  • Today I'm featuring the Fuji S3 Pro. I'd recommend this camera over nearly any old body I've used on this channel. It's affordable, easy to find batteries for, user friendly, good mount system, and it has an incredibly unique CCD sensor!
    Thanks for viewing!

I have three S3 bodies, two are mothballed, the other I use constantly. The colour really is superb, and if you underexpose to retain highlight detail, the shadows can be lifted with ease. This is 13.5 stops of dynamic range. Another thing to consider is that the shutter release is so smooth it is easy to operate in low light. It is slow, but the image quality makes up it.

Well said my friend. Sadly, my s3 kicked the bucket soon after making this video. I'd love to try the s2 or s5 now, but I'm keeping my eyes open for any reasonably priced "super ccd" fuji!

I bought the S-3 new when they came out, think I paid around $2100.00 US for it. I still have it and it still takes pictures but the viewing screen quit working years ago, so settings that you need the viewing screen for (time, format, etc) can't be accessed but the smaller "function" screen still works. Still takes beautiful images but you can't view them until you load them on your computer. I recently picked up a second S-3 from Ebay for cheap that still works. I have newer cameras but I still love the CCD look of the older cameras.

My screen went out too recently Now I pretend it's just a film camera with benefits lol

@@MattsNotes that's right! When I want to use a non-AF lens on the S-3 I just take my handheld light meter with me. Just like the "old days." :)

It's 12 Pixels when shouting in RAW, I should know I have 3 of them as one of them was modified to shoot IR shots, and also I have the S5Pro too. Love the models along with my Mirrorless Fuji's. Good Video.

Thanks for the comment! I'm using the tamron 28-75 f2.8 AF, and tokina 19-35 AF. Both cheap and great quality in my opinion!

The S3 was never sharp enough for me. The colours however were sublime.

Whereas you are right - the camera body is really a bargain - the price of the lens is still sky-high... :( I am looking for a decent camera which gives crispy details instead of a gouache mess in all parts of the photo... First I was excited about this variant as an alternative to old prosumer cameras. But very soon I cooled down after looking at the lens prices....

I think the trick to saving money while getting awesome lenses would be to look for third party lens options, and the AF-D nikon lenses! The two lenses I like to use most with the s3 are the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 (these could be found around $115 USD) and the tokina 19-35 (anywhere from $80-150 USD).
I'd even consider some nikon crop sensor lenses as the S3 pro isn't a full frame!

Does the s3pro shoot videos? If so, how would one do that?

Can you tell me what settings you have in there? My camera is usually blurry. I have the same one and have used it very often. The pictures are usually blurry after shooting the pics

Sorry for the late reply! Have you been able to attain any clean images in good lighting, or at least outdoors on a sunny afternoon?
With this fujifilm, I like using it on "Aperture Priority" or "A" if I'm just walking around. I'd usually get usable shots so long as the lighting permits
