Anime and manga are really big in france. There was a television show called "Club Dorothé" in the 80s, and a lot of french kids grew up watching anime
Holy shit that looks so cool & I'm glad you got to go! I knew that France was the centre of comics in Europe, but I didn't know about Angouleme or the comic museum specifically! It's honestly amazing to see just the variety of comics they had, it completely blows away what I've seen in the UK. I also saw special releases at a manga store in Berlin which I've never seen in the UK, so my impression is the UK gets kind of screwed out of cool extras bc Anglosphere comics are dominated by US publishers while German/French manga publishing is much closer to home and willing to ship extras.

When the solo levelling physical print got its "english release" it was going to cost £30 to get it because it was only in america. We got a few months later but say american release if thats what you mean 😭
