At the course, I found this lag feel yesterday and the swing was much more under control. Straighter/longer. Your video logically explained what I "discovered".
Hey Johnathan We love you over here at No Golf No Glory. We wish you were here in the US. You’re one of the best instructors on UA-cam and you actually can play Golf as well. 🫡 much love brother 🙌🏼❤️🙌🏼
A couple years ago I was working on my early extension and stumbled upon this. I was really feeling the hip move and I just naturally adjusted the tension in the joints & muscles of my upper body, arms, and hands to react to that, and THIS is what I ended up with. My 9i went from ~135 shot to ~160 literally within the course of 2 to 3 rounds (I hate the range). Well, being in Ohio, the end of the season came and I had to wait out the winter. I've been trying to get that feeling back ever since. I'm hoping this video does the trick, because it's literally everything I was doing. This sequencing is EVERYTHING to get you from a regular weekend warrior to that guy everyone in your league looks at as a great ball striker!
Great tuition - lag happens naturally with correct sequencing - I found you sequencing video one just the best !!!!!- weight shift is the key to start it all off - that happens for me almost as soon as it has all moved to my trail side (ie right at the start - almost before the club moves back!) - my lag is created naturally now!! not even thought about. - before club gets to waist height on backswing !- Wost ever advice given is you start your downswing by letting the club and arms drop - while the body stays back!!! just horrendous advice that a lot of pros taught in the 90's and beyond!!! really due to Faldo/Leadbeatter - and letting distance between right shoulder and clubhead increase straight away by straightening the arms!!! oh dear worse advice ever that. Loving the videos - Thank you - All are superb!!
If you watch the best pros and javelin throwers - there is a lot in common- weight starts shifting to lead side as soon as it has moved to trail side- it flows!!! Golf swing is very similiar to throwing a javalin or a ball- sequencing/weight shift/lag much the same.
I returned to golf after 30 years in 2021. At age 53, I naturally figured out this lag technique after playing a lot of golf over the past year. It was explained in other video's but not as well as you explain. Until I understood that tiny fling backward of the wrist on the downswing along with that slight forward movement, lag meant nothing to me. It's such an important concept/game changer for a beginner to grasp. Keep up the excellent videos.
Thanks Jonathan, since yesterday I’ve watched a lot of your tutorials. You are my go to at the moment. Can’t wait to try your methods on the range. I’m returning back to golf after 15 years. Would you be able to advise a plan of what to work on. At the moment it feels like I’m having to learn most things again. I’ve had one lesson working in my take-away.
A good demonstration of a natural, feel player’s flow. That is what we all want. But since there is no full backswing where to club gets to the top, this is a little tap. Many pros pause to the point of stopping at the top and still lag and boom the ball. For essentially all of us, anywhere near this level of sloppiness is a club out of control and a bottom point unknown.
Great explanation, as always 👍🏻 Is hinging an INTENTIONAL move? … or is lag merely a NATURAL byproduct of the downswing? Seems the more hinging you do, the more the left wrist CUPS (which opens the clubface and makes it difficult to flatten the left wrist). I feel I’m too HANDSY in the swing … that is, I think I try to control the clubface (thus restricting my HIT) instead of letting it go and “slinging” it. 🤷🏼♂️ I think I try to manipulate the hands and wrists in an effort to square the clubface. Doesn’t work. The wrists are too weak, the club is too heavy and the downswing is too fast. I’d love to see a video about squaring the clubface. What, in your opinion, is more important? PATH or CLUBFACE?
A naturally athletic person will tell you its a byproduct of the downswing. Athletic folks will understand that "continuous movement" in the downswing Jon is talking about here that creates that natural fling backward of the club. If it's intentional, you're thinking too much...In my opinion.
Great vid Jonathan. Awesome as always. I have very little lag, and play to a 7. I've tried improving, and this is likely the best vid I've seen on this...will try it out when I get over a small injury in a week or so. One question; how do you develop 'trust' in lag? From a hack's point of view, I trust the clubhead when I lose lag in my videos that I watch of myself. I seem to 'know' where the clubhead is more when I don't have lag, but obviously my clubhead speed is going to lower and the hit is less in the sweet spot etc....this is very confusing for guys like me. I've come to the conclusion that it has nothing to do with strength, but cause ladies can get tons of lag etc... too long of a question I"m sure. Thanks for posting.
The beauty of your golf teaching technique use to be short, crisp, to the point with some drills to understand. Now your golf videos are getting longer, repetitive, rubbing and missing out drills. Please keep them simple (KISS)
Easily one of the best instructors on UA-cam. Be careful out there golfers there is alot of crap on UA-cam.
This exact comment is on every single golf video ever made, word for word
This guy definitely knows his shit

You the best! Lack of tension is so key! Thank you!

I really like the style of ur explanation and video. You made it very easy to understand and very practical. Big thanks.

Keep up the good work Kim!
Thanks! Best and most helpful instructor on UA-cam! Thank you!
I really like this as it makes total sense especially for that effortless swing but I find myself pulling the ball - is this typical?
One of the best…. Wish I saw this earlier ❤
At 1:56 nice mark on the clubface, humble brag:)

Best instructor out there
Awesome! Thanks!

Fine line between what you are teaching and rushing the swing.
In reality it's the opposite. It promotes not rushing the swing. I've taught golf for 3 decades and he's right on the money.
Can you link the sequence video you mentioned. You forgot to put it in description
Great video Jonathan! Where are the links you spoke about?
Great explanation, as always 👍🏻

Do you have any suggestions for triggers to start hip movements, steps or thoughts?

Failed to leave link to other video.
So do your backswing with a 4-count but start your downswing at 3.5
Great video..
Just do one hand swing. Lift weights before it so its easier to do with right hand without letting club drop
Very hard to do for most players because we all want to move the arms first in the downswing. This sequencing technique is even more difficult to do.
How do you stop your head dropping in backswing?
Feel like it raises instead
Where can we buy the shirt you’re wearing?
It’s only found in Korea haha
Jonathan, thanks for putting me to sleep... 😴
Seems a bit harder for risks to drop like that with a strong grip.
Excuse me, how much of the online lesson ???

Golf is so elusive…
Yea usually the opposite of what you think lol

Some concepts need more explaining because people will easily misunderstand
@@JKMGolf thanks for the explanation............I do understand yet I would advice you to keep your videos in a single digit not more than 9 minutes.
