My wife and I are doing the same thing, exploring and enjoying riding the ebikes. Your area is definitely a lot nicer than ours, but I find ebikes very relaxing and a joy to ride no matter what the scenery is.
The fun things about the scooter right now are that it goes into a lot of really narrow places that my trike (I'm disabled) doesn't and it runs over a lot of terrain - I was just roaming around and through all the outfields in the local sports park yesterday. It was super enjoyable and as long as I'm not tearing up the place (another great thing is I can go *very* slow on the stand up scoot, like almost still) it's very quiet and cruising the edges of outfield I see a LOT of wildlife that normally I don't because it's so quiet. My trike makes a lot of just general clattery bike noise while the scooter just kind of glides around without the chain slap and freewheel clicking all the time. I've seen at least 50 deer in the past week or so - I expect it to become more of a hazard in town as rut and hunting seasons both ramp up. We have an overpopulation of elk right now so I'm really watching out for them. Deer just look at you, a bull elk in rut might charge you just because you're not an elk while most bucks will shy down (especially during hunting season); elk just don't care.
That old crane unit is probably an old dragline. If it smells freshly painted he's probably got the upper section of the boom off for painting as well. There's a guy in the area here that has an old cable operated shovel that he uses on his property when needed. But I'd say it sits 85% of the time so it always looks like it's never been used in years. I remember for the longest time growing up it was always rusty and always hiding in the weeds so it always looked abandoned. But it recent years he finally got around to giving it some paint so it doesn't look like it's been left behind. :)
I love that old equipment, It could sit for years and the old technology mechanical fuel pump and everything else will start right up and operate. Unlike stuff built today
@@MotoCheez I like watching some others who do "Let's Start" videos of old equipment that have been sitting in the weeds, out in fields or left in the woods for years. If it's got a diesel engine in it they'll come back to life if water hasn't gotten in them. I like the old dozers with the pup-motors the best because they're getting two engines running at the same time. Stuff now will never last as long. There's far too many computers and electronics that'll go bad first before anything mechanical on them.
@@MotoCheez That's cool. I don't know anyone directly who collects heavy equipment. But there is a local farmer in the area that has a huge collection of various John Deere tractors though.
@Slane583 well, it was Donald Trumps brother, they have plenty of money. He said he collected them because his dad used to take him on job sites when he was a kid. Was a nice guy
😁👍 I bet, my brother-in-law that I gave the puckypuppy is a hardcore biker, no lie he would do 50 mi pedaling every morning he was like a maniac on a bike, he hasn't ridden in a while and wasn't a fan of e-bikes but when he stopped over he was checking it out took it for a ride and fell in love because now he can go four to five times as far, do 30 mph plus and still pedal and get a lot of exercise. He loved it

Mrs. Cheez is really getting into the E-Bike. That was a really cool area for exploring.
Those look like the shelters along the Appalachian trail.

@Slane583 agreed, was fun working on Robert Trump's (rip) big equipment that he collected a few years ago with jeffro. Huge stuff!
