The previous verse is the same, but with lower dynamic range (lower sounding) and then the repeated verse is like a confirmation of the "mission" - The whole OST is amazingly composed. Hard to find in modern games.

Unfortunately it was a lawsuit issue. It was discovered that the original MGS theme from the first game bore a very strong similarity to a Russian orchestral piece, so Konami decided to drop the theme. Still, I feel you man, I love the classic theme.
