They won't stay cheap for long. There's 2 parts of this equation : labor cost in China, and unique supply chain ecosystem, built over decades, with both foreign investments and IP, as well as Chinese government subsidies. But gradually, manufacturing in China is getting more and more expensive. DJI started with producing cheap drones, now they are selling for a premium price. Japan used to produce cheap electronics as well, now they are selling at premium. You are right about getting ripped off though. I have TTartisan 28 2.8 and it's autofocus is much better than the native Sony 50mm 1.8, which costs double.
Honestly, its because most brands overbuilt and overspec the Lenses for their use cases, many hobbyist just want clean enough images. So many brands release their lenses as if they are only for professional work and never release a hobby lens and when they try to do, still releases them at pro prices. Many camera brands blamed Smartphones for a decline in camera sales but really its the pricing.
Excellent, thorough review, as usual. I'm curious in regards to lens flare, which I think is a problem other new Chinese lens manufacturers share. Is it that effective coatings are expensive, or is it that the coating formulas of the established Japanese and European manufacturers are "black box" and hard to duplicate? Or is it something else?
Assuming that the XF 35mm has the same image quality as the XC 35mm, then the XC is probably the better choice than the TTArtisan. At the moment they both cost exactly the same here in Europe.
Hi Weber, I still haven't seen any 3rd party AF lesnes for L-mount yet. But this one is an APS-C lens so probably make sense not to create it for L-mount as there is no APS-C L mount camera in the market right now.
@@webersteve1547 ah! I see. i was wondering if you have a Leica CL. Oh well Let's see if we will see some more APS-C L-mount cameras from Sigma, Blackmagic or DJI.. then we may see some more APS-C L mount lenses!
And it is now $114!!! TTArtisans has a four day 25% off sale and free shipping over $99 and a further $5 off = $114. Amazing value!
wow that is a super good deal.
But what we learn here: how cheap lenses can be produced today and how we get ripped off when we buy branded lenses. This might change the industry

For sure. Similar to what the Japanese manufacturers did to the established German companies in the sixties.

Bravo, well done. Would be interesting to compare with 1.4
I have several TTArtisans lenses for Micro 43, my latest is the tilt 50mm f1.4. I have had fun using this !
They have made some really fun and affordable lenses
Nice review as always!
Thank you Andrei
Amazing in depth review, thank you!
The price of this lens and fuji xc 35mm f2 is really similar in my country, really wondering about their quality difference..😅
Really love to watch your videos.
Can you please suggest between 7artisan 55mm f1.4 or youngnuo 55mm f1.8.
Photography is my priority.
hi there sorry i havent try the Yongnuo 55 1.8 so can't really suggest

My understanding is that effective coating is very expensive
love the review! Am I the only one hung up on the fact that there isn't a physical aperture ring?
Looks good!! TT artisan coming a long way quickly …
yes @OnCam31 I think so too!

Richard, would you mind comparing this to the Fuji XF 35mm 1.4?
hi there, probably not right now as I've already done this review. But if i'll see if i have a chance to compare that in the future
Thanks for the review & enjoy the details
mans fast
posted 2 mins after the TTartisan's channel
Better 2 minutes after not before :)
No L-mount 😢

I forgot to add, Meike did tell me they are releasing their first L-mount autofocus lens next year and I'll be reviewing that when it's available! :)
@@TheRealRichardWong well, I have a Leica CL. But I agree, this is to niche

Maybe anyone who want to make L-mount lenses must join L-mount alliance
Can i use this on my nikon z5?
Yes, just make sure you buy the Nikon z version
I just saw this is for aps-c? How about fullframe mirrorlesS?
@user-be1mk4bp5v oh I am sorry, yes this is an apsc lens, I misread z5 as z50. Apologies
OOOh hope these come L mount!
No way it come true. Until TTartisan join the L Mount Alliance at least
Did you get a L-mount camera Ben! All L-mount user can just keep asking here and TTArtisan will see the demand and hopefully will do something :)
i just bought their manual 35mm lens then just saw this 😂
it's always like that isn't it
