Very good video, well done. As a retired painter I have used Rapid Set products for years, what makes them so good is the cementitious base of their products. They dry by chemical reaction as opposed to water evaporation or curing of an oil based. So they stay where you put it, rarely shrink or crack and for the interior dry wall patching it sands super easy. I had an architect customer who I did all painting for, he tried a general contractor instead of me to patch many six inch holes in smooth wall from moving light fixtures. Short story, he had to hire me to repair what the general contractor did as he tried using regular dry wall compound. The Rapid Set One Pass will fill the holes with no shrinkage or cracking, knives off smooth as a babies butt and can be sanded with your fingers for a perfectly smooth patch on smooth wall. It is undetectable. Rapid Set for the win.
This is a great product. The asphalt at the front of my garage doors dropped about 2” over the last 25 yrs. Looks like the resurfacer is what I need. Thanks for the great video.
Your asphalt dropped because the base wasn't solid. You covered your soft base with a temporary bandaid using this horrible product. Your low spot will still be a low spot before long because you didn't dig down and actually fix the problem. This is coming from many years of asphalt patch and repair !!!
I’m in Waterford, Michigan and just finished seal coating a big area of my driveway that I just finished repairing. The driveway probably should have been removed and redone professionally but I’m stubborn. I ended up using A LOT of the Sealbest cold patch from Menards. Mainly because the cost and amount I needed to do the job. However, I used the Rapid Set Asphalt resurfacer on the project in a slightly unconventional way. I used it to fill in the crevices of the surface of the cold patch’s larger granules. I brushed the material over the surface dry, then used a sprayer and gently misted the material several times. The whole project took longer than I expected, and took more overall material than I expected, but I’m amazed at how it turned out. You’re right, cold patch SUCKS to work with, but for what I needed, 50lb bags for about $10ea is what I needed to go with. Great video, I searched and searched for Rapid Set asphalt repair/resurfacer videos while I was in the midst of my project and there was hardly anything out there.
@mr.c6674 hey! I mentioned where I’m located because I think this channel is also from Michigan. I’m at the Bloomfield Hills Menards about 387 times a week haha.. I probably ended up with somewhere around $800ish between all the different materials, renting plate compactor, buying tools etc.. when I bought this house, a portion of the driveway was all dirt and vegetation. I couldn’t even tell where the driveway actually ended. I cleared all that out and seen that it had tons of depressions and alligator cracks. Any material that was really loose and coming out easily, I removed - but any material that was taking some effort to remove, I kept in place. I filled in all the cracks with crack filler and really rebuilt the entire thing with cold patch. The final finishing took quite a bit of another material called high performance driveway patch that was a bit more expensive but really helped pull everything together nice and level. It was a race against the weather at the end to get it seal coated. Going to have to save the rest of the driveway for next summer, but it’s going to be easy because it’s in much better shape to start with.

A school in flint michigan got its parking lot fixed by rapid set last year. It looks good. With all the buses going over it, and a wet winter it held up great better than cold patch
GREAT video. I have tried the Asphalt Resurfacer. I am NOT experienced in concrete or cement products, so it was difficult for me. I even tried dry pouring parts with mixed results. I'm wondering if that is just an experimentation with water. I still have most of the area to redo as I only did the wider cracks. The area you used the Repair product on didn't seem 2" deep as you measured from a higher area and didn't raise that area by 2 inches, yet it worked. Since I have similar worn areas I am going to try the Repair product on those too. I wouldn't have thought that was an option before watching your videos. You may it look so easy. I was trying to stuff the product into the cracks( they were 1"+ wide) and the edges are abysmal. But since I have so many areas that are just very worn, the repair poured out and resurfacer seems more doable as a pour. Seeing how even you didn't get it smooth before using the roller tells me I might have had a better result if I'd used one. Thanks. I'm inspired to have another go at it.
*RECOMMENDATION:* Drill bore holes 24" down along the transition between the concrete and asphalt, fill with sand, and THEN cover with asphalt/sealer. No matter how well you seal those edges, cracks _WILL_ happen, and melting snow will get under the asphalt and heave it...causing that pot hole to return fairly quickly. *By drilling those bore holes and filling with sand, you allow melting snow to drain quickly away from the bottom of the asphalt, and it won't freeze as easily because the ground temps will prevent it....especially if the cold air isn't directly contacting the water.* PLUS....the sand bore holes move better than the asphalt, so the sand acts as a spunge...moving before the asphalt moves. The key is to use coarse "rounded" sand....like washed beach sand. Better drainage, and resists compacting.
Hi Michael! I had 2 potential ideas for projects for you. 1) Crate and Barrel has a concrete coffee table shaped like a jellybean for $1,100. Can a regular DIY person make something similar? 2) I have a small tiled (5x8) entryway. I wondered if I can pour concrete over the tile so I don't have to rip it up?

Leggari Products makes a better option to redo the entire driveway, and the results look awesome from the demo video, and the color for there product is a nice deal black. The way it should be. Not dark grey.
I think it’s very common to get those dips in front of your garage door if you park any vehicles outside.. one thing I will point out is that is a common place for water to come in, with the dips I don’t have issues with water coming in.. 😂. If you level it and don’t create a slope away from the garage you can cause those water issues again..
Hot Asphalt from the local plant, $99 per ton. Asphalt repair products, $1000+ per ton. We need more local guys with "hot" pickup trucks that can carry a few hundred pounds of hot asphalt to help folks out at a lower cost than these ridiculous repair products.

The problem with this product is that asphalt sealer doesn't adhere well to this product unfortunately as I learned the hard way.
Where the rain water going?
It would all blend in if you re-coated that crappy driveway. It would probably look like 1 million bucks.
I would have followed the old crack. Next seal coating you'd never see it.
