      CBD seems to teat a lot of the down sides of THC. So it makes sense that as THC produces some effects similar to ADHD DBD would mitigate some effects of ADHD.

    I have been self medicating my ADHD symptoms with Sativa vape for over a year now with great success. Like 1 puff, 2-3 times per week when I am overwhelmed. It really helps focus, my ability to get mundane tasks done, improves my temperament/patience and helps me connect emotionally better with others.

      @@dawnkelly804 I would take Dr. Amen with a grain of salt. Many things he writes about are good and helpful advice, but there is also a lot of promotion of his ideas which haven't been verified - some of which may turn out to be true and others not.

    I started medical marijuana a few months ago for phantom pain (it works great) and noticed it works better at treating my ADHD symptoms than anything I've tried before. I haven't taken my Adderall in 3 months and my productivity has actually gone up.
    It makes it easy to sit still, it slows down my mind just enough where I can get control of my train of thought (a side effect of that is I now have almost full control of what i hyperfocus on), and it slows down my mind just enough for me to have a second thought about an action before I'm impulsive.
    I only really get these effects with a dry herb vaporiser. Smoking or eating makes it harder to concentrate.
    Also I never tried marijuana before my 30s so that could potentially also play a role.

      @@DrJohnKruse mostly high THC sativa dominant stands during the day. I usually use a high THC indica before bed. Indica helps me relax and sleep but it makes my ADHD symptoms worse.

      @@DrJohnKruse Just to point out :
      Indica or Sativa does not indicate the amount of CBD or THC.
      Indica or Sativa only points out whether the effects are more sedating (Indica) or stimulating (sativa).
      It also points out whether the plant has a tendency to grow bushy with thick leaves (Indica) or tall with thinner leaves (sativa).

    • @DrJohnKruse
      @DrJohnKruse  9 місяців тому

      @@C_Kava except that the major sedating agent according to current research is CBD, and the major stimulating agent is THC, so most breeders will say that there is a strong correlation with Indica varieties having higher CBD content and Sativa higher THC, and many of the breeders are explicitly breeding their strains to boost those specific chemical components.

    I am a medical user for cannabis. I am prescribed indicas with mainly Caryophyllene and i find it definitely helps with my adhd

  • @carolinagirl437
    @carolinagirl437 Рік тому +8

    Was there any consideration as to what strain of cannabis was used? I have ADHD and use it to manage my symptoms. I tried multiple medications but all gave me some significant side effects. I find that not every strain or terpene is good for ADHD. Some make me more anxious and others help me to focus on tasks. There is a lot more to consider than just the plant in general as it is a lot more complicated than that (the variety of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, etc.)

    • @DrJohnKruse
      @DrJohnKruse  Рік тому +1

      Many of the studies that try to eliminate some of the possible variables use just CBD or DBT oils, but then that means we don't get to look at possible interactions between cannabinoids or see the full complexity of the natural herb product(s) might do.

    Pot edibles helps when I microdosed amount, but im highly sensitive to thc, so its easily overdone..
    Cbd edibles help but later accumulate in the system and make my mind dense, which is bad for me.
    Smoking CBD works well, but i don't really want to dry flower vape, because it may be bad for my lungs.

    Hello Doctor, i was smoking thc for 15 years and i was trying to stop it for the last 6-8 years but i could not, i knew what i had to but i couldnt get rid of it, so 3 months ago i found out what i have 99% of the ADHD symptoms, i didnt know what ADHD is, so i stopped smoking cold turkey 3 weeks ago and i dont want to go back but insomnia,impulsivity and lack of sleep is kind of killing me. I am living in the Netherlands and here the waiting lists for ADHD treatments is very long, 3 months or more. From some research i did i found out microdosing thc+cbd might help, do you reccomend trying? and would you reccomend any specific strains ? Thank you very much for your informational video, we are lucky there are people like you in our world.

    • @DrJohnKruse
      @DrJohnKruse  Рік тому +1

      I can't make specific recommendations without having a doctor patient relationship. With my own patients I am much more comfortable recommending cbd than thc because of the (rare) potential for psychosis, which I have seen a few times. I also usually recommend keeping things as simple as possible, so trying cbd alone would be just one intervention whereas cbd + thc would be two at the same time, making it hard to know if one or both are really helping. There are several good CBT-i (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia) programs and apps that may be able to turn the insomnia around.

    Does smoking weed in moderation have any connection to developing or worsening mental issues/disorders?

    • @DrJohnKruse
      @DrJohnKruse  Рік тому +1

      Different people have different ideas of what "in moderation" might mean, but certainly some of the uncommon bad events, like psychosis, have happened to people who were not using huge amounts each day. And "moderate" daily use has been associated with apathy, low energy, and mild memory issues.
