  • The functions of the Casio PRW-3500 module make it a great value to buy in 2023. I compare it to the new GBD-H2000.

    The steel pointer pen I use is the Zebra F-701, which costs a bit more than a typical pen but it's money well spent in my opinion. It won't break and you can buy replacement ink cartridges. Just don't lose it!

    I bought this watch as my shtf watch. i owned an earlier version and I fell in love with the barometric pressure reading, and I'm all about the solr. Most of my other watches are eco-drive, which I love, but they don't offer the barometric pressure readings. It'd be my survival watch, if it came down to it. but I wouldn't part with my eco-drive watches. It's all about the solar, baby

    ive taken my protreks hunting, hicking, fishing and swimming for over 10 years and NEVER had a problem with their 100m WR . if I was scubba diving or boogy boarding off the back f a jetboat I probably wouldn't wear one then but I don't do those activities so its just fine.

    • @JimKinkade
      @JimKinkade  16 днів тому

      Yea, that’s true. But this one to me seems tougher than other protreks so I think the 200m water resistance is just an indirect indication of that toughness.

    I have been looking at this watch for some time now. I may need to find one. My rangeman has all the same features, but something about this watch just draws me in. I have a protrek prw-6600 I got as a present, which is an awesome watch, but this one always catches my eye. I might need to add one to my collection.

    I have VERY large wrists so ive almost always never had a protrek or even gshock fit out of the box. which is why I tend to buy braceleted watches and get extra links or buy the new prw 11 series watches these days. i put my prw-61 on an extra long canvas strap almost right out of the box cause I knew the synthetic strap would be on the last to second last hole. it sucks but I love Japanese solar watches.☹☹

    MAYBE case hardened steel isn't the best choice for a pointer around your crystal.
    By the way, you have to enter your latitude and longitude into the PWR3500 to get accurate sunrise/sunset data. Just selecting the time zone doesn't cut it.
    Stopwatch and timer both go to 99 hours and 59 seconds. Did you actually prepare for this video?

      Did you prepare for this comment?
      At 8:30 I explain that the GBD-H2000 has a GPS and I’d have to manually set the latitude and longitude on the PRW-3500 for an accurate sunrise/sunset time.

      One problem with altimeters such as these is that they must be calibrated. None of them were calibrated in this video.

    They made smaller snd lighter prw 30 and then improved with even lighter prw 35 at around 50 grams. Im having an eye on them. But the bezel on that doesn't move.
    There's also the lighter 3510 with biomass plastic which is an upgrade over the 3500.
    I'd like to see a comparison between them.

    you can set a bearing in nemory on anidig protreks so is there a reason you think they should have a rotating bezel?

    • @JimKinkade
      @JimKinkade  16 днів тому

      That’s a good point! The bezel gives you the degrees so it’s still far more useful than the ProTrek bezels that have the cities for the time zones.

    2:45 huh? why they don't use yard is the stupid thing about the metric system?
    10 bar is 100m according to metric (nice round number btw), just because it is 330 feet has nothing to do with metric "being stupid". fyi, if they used yard 10 bar will be 109 yard

    • @JimKinkade
      @JimKinkade  Рік тому +1

      Yea. That’s why the metric system is stupid. They just ripped off the yard and called it a meter.

      @@JimKinkadetell me one thing, would you want a million to be 3,300,000 or something instead of 1,000,000? When things are multiples of 10, 100, 1000 things are pretty simple since we use the decimal system which has 10 unique digits because you have 10 fingers.
