SO it's been over a year... I'd like to see an update.. I see these types of products just flaking and chipping away... unless some kind of bond / primer is set down before this is put on or it's in the actual new crete mix? ( maybe I missed that info? ) but def would like to see an up date on this for durability long term, even at 1 yr!
Bought a house with neglected concrete front steps that I was going to pay someone to replace. I'm definitely trying these products when it warms up to save $$. Thank you for the vid!!!
@@surlycrosscheck1 not yet.. I'm still deciding whether to use decking boards over the concrete or to use this product. This is a cheaper alternative, but I do like the look of the decking boards better 🤔
We just tore out previous owners deck over the front steps. To cover it the boards were higher than the door. Makes water go into the house if a bad fast rain. And boards all warped over time. I’m ready to put this skim coat over our thankfully existing cement porch from under the deck.
@@jacquelineeastman4841 I just spent 20 straight hours grinding 20+ years of carpet adhesive off my porch. Chipped and broke away all the old loose concrete and repaired everything. Thanks for all you bring to us MB, I look forward to more of your instructional videos. My projects are coming soon and thanks to you, I feel ready to take them om! I'll share what I do, would welcome some correction and advice.
Amazing video !! Wondering if you could ever do a video about feathering a kitchen counter top with concrete? I seen many videos but not sure which would do the job better, thank you for your work !!
I'm outside of AA and have been putting this project off for years. My porch is covered in slick when wet tile. I tried using a gripping compound with adhesive but it's still a hazard. Garage needs a similar tx too.
Can you use cemental to add height to an existing step. The previous homeowners added height to the actual porch but that leaves the top step onto the porch very high.
Dust shroud works well with the proper dust extractor and large flat surfaces "like the top of the slab" when the dust shroud is wider or hanging past an edge such as doing the vertical edge that is likely 3.5" and the Dust shroud is over 5" dust will escape but I will guarantee you its a fraction compared to without it. Without a dust shroud it would probably be hard to even see him. Silica dust is very bad for you, do not work with it without the proper safety gear. This is coming from a guy that never wears safety glasses but silica dust is nasty. Dust extractor and shroud is a must or do it wet.
Earlier, I watched a video you made resurfacing concrete steps with cement all. In this video, you resurfaced a porch with NewCrete. I know that there must be numerous types of resurfacing products. Which product holds up better long term?
Could you do that design on a driveway, or would the cars destroy it? Also, what do you think is the best way to remove oil stains from a concrete driveway?
I have an outdoor kitchen with tile top on concrete. How would I go about restoring the concrete after removing the tile. Including the tiled edges. I was watching this video and it seems like a good idea to apply to my own countertop.
@@MichaelBuilds Hey on a side note, thanks for the videos. Been watching yours since you started them. You (along with others on UA-cam) got me interested in working with concrete. Been doing artwork and now moved up to a table to go poolside. So thanks for the inspiration. I plan on doing much more concrete creations as my skills improve. And this video resonated with me as I am constantly learning after I make a cast that I did something wrong, or could do something more efficiently. So keep them coming and the followers will keep building. Love the @CTSRapidSet products too!
Great Project Micheal. Rapid set is not available in South Africa, there could be a opertunity to become a distributer. What is your thoughts and what would the requirements be?
Would this 4:38 work on a concrete front porch that has sunk down in front (no footing) and cracked apart in one corner as a result? Prior owners already painted or put something else (blue grey) on top. Can't find a contractor to replace it, so looking into options to repair that would hopefully last at least 1-2 years.
Question: Will Cement all last longer or New Crete? I want to do my bulkhead basement cement steps. Not to look nice but for wear and tear. oh, I am a perfectionist, too. I sometimes work things too long, too. I'm learning but I sometimes think okay just once more and poof, it was one stroke too many. LOL Thank you, Michael Builds.
@michael builds you have etcher and degreaser on the “products used” section although you didn’t show those in the video. Are either or both necessary?
Do you think that the process you used to do your logo could be altered and used with a sturdy plastic stencil and once the product is troweled on just lift the stencil? No duct tape needed …..
Dude! We have the same dog! haha. We just adopted her and she's blind so it takes some getting use to. Great video man. I have a few projects like this where my concrete needs to be resurfaced. Thank you for sharing.
Great video! I have dark brown stamped concrete and am wondering if this product can be used for stone pops? If so, how to I color it to make it match?
So, I did this last week, and it turned out like sh*t. LOL! You make it look so easy! But when you make mistakes in other videos, it looks very familiar to me :) It was probably just too warm and I should have added more water. I notice that manufacturers are starting to give a water ratio "range" now that is often up to 2 quarts range. I appreciate your videos though! Super helpful! I will be asking you a question on your basement waterproofing vid soon!
My driveway has some wood separating. It’s about 1 inch wide and less 1 inch lower than the concrete surface. Can I use the Cement All to fill the gap? And then use Rapid Set to resurface?
I used rapid set mortar to build a basin for a rain curtain water feature based on your coffee table video. Great stuff! I did find out that acid stains don’t work with that type of concrete. I ended up using a water based stain which was ok for darker colors but I didn’t get that crazy luminous color you get from acid stain. Any suggestions? I’d like that drip look that you can get from acid stain running down a vertical surface.

Pressure washing your drive way can remove most of the oil spots
