Here's one not many people are talking about: If you find yourself in a storm and you aren't near your shelter or don't have materials for a shelter, if you find a big enough stone deposit, you can mine yourself a little cave and it will count as shelter.
That's what I did for the first 5 nights and like 4 storms because I had no idea you could build a house😭 then I moved into a cave not realizing it basically gave me perpetual pneumonia😂
Small item I found: when felling treas, you can chop the stump for more wood. Takes a lot more hits but also usually gets a lot of wood too. Also, something most people probably don't know starting out: after you skin an animal, attack the skeleton. I've found both the pic and the axe works and you get a lot more bone.
Don't forget that you can wait for a storm to bring down trees in case you need wood. Its much quicker and easier and it saves you the initial 5-7 hits on a tree to bring it down (though you don't get the XP for bringing down the tree). I have already crossed level 40 (and I don't get talent points anymore) I don't need the XP, so I just wait for trees to fall and chop them up with an axe. (bummer that I don't have that automatic pickup talent on wood). Another tip is you can set a portion of a forest on fire if you've been destroying coal to save space and then need it badly to make gunpowder or at the herbal bench. When the fire subsides, you can just chop up the trees and they will fall as coal. (careful as the coal stacks can get heavy pretty quickly) If you leave the stumps the trees will grow back if you leave the stumps. I still have to calculate how many days / hours does it take (or if it regrows once you are far enough from that zone. I personally like to chop up and remove all tree stumps from around my base so they don't fall during storms and damage my building. Also, chopped trees will most of the time fall away from you. On occasionally they go crazy and fly all around.
Good tips. Just got the game last week and didnt know about the oxite in the suit slot one. Figured most the other out pretty quick incl the map marker just because Ive played a lot of similar games so it made sense to try double click to place marker
I learnt a lot of the tips just by reading more and checking some things. but honestly most of this just comes down to having resources and tech tree things researched first. If you have stone walls and stuff researched then obviously just make a stone base first.
We have like 9 other tips videos for Icarus you should consider checking them out. Fair warning once in a while a tip might be slightly out of date so to the games updates.
the best ive found when it comes to which buildings to do is get wood first.. skip thatch as wood can survive longer then you realize... skip stone and go for concrete or get stone if you really want it... dont worry about aluminum other then the door if you want... when you get concrete then get interior wood designs to make your base look better... otherwise you will eventually get evrything i do believe
My fav Tip: light Up a torch and place it in your leftest Slot. This way you light up and can use tools. Pretty handy for hunting and farming in caves!
The thing i took away from this that i didnt know was not said but rather showen, i didnt know that you could put the CO2/water bottles into those slots. Ive just been carrying them in my bag and clicking them when needed.
Tip 11 or extra bonus tip: not a lot of people know about this, but... you can press Spacebar to Jump! Wow, in my whole 40000 hours of playtime I didn't know that!
if having regular water jugs in the water slot gives you a constant cooling effect, then what about the HOT cocoa, tea, gorsea tea(however you spell the yellow tea leaves), and coffee? does anyone know if that gives a warmth effect for when you are in the artic? also, i got through my lvls early on using hunting and skinning(yes i am spec'd into hunting while bro does mining and building) and it is still basically okay even now at lvl30. i do find it heavily relies on what lvl the animal is when you kill it and not sure if breed adds in also(like bears and large deer give more) but i know definitely the lvl is important. i gotta ask this question. if i research and craft that water jug and oxy tank to bring down on a drop, can i actually put it in the pod to bring back up to the station? i'd hate to have to pay to craft every single time so i gotta be a little like scrooge on this.
I thought you had to fill up the entire T1 tree to get to T2. My recommendation would be to take your time in the 1st drop to level before the game gets harder.
Im a new player of icarus. U said in the video something about trees and xp. I have other experience. Yes if i fall the tree i get this 300 xp‘s. But if i harvest the fallen tree i get also like 110 xp for every wood i take. So if u cut the tree and harvest the hole tree u got like 800xp or something like that. Is it because i play solo or maybe u don’t realize it? 🤔🤷🏻♂️
If it take 3 hit to cut to get 300xp it mean 100xp per hit, after it fell it take 2 hit atleast to cut next part which make 50xp per hit, so yes cuting only the first stage pay more
My tip to you is that the abbreviation "Nr" stands for "Near" not number Number for some unknown reason is "No." or "#" Also opinion but to rebuttal youra Ive been playing for weeks, loving it more every day, but i used to sandboxes with no missions/quests at all

The chopping tree tips was updated to 330 for each tree plus 110 per section picked up
Also taking the wood and turning it into walls then destroying them and repeating is the fastest way to level

Use the iron knife for bigger yields
Just subbed. Enjoying your Icarus videos bro!

You can also put a torch i your “L” slot on the left and hit “L” for light while you are doing other stuff
This is what the L slot was for!
Having trouble reaching ore in caves? Build a ramp! Thanks for tips! I pressed so many buttons to try and mark the map!
A Ladder also works wonder

I found in the early levels, if you craft stacks of arrows you level up super fast
i am sort of new and some of this helped me though most i knew because i have a vet friend

Lol I totally agree. Unfortunately when we made this video there was no “ light slot “
The last tip is a big deal!! Thank you!

Lol I been tried to figure out how to mark the map but never find out until now lmao
Now you get 100xp for cutting each section of tree into a log. Still nothing for collecting it
Tip 11 or extra bonus tip: not a lot of people know about this, but... you can press Spacebar to Jump! Wow, in my whole 40000 hours of playtime I didn't know that!
I think that simply having a water container in inventory or bar will provide the bonus/debug
did you mean debuff? no it's actually only when drinking it.

as long as u have then in you inventory youll keep them, the only way to lose them is dying and not retrieving ur belongings
Tip # 1 omg

Does run speed stack? 10% + 10% = 20%?
must real old post or think need up date? when tree fall you chop it think 6 time u get 100 xp pre chop
I've searched every menu and have no idea what "Exotics" are. Can't increase water or oxygen at level 1?!
Exotics are rare ores that you must unlock through one of the in game missions. The term exotic is also used to reference workshop items.

they updated it to give xp
👍👍👍
It took you 40 fkin hours to realize you put oxite in the OXYGEN spot? When you grab oxite the oxygen area flashes....man
It didn't use to do this haha!
First!
Nr 1 tip = the game sucks....gets super booring after 1 day.
My tip to you is that the abbreviation "Nr" stands for "Near" not number
Number for some unknown reason is "No." or "#"

Ive been playing for weeks, loving it more every day, but i used to sandboxes with no missions/quests at all
Yea..... I'm gonna need those TPS reports before the end of the day.
