I did like how Varney was handled here.
4:13 I think it was Dracula blood that turn him. Specifically, the lore where Dracula drank all of Varne blood in order to be the one true vampire lord.
True, because all vampires are his descendents they all have Varnae's blood, and can be easily taken over by Varnae's essence. I have the '94 Blade series, Blade needed special preparation to be Varnae's host because he was dhampir. Blade drinking Dracula's blood in his last series, embracing his vampire side to fight the Adama, I would guess made Blade just as easy to possess.
The giveaway was the Atlantis reference
Varnae Marvel's first Vampire. A pre cataclysmic Atlantean Sorcerer.
Avengers #54 was the first MARVEL comic I ever read. My attention was peeked when you mentioned the arch when talking about the title of Sorcerer Supreme.
My only issue with this is bp having the heartshapd herb, and not his king of the dead powers
This has been a great miniseries. I love anything vampires and this is awesome 👌
I thought BLADE was possessed by the "Mother Of Evil"... 😳
I liked wrecker turning up.
Doom and Strange were both contenders for Sorcerer Supreme when Strange got the title the first time so it makes sense he’s constantly trying to get it
Fun fact, when he was still human, Varnae wanted the title too. As a Darkhold cultist he had the power to be a legit contender.
Definitely forgot about Varne. I recognized the old comic.
Iirc I think Marc Spector’s white cloak on the black costume was introduced when Cullen Bunn was writing Moon Knight (it was after Warren Ellis and before Jeff Lemire)
Yup. I believe you are correct.
I agree with your thoughts on Doctor Doom, he shouldn't need to become Sorcerer Supreme to get his mother back but like you said maybe there's something very specific he has to do to keep her alive &healthy &sane going forward. Also agree that McKay is absolutely picking characters completely out of current conscious but if there aren't any hints or clues that even give the reader a chance to figure it out then that's isn't quite as fun. Putting aside the part where a few heroes &a crowbar break into Asgardian prisons but I do need to see Thor's reaction to that prison-break
I was honestly expecting this "Phallanx" reveal was going to happen much later...
Blerd stay shading Jed McKay 😂
All respect, I disagree a bit with your assessment of Jed. It's less unpredictable for unpredictable's sake. He really leans on lore. So if the question is "who possessed Blade" he's going to go back and check "well who has tried this before". With regard to the Shroud, there were a few people who actually predicted him based on all the little hints he drops along the way in the series before the reveal. So I wouldn't say Varnae was necessarily unpredictable (I think a lot of people picked him out with all the references to Atlantis and the inclusion of Bloodstorm 1, who is literally a character from a Varnae story). He writes for real fans of a given character, and likes leaning on what has been done.
Ernie must need to get to his comic store and grab Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #0 real quick before this weekend! 😅
I'm auld, the moment the said ancient atlantean magic I figured it was Varnae
It’s funny you said there’s probably gonna be another Marvel event because ur right Venom War the week immediately after Blood Hunt events
I appreciate you shouting out the writer and artists at the top of the vid.🙏🏼💯
My interesting thread possibility. Dr Doom's defense plan had him steal Dr Strange's students for protection. What does Doom know about their ability that Strange didn't see? When Doom said Blade was prepared by Marie Laveau, Varne's minion to be his host my interest became even greater because one of the student is Marie's great-great-granddaughter Zoe Laveau who has the ability to create zombies from the dead. Does she have more of Marie's powers.
NICE! Been waiting for this one, Ernie!! 🔥🔥
Yep it's Varnae. I knew it.
Me too (the “I have been planning this for thousands and thousands of years” was a tip off {Varnae is a _LOT_ older than Dracula} )
Same. As soon as "Blade" mentioned Atlantis, I immediately thought of Varnae.
Kang, in the early Avengers run, said the "King of Magic," and I thought that that was Dr. Doom, and now with Dr. Doom becoming Sorcerer Supreme, it seems safe to day that it will go that way now.
I would like them to tie the bow by saying that's why the Adana basically figured she still won by Blade dispatching her. He was corrupted enough by the Lightbringer sword and Dracula unlocking more of his vampirism, to the point whatever rutual was completed by those acts, or could be completed by people who got to Blade off panel.
Knew it was Varnae since the first issue.
This storyline feels like something that was pitched as a Mackayverse crossover that got blown up to make a summer event.
These events don't happen in real time, they take moths of planning and lead time for the artist. I wonder how much lag there is. When VoMK started, did they know they were going to blow up the storyline by issue 5?
I like Timeless comics only when associated with Kang, because Kang makes most sense, with anyone else like that older Luke Cage, that stuff gets more confusing is that is the definitive future, but then they change it.
Im for the finale when the avengers and doctor strange take down and cast out varnae for good. keep up the great work blerd. Marvel fans and heroes unite!
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Any predictions on how this thing will end? (I mean... aside from the obvious return to status quo, of course)
I am curious, how long has Mark had been dead, in-universe. Feels like a whole week. Ms. Marvel was in the ground longer. The Vengeance of Moon Knight series didn't even finish its first arc before Blood Hunt started. If the new MK series is starting in November it means VoMK has 4 issues left, at most. What the Hell are they gonna do with the rest of the run?
I am gonna stick around. I was dubious when The Death of Mark Spector was announced, and I was pleased with how that was handled. Mackay has earned the benefit of the doubt, from me. Damn if I can see what he's gonna do.
I STILL say the new MK should have been Zodiac. Since its not, I want to know what he showed the Mission that got it to let him go. They haven't paid that off yet, and it's a Hella of a thread to leave hanging.
FINALLYYYYY
I would have kind of liked Blade to have a villain Saga, like Cyclops.
Respect that, but I am glad our hero, Blade, isn't randomly out of character as a villain without an explanation like this.
Cyclops was never a villain.
Interesting that brother voodoo is nowhere to be found
He was sidelined in Strange Academy
@@jamiedoe6822 oh I haven’t read that one! How did he get sideline ?
whose*
Who? lol Never heard of this villain.
i read 1-3 to give it a chance so i'm glad to just kind of keep up on it via these videos. I can't see myself buying much more Marvel at all.
It’s a heavy center weight for me…so far
Soooo.... I think that dr doom orchestrated all this... or played a part in everything coming together.... in several marvel events over the last few years, he has had his hands in things taking place for his own selfish reasons and I think it’s happened again
You were right, it wasn't him
I liked the run, but wow, they really went pale vanilla with the “big reveal”.
It was a wild reveal, and it makes sense given that he tried before. But hopefully will show it at some point as to how Varnae did it, cause I've been waiting a long time for this guy to comeback. Though I was hoping Varnae was still in Night Terrors body, and see what he has been doing this whole time. Also, when they showed Varnae over Blade during the reveal I wish they used his actual form and not his giant bat transformation.
The Lightbringer doesn't share the same essence of Lucifer, they just share the same name in Lightbringer. The Sword is made from the matter of creation itself. Side note: In Marvel there is some confusion as to is Marduk and Lucifer being the same character. I think they are, cause not only is there a lot of overly between the 2 but Marduk was seen in a flashback telling to God and was in his Angel form.
Skar or Hulk
yeah we got Venom War right after this but I wont read any of that cause I don't really care for Venom
So where's blade at?
Can we just Appreciate that Blade isn't outt here trying to screw the marvel universe on purpose because im here think we just found out Eric has daughter who he training to be a "Sucker Popper"(My term for Vamp Hunter) like Him he just got done dealing with Demon Queen for monsters something up with bro for real he not himself so im personally glad he just being Mind Diffed by some all powerful entity who it i hope we find out next issue🙏🏿💯
Doom is not told nay. Doom says yay. Doom doesn't require power. Doom inspires power. All roads all roads lead back to Victor.
Inspires? Nah, Doom has been out there stealing and bargaining his way into power for decades. Stole the Power Cosmic, stole the Beyonders power. Caged Hela for a spell.
Doom likes it and he wants it, so people can give him the easy way or the hard way. 😂
@@bajansamurai yes inspiring power with force. Inspiring with determination and a resolute determination. Doom stole nothing. Doom took what was his. Is not Doom turned to by heroes for his intelligence and skill and capabilities. Doom fears little if nothing. I think he takes because he belive himself superior to most
@@brendonohagan1946 You know what? I'll cosign that line. Anything DOOM took belonged to DOOM and others were just holding onto it for him.
This is the greatest comment thread I've ever read, in an agonizing eternity of unlife, that is reading other comment threads on other channels.
Nuance? This is the internet! Nuance has no place here! /jk
Weird decision.
Who in the blue heck is varne
Varnae was the first vampire created by a ritual from Darkhold before it became a book. It was also him who bequeathed the title of Lord of Vampires to Dracula.
Im Marvel head through and through but... Is it me or has Marvel been floppin the last half parts of series/one shots/sagas etc. for like the last 4 yrs?
Morbius is the first daywalker.
Not
@@marcellusfatade Yeah he is. Morbius was around before blade was. Blade was a regular guy in the 70s 80s and some of the 90s. It wasn't until the blade film that in the comics morbius bites blade to become a daywalker.
