  • The Liberties is an area in central, Dublin, Ireland, located in the southwest of the inner city. It is one of Dublin's most historic working class neighbourhoods. The area was tradionally associated with the River Poddle, market traders and local family - owned businesses, as well as the Guinness brewery, whiskey distilling, and, historically, the textile industry and tenement housing.

Another enjoyable tour. I waved to my sister in Glasnevin from the tower😊. I was surprised at how quiet it was…both pedestrians and traffic. The Singing Hollow, stunning mural portrait, old stone church, and ‘last but not least’ Darwin the dog 🐶.

Hey Don! We loved your Dublin tour! The Jameson distillery looked great, I did a tour there ages ago!

My Father raised in the Liberties , two , three , families to a flat. They were poorer than the poor.

I just live 5 minutes walk from Guinness and you should have seen what the Liberty Market was like in the 80s and 90s I whould go in there with my mom and grandma every Saturday for the shopping and there was stall's everywhere along Thomas St and Meath St and I loved it I wish they were still all there today because you could get anything and the prices where cheap

There's history to these areas is long and hard and should be mentioned in these walk arounds. That new Simon building was already there, this is rebuild for the Simon community. It once had a working yard inside and a shop front. The yard produced bundles of sicks from broken pallets and sold to the public. The shop sold donated furniture all proceeds went back into the Simon to run the service. Simon was the first outreach in Ireland for people with alcohol problems. Great organisation. 👍☘️💞

Thanks for the wonderful video. So many new buildings in Dublin! I dream of going back but I wonder if I’d recognise anything at all. Not saying it isn’t for the better but still makes me a bit sad.

Don, Great video!! I love the Liberties! I hope it doesn't get too developed. It's been a year since I was in Dublin, I'm missing my barstool at Fallon's!

Fantastic tour, Don, and great camera work. It's amazing how much one discovers, simply by walking around. Loved the small houses.

Best use of a chimney in the world, everywhere else knocks them down, Paddy makes a pound or two out of them!
