Heartbreak & Changing Shoes 7 Weeks Out From 100k Ultramarathon Trail Race

  • I am 7 weeks out from my first 100k Trail Race at the UTMB Grindstone in Virgina. This VLOG will showcase my training this week and the things that go into a training week. I will talk about how I build milage through a training block as well has how much I decrease volume during a down week.

    Way to go! First I'm trying to learn options from you, next I'm wondering what running shoes you mentioned (couldn't make it out.) You are truly inspirational. I hit the subscribe button to follow along. The 'struggle bus' ? Great analogy! I am on the struggle bus, and force myself to use an incumbent bike....(long ugly story for later)...but I sure like your motivation regime. So my question is shoe brand and what is your "goal" time for the race? Mentally conditioning the mind is likely 80% of the game. Awesome job!

      Thank you for the love. The shoes are Hoka Challenger 7’s. Review coming at 50 miles.
      For the first 100k, I’m have no idea on finishing time. There’s a 18 hour time cap but I think I can keep it under 15 min/mile if it’s not to hot and the elevation doesn’t kill me

      @@bradfinntrains wow! Great time goals. Elevation conditioning is underrated, especially in any heat. I sincerely hope you do great - now I’m invested in hearing about your journey, lol. Keep us updated prior to the race.

    I do need to get back out there ! I reached a point where running was no longer enjoyable and training became something I “had “ to do vs looked forward too!

      I get worried about that day. But then I realize I don’t run for the run or even the exercise. the ripple effect is huge. Find your why!
