This is just what I needed as I just upgraded to my very first engineer house last night! I have never been to this point before! This is my, oh, 10th attempt at the game since December. LOL So excited! But I was like, "What do I do first??? Know what? TAKA WILL KNOW!" 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻Such great tips here, like getting all the production buildings around electricity and moving some more stuff off-island, and keeping things simple and going slowly. I needed to know what production chains to avoid still, too, so that was also highly useful information. I'm going about 4 times slower than you are, as far as building up next tiers, but this attempt at a play through has been the most successful, much of it thanks to your videos. I got rid of ALL AI competitors and that really took the pressure off. I've been able to explore with balancing everything, building some ships, buying stuff, settling the new worlds a bit, selling soap to Eli... LOL So thanks for this, I'm going to spend my playtime today moving stuff around and shipping it back and forth between islands and getting things tickety-boo for going forward into Engineers!

Love your guides, I have the game since release but it had been really long since I last played. Started recently and my current game is bad because I am not doing as you suggest. There are really many things here and there to have attention on, this is not a simple game, need concentration. Will start a new sandbox very soon.

Ah! TYVM for those detailed explanations. I didnt work out nearly enough the maths of ROI for some of those production chains... "Unlock all needs, fulfill later" is the main idea I will keep in mind for engi's :) I also think that I understand much better the origin of a following problem : I build way too much everywhere, to try and compensate for the maintenance costs and workforce needs of those chains built too early, and when it's time to electrify, it's truly awful to get those railtracks and power stations in place! For that, I'll remember a simple KISS... "Keep it simple, silly!"
As for watches, if anyone is interested, I've got a nice idea here: if you're developing Crown Falls, you'll have to deal with lots of trading and I mean LOTS of trading and what can be better to trade for just about anything else you'll need than them gold watches, huh? (Note: this will only work, if you've enabled that mean jailer Eli Bleakworth. If you already are familiar with this strategy, good for you then...) For the gold watches production, you don't have to ship the gold ore all the way from The New World to Cape Trelawney, but of course, if you're fancy to do so, who's stopping you? Otherwise, you can always acquire plenty of gold ore from Eli and start making those watches yourself as soon as you've unlocked that option. Soon you'll have enough watches for your people, as well as for to trade with Tobias, or even sell some to Ketema, if you're fancy to do so, but don't forget to visit rude old Eli frequently for to buy more gold ore from him... Have fun!
Hi, I started playing about a month ago and have figured out many things on my own through trial and error. But I have been putting off going to Enbesa because it seems much more complicated with the water area. Are you going to have a video soon on how to set up the town in Enbesa to make it so you don't have to spend much time there? I also want to add that trade unions are a life saver. I was lucky to get one that allows you to skip most of the process for canned goods and just use pigs and iron ore. So no peppers, beef, goulash, just pigs and iron ore. Makes a huge difference. Thanks for the videos.
U got Chef Michel. He is argueble among the top 5 best specialists u can get before u reach endgame. Even in endgame he is just so strong removing multiple annoying buildings and replaces them with easy to blueprint pigs. Even easier if u have the bright harvest DLC to make use of the Silos. There is another specialist i tend to prioratise if i ever se her and that is (Perfumier Prunella (EPIC)) She is a money printer. Her benefits is that she replaces the input of your Soap factorys from Tallow to basic Wood. She also 100% removes the attractivness penaltys from the Soap factorys if u happen to have them on your population islands. The way to make maximum use of her is to setup an island close to the prison and start mass producing Soap while having trade ships constantly go back and forth betwinn that island and the prison selling everything. Before start using commuter piers workforce would be the limiting factor but after that u could really start amping up the production.

No, it has to connect up... sorry I thought that would be obvious haha. If you build a refinery with no connection to the oil harbor you'll get an error on the refinery telling you it needs the connection.
4:00 Not only he sells pocketwatches Keteema buys, he later sells gramophones Keteema also buys. This saved my game, almost 2 million profit per run, can negate my 60 000/minute outcome :D Also it is important to mention when trading game sometimes reduces your money below zero, causing you to lose so yea, always have some money so trading wont get you in red numbers.

I know that trick about bringing gold watches to Enbesa, but because sailing back and forth takes quite a bit, I prefer constructing gunboats (yes, dozens of them, lol!) and selling them to Blake.

I just got to engineers and I have $21.3m with a positive income of around $15k-$20k income and I still don’t want to produce anything over what my population needs.
Just means your economy and production chains need to be looked at and balanced. Once you get that rhythm down, you rarely ever have fluctuating income
@19:19 how do you do that when you put your mouse on the iron ore icon on the clipper, the island map on the right side shows the quantity in every island you own. I don't remember my game doing that.
I'm New to this series and after finding out it's coming to consoles I can't wait! I'm a big fan of games like tropico etc. I just have one question, does this game force you to expand/upgrade due to rivals doing the same or can you do this at your own pace? I like to take my time with things and micromanage just about everything. Cheers

This is probably not the right video to say this is but there is a town hall item that can give you free canned food for your people if they have the variety theatre fulfilled. Its called the "actor", a woman with a theatre mask.
Daring of you to use a measly schooner to transport watches worth more than a million. What if a little pirate ship sinks it? I use a warship for that trade. Making production islands is a stupid idea, you need to limit it as much as possible IF you are close to reaching your influence limit. Every trade ship takes influence, every island, every military place, all trade unions etc. Its a very valuable resource. I move things away but I try to supply as much as possible locally.
What if the little pirates are the best trade partners usually and it's best to befriend them and make money from them? How about that? Any experienced player will tell you that influence is irrelevant. It's only an early-mid game constraint and then you have plenty once you hit investors. Production island vs local is a pure playstyle choice. The benefit only extends to how well it suits your gameplay. I have done both methods, even mixed them up, and shown the value of doing lots of different things.
Those are called white flags... You can buy them at Isabel's Harbor in the New World or at Nate's Harbor in Cape Trelawney. You can also randomly find them on certain expeditions or craft them at the research institute.
From my noob perspective generally playing against easy AI or non at all... just to build nice cities. Income and price of production chains does not concern me at all. I usually go for VERY LARGE populations before doing significant upgrades. If I already have thousands of artisans living on my island, providing spectacles for few hundred engineers doesnt even leave a dent in my economy. I would assume that, things would be quite different against hard AI's or other players though as you need to be fast and agressive in claiming islands and defending what you already own! Hard AI's are already quite agressive and you really cant sit on your arse else you will be left with no islands to claim at all. I personally dont like playin like that, i rather just chill, take things slow, half the time finding myself decorating parts of the city for hours etc...

By the time you reach investors you should easily be able to afford buying steel (plus wood and bricks) from Archibald on every island in the old world. It's great for stockpiling. Over than that, 3-6 steelworks should be enough for casual gaming. Just make sure you store enough, so that it can pile up while you are doing other things
There is only so much oil available in the Old World/Cape Trelawney. Most oil comes from the New World or you can boost output of Old World oil wells instead.
The pocket watch trade adds to your total amount of coins over time but it doesn't do anything for your per minute to balance. Unless you want to constantly be losing money and only surviving on selling goods, I would advise making sure that you have positive balances all around.

That's a good idea: 3:2 Kitchens to Canneries. Right now, I've got 1:1 and my one Cannery is running at only 75% to 80% efficiency.

Amazing how your incoming is so solid. Mine will jump from +23k to minus 6k in just a few minutes and I play at the next slowest speed.

I just produce more fur coats and sell to madam Kahina in the old world. Thats a good way to make alot of money fast too.
