Crimea belonged to Soviet Russia till 1954, when Khruschev transferred it to Ukraine as a gift to a friendly soviet republic. The latter became -NATO-sided country. No friendship, no Crimea. Once big brother presented it than took it away. Russia is too powerful and mighty even with all its weaknesses and you know this owing to Stalingrad. As for the UN, you probably mean western countries and former soviet satellites which became anti-Russian to the extent of animal hatred. Find one of the most polluted places in Russia and make a video about it and leaves the audience with an impression that the whole Russia is like that. Russian could’ve easily done the same by finding the most polluted areas or the most impoverished neighborhood in Germany and make a video about it and slap on a title like DW’s.
Regardless, of the bias you’re implying. You think this particular place is managed well? Does it look right to you? And DW doesn’t shy away from speaking about issues in Europe either by the way
The title seems to suggest all of Russia has environmental issues, but the documentary only describes the experiences of a single town and provided no evidence to extrapolate to all of Russia. It's a shame DW is exaggerating. Side note, cigarettes in the mouths of those speaking about pollution issues doesn't really add up.
Yes, the irony of Germany complaining about the environment in another country. They've done their level best to change the environment of virtually every country in Europe and certainly their neighbours. That human and ecological disaster will probably take another 100 years to rectify.
I enjoy visiting Russia and the Russian people. However, the water problem isn't just outside big cities. In St. Petersburg, everyone boils the tap water before drinking due to critters in the water that will cause diarrhea. In Moscow, washing my white cotton clothes caused the fabric to turn sepia. Upon returning home (US), I tried re-washing then bleaching my whites but to no avail. How do Russians keep their white cotton clothes white when the water from the pipes are full of rust?!
I live in Moscow and just use regular washer and regular washing powder (without any whitening stuff), do not have any problems with whities. You can drink tap water and won't get sick but we boil it just to be safe. Though I would not recommend to drink tap water in Moscow since Moscow is a huge city and the water can not be as good as in small towns in the mountains :) However, rust water do may occur especially during short time after central water system was shut of and swittched on back again (if there were maintainance works for example), then the "first flow" is very rusty usually.

People in post-Soviet countries have used to government acting like a parent, fairly providing them everything, free of charge. They weren't properly educated on their newly acquired political and financial rights and RESPONSIBILITIES of market economy and democracy. Many rural communities still don't have a proper government due to lack of contenders (no salary, part-time and only for locals) and thus unable to manage their problems or even officially request financial aid from federal budget.

Yes, in particular Germany talking about sanctions meanwhile constructing Nord Stream 2. Biggest hypocrite pro-Russian CDU. DW bowing to Russia with Crimea crosshatched. Sorry but that's how it really is. Disgrace
The rest of the world hardly ever interfere with Russian internal affairs and claims its sovereignty over Crimea.
@@vicdor1031 yeah, gift… Let’s also recall that, before, Crimea didn’t have any adequate access to fresh water, therefore after the transfer to Ukraine, Crimean canal was built to bring Dnipro’s water to desalinate soils and to develop the region. And for years it was presented as “gracious” gift to Ukraine, although, now we can see that Ukraine can exist without Crimea, but it is a matter of time how long Crimea will last without Ukrainian water resources.
@@jackvermont88 if Crimea lasted for thousands and thousands years before the canal was built so, then where do you see any problem? Crimea after all is not a desert and even now during summer time water supply is though sometimes restricted but stable.
@@vicdor1031 of course, but let’s not forget the fact that population of the peninsula one thousand years ago and now is different, as well as infrastructure and agriculture development. You can say it will last for years, but I would rather say it will deteriorate to what it was before. As water demand is critical, people already started to complain of water shortages and realize the 2014 consequences.
The main problem with Russia is our NIMBY mentality. We want change, but "you do it first and I will follow, maybe". Also Soviet leftovers in older generations of entrusting everything to the government without holding it accountable doesn't help either

And DW doesn’t shy away from speaking about issues in Europe either by the way
Lord - The West is brimming with hypocrisy.
