. Very rarely taking those chances on new IP’s, that could become future franchises. So God bless the developer for taking that chance and bringing us this very cool title. As, we need more developers to take more chances on AA and AAA quality titles that don’t fit into the mold of what’s popular and trending at the moment. Believing in themselves and baking a new pie from scratch. As I had truly become bored over the past two generations, feeling like I’m playing the same titles over and over again with a new coat of paint. Simply because the money it costs developers to create modern AAA games, is prohibitive for them to take risks. Which is understandable, but it leaves us with a lot of me too titles. Between this and Age Of Empires 2, Mount & Blade II, Cities Skylines remastered, not to mention the upcoming Wo Long, the Show ‘23, Minecraft Legends and RedFall… then whenever the new Forza releases and everything else they have that is upcoming for Game Pass. This year has started off really strong and I’m really enjoying the titles a lot that they released since the end of last year and beginning of this. Yeah, you don't hear much about Wolfenstein these days, but this definitely reminded me so much of it. Both regimes have a certain style to them, both discovering technology far beyond their time in and around WW2. The difference in tactics is what really gets me. Robots and Ubersoldaten in Wolfenstein are built for war straight up, mirroring how the Third Reich just took over everything without even trying to disguise their intentions. The Communists in Atomic Heart are choosing a more subtle approach in their invasion, hiding their army behind the guise of maintenance and service robots, kind of like making an army out of Mr. Handy robots from Fallout 4.
I just wanted you to know I think you are one of the best gaming UA-camrs out there. Your production value is insane. It's on par with Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, the big dogs. I’ve just now started acknowledging some of the props in the desk-talk segments of your videos. Is that a CRT?! Is that a LANDLINE?! WHAT IS THIS DESK?!?!
There is something very cool about how most Bioshock style games will give you some kind of wrench or other handyman tool as your melee weapon, and Atomic Heart just goes nahhh, here's a HUGE AXE, GO WILD
The references to soviet culture are everywhere and as an ethnic Russian who grew up with those influences even in the US, it looks nostalgic as fug - some references may be lost on you tho - the evil pig character is Burzhui - a comic Bourgeoisie, and the cartoon immediately after is "nu pogodi" - basically translated as "well, wait a sec" among other things. The music is often remixed old soviet music. I haven't played video games apart from MOH, AOE2 and WOT, and even then that not in years, but I might buy this
I'm absolutely loving the game, I've seen people say the gameplay is sub par but I've had no problems myself so far! It definitely scratches that Bioshock itch for me but has its own twist which is soo good! 8:00 that's a hut on fowl's legs (Baba Yaga's hut, which has reference in Baba Zina);
11:13 that's professor Dowell's Head (written by Alexander Belyaev).
This feels like wolfenstein mixed with bioshock and I am 110% here for it
Yeah, you don't hear much about Wolfenstein these days, but this definitely reminded me so much of it.
To me it's mix of BioShock, Wolfenstein, Prey and Resident Evil
Works well
That one-handed shotgun animation kinda won me over honestly; that shit is crisp
This game is a visual masterpiece and only after that an actually good game with some minor downsides. A hell of a debut project!
Agreed. Some minor gripes but overall I find it very fun.
The boss fight track is called PT-1X12 but wasn't by Mick, Geoffrey Day composed that one. Gordon's tracks aren't available yet.
I just wanted you to know I think you are one of the best gaming UA-camrs out there. Your production value is insane. It's on par with Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, the big dogs. Which is why it doesn't make sense to me that you have such a small subscriber count compared to them. I think you deserve more recognition for your work and creativity.
Agreed I’ve been watching Indei for like 6 or 7 years now and out of everyone I’ve seen in the gaming sphere he’s hands down my favorite!
I remember when all of his video titles had to have SOULS in the title somewhere. Very different to now. He’s still pretty good at the content though.
This outro song takes me back. Love it as always
9:24 man this soundtrack is amazing
Ура, я так рада, что наконец-то кто-то из популярных ютьюберов прошёл Атомик! Спасибо за видео, Indeimaus!
И да, русская озвучка - идеальна
Each video he puts out just makes me more and more suspicious that he’s the *real* mastermind behind the correctional facility civvie is in.
The 'lady dimitrescu' effect is what is happening with the twins rn-
Man you are pumping out videos this year. Love your work man, keep the bangers coming
As someone who is terrified of mannequins and robots, this game is absolutely horrifying. (But I would totally watch you do a full playthrough.)
The aesthetics of this game is absolute fire, damn
I dont understand the critics tbh
This game looks incredible and the story is intersting
The references to soviet culture are everywhere and as an ethnic Russian who grew up with those influences even in the US, it looks nostalgic as fug - some references may be lost on you tho - the evil pig character is Burzhui - a comic Bourgeoisie, and the cartoon immediately after is "nu pogodi" - basically translated as "well, wait a sec" among other things. The music is often remixed old soviet music.
I haven't played video games apart from MOH, AOE2 and WOT, and even then that not in years, but I might buy this
baba yaga little robot house was so cute xD
I'm absolutely loving the game, I've seen people say the gameplay is sub par but I've had no problems myself so far! It definitely scratches that Bioshock itch for me but has its own twist which is soo good! The gunplay feels really good and I don't get why people hate the melee so much.. its better than it is in most games for me.
lol that "My God!" at 2:05, I feel ya, brother. I said the same thing as well. I imagine alot of us did, your tone, your level of awe, just the same haha
the difficulty selector is actually based off a old soviet program they had, that was like that the Pioneer Scouts, except with kompot instead of kiddy fiddling
it's based on gachimuchi meme
Just like indeimaus said: this is Mundfish's first game. I think we got ourselves a great video game company for the next decade, just saying
The old outro is back! This is the outro i remember when i first discovered your channel, feels like a long time
Absolutely stunning plot, action, vibes, and originality! Game of the year indeed. 10 out of 10/
yooo the hog 7 bossfight gave me a 'the incredibles' flashback. I have not thought once about that round machine with legs since, but as I watched this fight it all came back
6:37 I saw that one second freeze and just Indei's brain going "OH FUCK, THAT ONES GONNA FOLD ME LIKE A CAMPING CHAIR!" XDDDDD
The skill upgrade videos just sold me.
Just looking at the aesthetic of the game brings back a lot of my child memories
9:16 Fun fact: this was like the one boss theme that wasn't made by Mick Gordon
ngl just the fact that the game was finished is a surprise
It’s a damn shame that THATS the state of videogames these days.
7:30 It's water dispenser, we use them on dachas mostly.
Kudos to the editor for the very careful selective editing on That Scene. What was shown is only like, a quarter of the insanity...
Thank you so much for the editing, wanted to see your take on this and still enjoy my first playthrough.
"A little chicken house?"
Uh oh...Indei just found the Baba Yaga and it cursed for eternity.
I love the vibe of indeimaus videos
The twin robots are hot, don't get me wrong, but the vending machine gonna make me act up I swear
I tell ya everything Mick touches turns badass.
I really wanna see you do a full playthrough of this.
I always watch Indeimaus vids til the end to hear the absolute banger of an outro
That musician robot in the beginning was fucking banger dude
3:12 THERE IT IS HE SAID IT!! HE SAID THE THING!!
It's been 84 years...
Callisto protocol is inspired by dead space and atomic heart is definitely inspired by bioshock
I'm amazed by this game. The work of scenery is impressive, just the enemies that aren't all that. But the history, ambient and music are remarkable
Holy shit thanks yo your video i managed to find my childhood show Nu pogodi at 4:59. I thought I would never find it again but here it is.
It’s almost been two years since the Halo ce video you still haven’t given us that Halo 2 yet
I still have halo masterchief installed, it's only a matter of time!
Femdom vending machine is a kink that has now been awoken and i feel dirty
I just beat this yesterday, I enjoyed it a lot. Should’ve made more side missions though. The graphics were top 3 best this far.
7:59 - This Robo-House-Chicken is Reference to Baba Yaga, couse she lives in a house on big chicken leg.
holy shit it feels like its been so long since i heard "We Love to Party" for the outro. honestly, liking for that alone.
noice didnt expect a new video this soon!!!
Great stuff Indeimaus!!!!
This game made me realize that a Westworld game would go so hard. I need one ASAP 😩
0:42 Is that Neverhood music ! Fookin hell this takes me back a lot...
This is no more crazy than real life at this point.
The wolf and rabbit cartoon is called Nu Pogodi, they used to play it on TV when i was a kid, it's very funny. 😁
I love those live action video inserts. They remind me of games like myst. I wish there as more of it in gaming.
1:48 the music done by MICK GORDON.
I've seen so much negative reviews for this game from UA-camrs, but decided to make my own opinion and this game is great, has so much details, runs smooth has a great atmosphere and is just fun and refreshing aaaaand tall robot mommies
The negativity mostly comes from the anti-rus movement, since most of this soviet er stuff comes directly from mainland rus.(aka US is vilifying rus so every yt is paid to hate em at one point or another.)
@@tatfly5779 can't agree more. So many people I had trust in(like, Mark Rober or Johnny Harris) have been playing as a propaganda agenda for the past year, talking shit when it's inappropriate(like, so out of topic in relation to the video). This is mind boggling
Maybe, just maybe if Mundfish didn't take any money from Gazprom...
Oh well, time to pirate this game to not support war efforts of Russia.
@@tatfly5779 Russia does it to itself by its actions.
@@coldcoder3138 so did America a lot more times than any country in the world, never heard this kind of "outrage" against them.
...Why have I not heard of this?!
Man this game is cool as. As long as I have Russian voices on and not the cringy English dub, it’s such an awesome experience.
During the next video at 4:58, I believe this is a Russian cartoon about Volk y Zayats (Wolf and rabbit) called Nu, pogodi! ("I'll Get You!").
Just finished up this game yesterday. For anyone on the fence, I'd say it's worth it based just on astounding visuals, music, and story alone. I had a great time with it.
And the plot twists too. God damn they took me by surprise
4:58 for those who don't know, this is a real old soviet cartoon, called "Well, Just You Wait!".
This isn’t actually their first game, they made a few VR games in the same universe before this.
On Atomic Hearts video with a Falling in Reverse reference?
You really wanted to made the most February 2023 video ever.
I like how super man was a collective hallucination and Falling in reverse actually invented eye lasers
This game is Gorgeous. I had my doubts since Cyberpunk, but damn. I'm getting chills and shakes, and that's not just from the alcohol withdraws. LOL
“Looks like the music video for Falling in Reverse”
*watches someone gets cut in half with heat vision*
“Hey I know which video you’re talking about!”
This game reminds me of Bioshock a bit, if robots were much more prevalent. It's good to see it looks legitimately fun as well.
They it’s very cool they wear it on their sleeve too! At one point they even make a reference to rapture
