I have a Grand Reserve OM with 5a maple on order and it is expected to arrive soon. Can’t wait! Will be a wonderful sister i am sure to my BG 152 … Merci Robin et Guillaume. Amazing instruments made in Quebec, Canada. Thanks JP for sharing your thoughts.
John didn't comment on how deep the body is on that guitar.. The only thing a ooo ever needed was a little deeper body. This certainly has that slightly fuller sound...perfect.
I played one of those. To me, it was a little less full range than the maple dread I played. It had less bass, but it was still really cool. If you are into celtic music or want a guitar without the bass that thing is the tool for the job. Sorry but my BG-42-GM topped it (for me).
You think maybe it’s the guy playing just as much as the guitar. He’s definitely the second best salesman for Boucher - the guitars themselves being the best. Lotta complaints about the price but no one’s forcing you to buy one.
Yes these guitars are worth their price! I can’t afford one but that doesn’t mean they are not priced appropriately for what they are! I have a beautiful Furch Yellow Master’s Choice Gc-CR, which was my dream guitar and at the top of my budget (and it was more than I ever imagined I would spend on a guitar). Fortunately there are great guitars at a variety of price points, but a smaller builder like Boucher, making hundreds as opposed to thousands of instruments per year, has to charge what they do for the materials, manpower, and research they are doing to make their instruments what they are!
You can tell these boxes project more than the avg just hearing how the box responds to handling it before the strings are struck. Optimizing the design for sound transmission and woods of choice go a long way. Put it next to a Henderson or see how it stands next to a banjo and mando in group jam.
