Number one, I really feel your stories about being a huge screw up when you were younger and seeing the evidence of all the growing and improving you have made is my story to a T. Number 2 Seeing your mature take on music. I was born in 85 and remember kids would have lost their lives if they admitted to liking certain bands, BSB, GREEN DAY, Creed etc. I remember all the stupid gatekeeper shit us "Real fans" all the bands we had to pretend to be super into and all the bad bands we had to either vocally hate or sneak a listen to on the dl while simultaneously disssing them. I used to be that guy and after growing I hate that guy. Number 3 you have been more influential than almost all of my homies as you were able to get us to give new bands a try. I moved my wife and kids to Shenzhen China back in 2013 and brought two 500 disc cases of 80s and 90s cartoons, only show them 80s music movies usually etc. was also massive into hip hop all that blah blah. I just had given up on new music almost 100 percent. after 2 weeks of your videos got into Ronnie Rad (who didnt even know who he was.) Jxdn, Young bludd, etc all dope. Its good to hearr ya be real BUT..................... Where you put the Dreamcast on this list is unforgivable! Unsubbed. hahahha. I am joking but the Dreamcast Changed my life. PS3 is S Tier for me. The free online, Blu-ray player and rechargeable controller made up for lack of exclusives. OG Xbox is A Tier. Exclusives weren’t good. But the Controller S is still one of the best controllers ever. And every game that was cross-platform looked and played better than on PS2. And a lot of games had the ability to listen to your own music while you played. Shooting my way through streets of Verblensk in BLACK while the theme to “Pokémon: The First Movie” plays in the background will always be a fond memory.
OG Xbox had a core of extremely strong exclusives, imo. Star Wars:Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best rpg's of all time, and Bioware' s other offerings like KotOR 2 and Jade Empire were also good. Of course, Halo 1+2. Forza Motorsport. Online shooters like Mechwarrior and Crimson Skies were a lot of fun. To put it below GameCube doesn't make a lot of sense to me based on 3rd party support.

The original Xbox also catered to me well enough with exclusives like HALO 1 and HALO 2, as well as awesome Light Gun games, such as House of the Dead 3, Silent Scope Complete, as well as Starsky and Hutch (2 Player multiplayer mode). So, the PS3 and original Xbox were solid in my book, at least an A tier for both of them, if not higher.
The GameCube was actually pretty powerful compared to the other consoles on the market at the time. It was more powerful than the PS2 and quiet a bit more powerful than Dreamcast.
I'm probably a similar age (I'm 35)... and your list is pretty spot on! Playstation and SNES are my favorites of all time. And I agree with your "controversial" takes as well, like XBox and GameCube and stuff.
Haven't watched this yet, but since Finn talks about 90's JRPGs and Super Metroid, I'm assuming SNES is S tier. Also, he uses the MGS codec sound effect and talks about FF7, so I'm thinking PS1 is A or S.
I'll tell you what the ps3 Era was my favorite Era of gaming next to the snes. Also the first gen backwards compatible ps3 is awesome and super rare/expensive.
I don't think Finn plays many games. The original Xbox pioneered online play. Xbox Live's foundation was on the original console and all online services on consoles today exist because of it. It also created all the shooter controls we use today. It was twice as powerful as the PS2. It had all of the western RPGs on it like Fable and Morrowind. Easily A tier console. Also, the community of people that use and mod that console every day wildly eclipses people that still use the PS2.
The PSP was awesome. If they came out with modern version with a better screen and connectivity, I'd definitely grab one. Liked that you could play music and games off an SD card. The PSP disk things themselves need a rework as well, they were so fragile.
I love Finn’s twitch clip tier list videos for sure. As I am close to Finn’s age, I can say that we have similar memories with gaming consoles. I’d have to say my top consoles throughout my childhood to now would be: SEGA Genesis, SUPER Nintendo, N64, PS2, PS4 & OCULUS. This is my opinion of course lol
The later iterations of the Xbox 360 after launch were much better quality wise. I own a black Xbox 360 was fucking great. My brother bricked it but It lasted me years
I have a large collection of OG Xbox games. Have you heard of Mechassault? Tao Feng? There are certainly some hidden gems that you missed, Finn. But anyway, Great vid as always, my man!
Love this video. Hope to see more. Most of my favorite games that I have ever played were played on the Xbox 360 and the OG Playstation, so those have to be S-tier for me. I would love to see you add some more of the handheld stuff in a later video. For me, GBC is S-tier despite its only difference being a simple gimmick. I played the Dragon Warrior and Pokemon games until the cartridges failed.
Love the gaming content man! Really switches things up on this channel. I grew up on the Nintendo DS due to Pokémon, Metroid, etc. And Xbox because Halo was my favorite shooter franchise, I really enjoyed Gears of War on the 360 as well, and even though I game a lot on my PC nowadays, my fave console this Gen is definitely the PS4, they really stepped it up since the PS3 imo

The dreamcast was a great console for fighting game fans. Soul Calibur, and a bunch of awesome capcom fighters like project justice, street fighter ports, MvC, techromancer, etc etc.
Finally a video where Finn and I both agree on something! I recently bought a used but very clean Super Nintendo which included Mario All Stars! My son who’s 5 at the moment is playing Mortal Kombat 2 as I type this! Such a blast from the past. Unfortunately, I destroyed my original SNES in a fit of rage when my step dad pissed me off lol Glad to see the classic Super Nintendo up at the top!!

I really enjoyed your opinions on games consoles even if I disagree with quite a few points you made. I like these style uploads though Finn good work.
This is a great video, as a fellow child of your era (born in '78) I progressed Atari -> NES -> SNES -> N64 -> PS2 -> XBOX360 -> Switch. All of those were groundbreaking at the time for all the reasons you mentioned. Somehow, my XBOX360 still works and can still download content, which is remarkable. I also had a Wii mixed in - and I think this is the one take that I strongly disagree with, but it has to do with how one looks at the Wii. As a pure console, the Wii sucked. Simply not good looking, library is bad, etc. As an experience - it's S tier. I have so many fond memories of parties and gatherings that involved the Wii and some of those games (provided no one broke anything) that it's kinda always been its "own thing". The motion processing of it was excellent for its time and the games can be addictive in short doses. Boom Blox was awesome, of course Sports and its corollaries, etc.
That boxing game on Dreamcast was legit. Maniac Mansion was my favorite NES game and the gold cartridge Link game. Oh the day's of "pfffffffffft" in the slot and cartridge lol
You need to try out all the amazing shoot-em-ups for Saturn like DoDonPachi, Radiant Silvergun, and Batsugun. Most of them were only released in Japan though. Sounds like you missed them. Don't underestimate the power of Saturn. Was very successful in Japan. Anyway, SNES! Best console of all time!
If I could only bring one console to an island but could play any game it natively supported og ps3 all tha way. Could play ps1, and ps2 games also had a rechargeable wireless controller that lasted a good while off cable also had a built in bluray which wasnt cheap at the time. Xbox 360 sucked didn't mention if u bumped it and it ruined ur disc or the controllers eating AA batteries like a mw2 player did doritos. And as a massive pokemon fan as a kid DS was the best handheld because it also had backwards compatibility do the GBA library and it was dope cause you could carry 2 games at a time on the system. Now the most durable piece of tech next to a Nokia is probably the GBA SP (jared u legend) me and my friend dropped them tons of times and both had run ins with submersion and it kept going plus the link cable was so cool.

I think I agree with just about everything except for the PS3 ranking. The "Uncharted" series and "God of War 3" are a few of my favorite games; at the time, the only appeal of the Xbox 360 was that it had "Bioshock", but once they made that for PS3, it was pretty much a perfect console for me.
Yeah, the PS3 catered well enough to me since I'm an FPS and Light Gun type of guy.
With awesome FPS games like Killzone 2 and 3, and Resistance 1, 2, and 3, and MAG, along with ports of awesome Light Gun arcade games with the PS Move controller, such as Time Crisis 4, RAZING STORM, House of the Dead 4, Deadstorm Pirates, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Dead Space: Extraction, House of the Dead: OVERKILL, and many other bangers.
Ahh Finn, a true man of culture making a console tier list. S tier vid.
Castlevania on the DS! My man! It's sad that they've seemingly been completely forgotten about. They just released a GBA Castlevania collection on the Switch, I'm really hoping they do the same for the DS games. With how popular 2D Metroidvanias have become, more people should get to experience them.
Yess i been saying I'm happy about advance collection and hope there's a DS collection but Konami lazy and they'd have to do work bc of the dual screens to 1 screen so don't know. Really wish they would tho
The guy behind these games created his own Franchise named Bloodstained.
Ao they never disappeared they just changed names.
I'm 6 months late, but thanks to you, I now have this on Steam.
FINN long time sub, I remember chatting with you on instagram before you had 2k subs.. crazy. Ima buy a shirt cuz your videos are great although I’ve disagreed a few times. Keep it up bro
Thanks for all the support!
Best thing about dreamcast was perfect arcade ports of Marvel Vs Capcom 1 and 2. Shenmue was pretty cool. The 90s were fun..
SNK ports on the Dreamcast were really good too.
Dont forget solid ports of PC games, such as the amazing port of QUAKE 3 ARENA for the Dreamcast, which came complete with epic online multiplayer.
But the PS3 was KNOWN for their exclusives! Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Killzone, God of War, Resistance, Motorstorm, The Last of Us, Ratchet, Demon Souls, Infamous, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid 4 to name a few. I'd say only the snes or ps1 comes close to the quality and amount of exclusive games. Respect for shouting out mg acid on psp though, a very interesting and fun take on the series not enough people talk about.
In my opinion the PSP and PS3 are the greatest game consoles of all time, ENORMOUS libraries of amazing exclusives and a beautiful ui with the XMB that made them far more than consoles, they were full blown media centres.
Im just waiting for Finn to turn into a swap meet going, shelf collecting gamer. Then to evolve into a balding overweight, neck beard who does nothing gaming related and turned into an anti SJW drama channel.
LOL. I was one of those collectors about 20 years ago, thank god I grew out of that
Anti SJWs are safe but sjws need to go away
Great video Finn, I'm same age as you so I remember all these, but you did miss out the Commodore 64 with the cassette cartridges LOL!!!
Gonna pick up an Edgy Font shirt bro
Loved the c64!
Super Mario Bros. 3 was the first game that I remember highly anticipating to be released. I only owned one for a couple of years before the SNES was released though.
Bought SNES on day of release, and finished Super Mario World the same day!
When PS1 was released I had a dream that I got one and was really happy, but then I woke up, and was devastated that I didn't have one!
Same here. 84 baby, got an NES when I was like 5-6? long after it launched, and the SNES was the first system I was PSYCHED to get (which I got for Christmas when I was 8). I'll never forget the first commercial I saw and seeing the big boo in Mario World, I distinctly remember FREAKING THE FUCK OUT, lol.
Yep, saw The Wizard in the movie theater on opening weekend. The release of SM3 absolutely blew me away
GameCube over PS3 any day. Love the video! Do more of these.
Bruh nostalgia blinds people also no
Uncharted 1-3 was on the PS3. That wasn’t everyone’s jam, but was definitely a good game & really popular. MLB the Show was a PS exclusive too, which was really popular & easily the best baseball game across all consoles.
These games have aged poorly people don't care for them anymore.
Scripted games generally were a fad.
The PS3 catered well enough to me since I'm an FPS and Light Gun type of guy.
With awesome FPS games like Killzone 2 and 3, and Resistance 1, 2, and 3, and MAG, along with ports of awesome Light Gun arcade games with the PS Move controller, such as Time Crisis 4, RAZING STORM, House of the Dead 4, Deadstorm Pirates, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Dead Space: Extraction, House of the Dead: OVERKILL, among many other bangers.
I bought gamecube because of RE4 exclusive at the time and Twin Snakes. Plus it had Zelda, Metroid and REmake. I was really gone for a year into those games and it was my first non-pirated console. And it had probably best controller in the industry.
Literally the single soonest day it could have been shipped upon release, the tenant before me ordered the highest tier package bundle for the PS5 to my apartment. I got in contact with the guy who bought it to give it back(because it was obviously expensive), but he was just like “haha, its okay dude. That was my own mistake. Just keep it. I already have another on the way. Consider it a housewarming gift”. He was a real one lemme tell you
Holy shit lol
I don't care if you're gay, bi, or flat out straight, you should marry that man..
PS3: Uncharted and Last of Us Exclusives come to mind immediately. Also Motorstorm Pacific Rift.
I was one of the few kids with a 3DO. My dad worked for Sony and won it at work. It was such a wild experience that my first game system was a 3DO and then point and click quest for glory style games on pc lol
Has nothing to do with metal but talking about normal stuff like this, with a metal community, really makes my heart throb.. There's something so wholesome about it.
I wanted a dreamcast so bad back in the day, but my dad couldn't find any. We ended up getting a ps1 instead (we were a bit behind) but that was where I started my love for sony.
Too bad Sony became the anticosumer juggernaut we have today...
@@adlerdefender8067 How so?
@@joshkuchmy8801 they didn't want cross play, they charge for the upgrade, no backwards capable etc
@@adlerdefender8067 Sure not wanting cross play is a weird decision. Charging for upgrades, didn't they kind of go back on that? Even still, there is still work done on those upgrades, so I don't see an issue with that in certain circumstances. At least now when you buy a game you get the ps4 and ps5 version together.
And backwards compatibility is not as easy as it may seem. Yes microsoft did it, but they have tons and tons and tons more money than sony has.
@@joshkuchmy8801 ??? More money? Sony has been in the game since late 90's at one point the Ps2 was the most sell console so money shouldn't be an issue. Sony is just anti consumer, they just take advantage of their fanbase just like Apple does..
My ps3 ran for like 20 years straight. They built a tank. It's still going today
PS3 is the goat console.
@@lucymorrisongoat console, but games were better on ps2
Holy shit finally someone else that knows how awesome Jeanne D’Arc is that game deserved so much more attention
I JUST Subscribed this week . showed my wife. she did too. you were quickly becoming my fav youtuber. a couple of reasons.
I was locked up in a place called the Utah Boys Ranch as a teenager nick named the Mormon Gulag and actually the DC was instrumental in keeping me a live , now that I think about it . the 1st video I ever made when I didn't know how to produce vids on this channel While living in Shenzhen was my Dreamcast story if ya wanna hear it.
any way take back what you said about my best friend and I will let it slide.
apologies for voice to text typos. Keep it up Finn I think you are friends with my famous UA-camr buddy from China Laowai86. Tell him Kodak Says hi. I have some vids roasting him and Serpentza back in the day . lol
Thanks man! Yes I know him, I used to go to shenzhen a lot
I never had a console in my life and I hate videogames. Why am I even watching this? 😂 At this point I'm gonna watch anything that Finn puts out 😁
I'm so sorry 😟
How can you hate video games? That’s like saying “I hate fun”.
Dude, I can’t believe you had a PSP signed by project 86. That’s so cool, I loved that band around the time, truthless hero’s was suck a sick album. Anyway, I’d have fought you for that PSP.
Shout out to myself for still having my orange 9/9/99 Dreamcast t-shirt that I got for free on launch night! 🤘
Here's a throwback I remember. The PS3 playing Spiderman 3 in a display case in Blockbuster. What a staple in time.
@@mattb.2740every generation always has and always will lose to a PS. PS3 is definitely the best system overall of the 21 century. I like my 4 and 2 was really good, I’ll get around to the 5 but everything Microsoft sucks.
The graphics in soul calibur II were mind-blowing
Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2 and almost as powerful as the Xbox. Also, thanks for mentioning Canon Spike. I loved that game.
That's hilarious dude it's not tho sorry Nintendo was always behind with technology
PS3 is peak gaming.
Skipped to the end, glad I didn't watch.
It's over, Xbox bros.
PS3 Later in it's life had both GTA V and TLOU as exclusives, mega hits.
What if somebody else played the whole goddanm Saturn collection and had a much different option about it than you
How would you feel
No Gameboy?! XD I wish I grew up with games more but I was more of an outside kid. I had the GameCube and the Wii and the PS3 and the PS4.
Your musical takes are very spicy. I think you have the right personality for a very entertaining gaming channel.
Please more video game vids! This was so much fun! Well done Finn!
You name dropping “Tomba” makes me so happy!! What a great series
YES MY SONNN!! You are truly tapping into your personal channel. I hope your Missus can find her way too soon
The PSP was awesome. If they came out with modern version with a better screen and connectivity, I'd definitely grab one. Liked that you could play music and games off an SD card. The PSP disk things themselves need a rework as well, they were so fragile.
I watched Old Boy and The Butterfly Effect for the first time on PSP UMD. Definitely the best way to watch a movie.
19:27 "Look at this monstrosity"
Yeah, AVGN also said it looks like the damn console is on life support.
The SNES is my pick as the best game system. It’s peak giga chad in terms of 2D RPGs. I just love the music and the sound of the SNES. Classic ❤
S: Ps1,Dreamcast, Super Nintendo, Neogeo
A: NES, PS4, XBOX 360, Switch, saturn, PSP, Gameboy, Genesis
B: PS3, Wii, Game cube, XBX1, PSV, NDS, 3DS
C: Master System, Atari, Game Gear, NGP
I bought a second hand game cube with a load of games for ten pounds a few years back and was amazed how much fun it was. I had the PS2 at the time and didn’t know anyone with the game cube so it totally flew by me. Really great underrated console that just came out at the wrong time.
An example of the game that is must have on the wii: metroid prime trilogy. Change my mind
GAMECUBE sucked nuts! I worked at a Funco land when that thing came out and the only real draw anyone I knew saw in it was how small it was.
i love these sorts of vids finn! my first console was an xbox 360 and i used to love playing minecraft on it!
My "Big 4" which I have hooked up to a crt at all times, is NES, SNES, Genesis and PS1. But I gottay say, I've got a real soft spot for the Dreamcast.
Skies of Arcadia was a dreamcast exclusive RPG and that game was absolutely amazing
There was a great GameCube port later on as well!
@@eyehatescott I i'm well-aware. I logged hundreds of hours on that game.
The dreamcast was a great console for fighting game fans. Soul Calibur, and a bunch of awesome capcom fighters like project justice, street fighter ports, MvC, techromancer, etc etc.
That cartoon monster shirt is pretty rad. Might have to snag one. Keep up the grind Finn!
How did u skip Xbox one, Gameboy, and Sega genesis?
Ngl, I kinda like the wood paneling look to old consoles, if companies tried to modernize it with new consoles, I think it’d look pretty badass
Nothing beats the sound of a 360 fan going super saiyan while ripping through horde mode in gears of war
I was waiting to see where the SNES was on the list.. Glad to see it in S tier, I still play super Mario and Metroid on mine from time to time. They definitely still hold up.
Yeah super mario world is easily one of the greatest games ever made. That map is so sick!
I mean, it's literally in the name. SNES is short for S-tier NES.
Did you ever play Final Fantasy Crisis Core on the PSP? Fantastic game.
My first console was also the NES, but i'm 28, so that was around 1999 or so jajajaja 15 years after it release
These tier list videos are *god* tier.
Finn’s Tier videos: S Tier
Finn’s Music Eras: A Tier
PRMBA: B Tier
Just saying lol. Keep all the great content coming. Great breadth of content and personality and life snippets.
Thank you! I agree
This made for an awesome video, thank you
I really enjoyed your opinions on games consoles even if I disagree with quite a few points you made. I like these style uploads though Finn good work.
Enjoyed the video but how low you place the GameCube and the original Xbox in the ranking is baffling to me.
This is cool to see as I had no idea you are so into games. It's sad you really missed out on the Xbox 360 though.
Unfortunately i wanted to know what tier you give the genesis/mega drive. Please share!!
I never thought I'd hear Finn talk about TWEWY. Bro really knows his stuff!
What about magnavox odyssey or colecovision?
Love your channel!!
Thank you!
Yep I had all those back in 99 or so! I was a big fan of all the Treasure stuff, didn’t miss anything.
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA Amazing! Glad to hear that. Big Treasure fan myself.
Have you ever played thrill kill on PS1? Lol this video was so rad! Now I want to go buy a system.
