Is it possible to animate this simulation so that an interaction hotkey can toggle between the folded and unfolded states with an animation transition between the two?
You might be able to do a vertex animation texture and mesh using the Game Dev toolset, which is now called Labs toolset. My experience with this is hit or miss though
@@eichs22 vertex animation have some problems,Last project i export cloth animation but inside unreal the animation framerate not match my body animation.

@@昭奚旧草 yeah for some reason unreal doesn't allow precise decimals which you need sometimes for the bounds. I think that's the main reason they're pretty hit or miss
@@eichs22 I have it as an HDA but the tool breaks with the vellum solver. I need to somehow get the physics to freeze in Houdini and then get ue4 to use it. @@alisonwilkes6766 if you want Unreal to handle the simulation, I'm pretty sure there's built in cloth sims in Unreal. That might be better for what I think you're describing.
It can be as it's pretty much entirely node based with only a few exceptions. The sidefx website has some great starter content and tutorials for houdini though
for me, it says "Failed to import 'M:\Project D\xxx\xxx.abc'. Failed to create asset '/Game/xxx.abc'. Please see Output Log for details." while importing the alembic file
I would make sure you're setting your frame range correctly in both Houdini when exporting and Unreal when importing. Other than that, the error isn't giving me enough to know why it doesn't like it
I guess you could try importing your alembic back into a fresh Houdini scene and see if Houdini reads it alright. I'm gonna guess it's something Unreal doesn't like. How many frames does it have?
@@eichs22 Importing it back to houdini reads it just fine, importing to C4D, C4d can read fine, even blender can, I tried importing to C4D and then exporting it again as an alembic file, but unreal still wont read it.
In mine, I added an auto UV after getting the initial shape and before setting up the simulation. If you set it up like this and have the texture ready at that point, I would maybe try using the Game Res node on the initial UVd geometry and make sure it is set to output a color map from a single frame
@@eichs22 Of course, I did not understand you because I myself do not know this program, I just have a problem. I can’t export my clothes with simulation and with my texture to the blender in marvelous designer
There's a toolset plugin you have to install. It used to be called the game dev toolkit but it's called something else now I believe. There's info on the sidefx website since they make the tool set
It is in the sidefx labs toolset (used to be called game dev tools). The sidefx website has installation instructions but you just install it in the shelf and relaunch Houdini
I enjoyed watching the video,, Looking forward for a great opportunity to learn from your channel, . 😊👍👍
very effective, congrat🔝🔝🔝
Wow! Looks cool. Thank you
Amazing tutorial, I think this can be sled up quite a lot by using VAT. One mesh and one image for mesh like this with non Changing topology.
Amazing tutorial! Thanks
Pro trick : watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.

Yeah you probably could. Then fire it off with whatever key using blueprints

How would you export this if you have some parameters exposed as a tool? For example the wind direction.
Likely as a Houdini asset. I think the settings are fairly specific to get it in engine properly depending on the engine. Unreal has a plugin to help
