    There has to be a lume pip next to the 3pm to get PADI approval. To smooth out screw down crowns, buy waxed dental floss and clean the outside column when screwed out. Most of the notchiness in screw down crowns comes from metal shavings in the factory

    The weird lume plot on the minute track is only half the story, they also got rid of the beveling on the date window, to make room for said lume plot; glad I got the older version.

      That's so true. I don't think most people even know that difference. Lucky you having the first edition )

      Seiko had it right the first time. The only thing I can think of is not having that lume plot at the three maybe messed with ISO certification? Kinda doubt it. Just a guess. V.1 certainly looked a bit cleaner.

    Nice watch, nice review, a few people in our dive club have these watches and I ordered one. The bracelet is surprisingly good, however we always swap it out to a rubber strap when diving. It is an İSO rated dive watch, the lume in that position is necessary. It's not a fashion watch, it's a tool watch that must meet certain requirements that have been updated quite recently. It is what it's supposed to be. If someone doesn't like it, probably better to stick to fashion style dive watches. I understand the confusion here though, it should have been clearer on the website.

      Hi Brian. Thank you for your comment. It is always great to hear a real diver opinion on a diver watch. Just curious what the most popular watch choices for divers in your club?
      I love the bracelet on my spb143 also and overall it’s a very good watch.

    Totally agree on the SEIKO logo should have gone on the crown to give it that old school look and feel . Also with mine being an August 2020 issue I don't have the lume at 3 ISO and all that but still it would have been nice to see a polished frame on the date window for that real late 60s~70s period look. The crown cross threading at the "start" is common with Seiko Prospex , one has to assist the fastening up a few times by applying a little inward pressure. It may take a few times but as long as you remember it can normally be done when doing the monthly time correction, with this issue SPB 14# the 6R35/70hr is about 3.5 minutes fast a month which is OK after 7 months, better to be early than late . I have owned a few Swiss mid range beaters over the past 4 decades and a couple of Seiko Divers in that time too(in~ house) , Seiko today with their in-house assembled and QC models and improved movements ie 6R35, 8L35 ~55 on the MM300 are matching, if not in a few points beating the high end Swiss Brands. Don't get me wrong here one must pay more but you get that much more in 2021~22 something that wasn't the case in the past. You'll never suffer tall poppy syndrome with a SEIKO or GS onyour dial. Cheers Johno, Brisbane Australia. 🤑😂👍

  • @hubertuswolfthaler

    I had that same exact issue with the crown on my SPB143, no matter how thoroughly I cleaned the threading. But after ~9 months, it suddenly started working perfectly 🤷🏻‍♂️

    from what i know the additional lume is to meet the new ISO standard

  • @michaelkaliski7651
    @michaelkaliski7651 Рік тому +1

    It is important to bear in mind that everything on this watch is there in order to comply with the ISO standard. This is a professional tool watch, not a fashion statement. That is also why it might appear a bit more expensive compared with similarly specced watches that have bezels that could become loose around the date window, applied markers, and no lume pip at 3 o’clock. This is a watch without any trivia so that it will not fail underwater or in situations where your life might depend on it.

    Same issue with my SPB213. This was my second seiko and i was really worried about the crown. I thought it was not normal but i tried other 62mas at my local dealer. They said it was common.
    My SPB255 didnt have this issue on the crown. It was very smooth.
    I think this is only for 62mas production line.
    How was your crown today? Is it smoother? They said it will “break-in” after few months.

    i have this watch and the lume at 3 oclock is the better version as this was a certification must to qualify for the diving specs.
    My only complaint with this watch is they should of used ceramic insert on bezel , I think the watch deserves that!!!

    The crown is normally like that. With diver watches you have to push in and screw at the same time. It’s the gasket that is pushing out which is normal . My Rolex submariner does the same thing.

    • @OneManReviews
      @OneManReviews  2 роки тому

      It is not about pushing the crown. The crown is very stiff and not working properly. I have other diver watches and other watches with screw down crowns. Nothing like that.

      @@OneManReviews if it makes you feel better I have the first edition spd143 and mine is the same way. I am thinking maybe that’s how Seiko made them? • @OneManReviews
