I purchased a Proyama auger, I've been using a friends old hand auger and finally decided to buy a one, under $100, how could you go wrong. Its unbelievable! I hooked it up to my DeWalt XR 20v drill and it will cut through 12 inchs of ice in less then 15 seconds! I drilled around 20 holes with a 2ah battery! Even using the hand crank it cuts good! I will never go back to using a hand auger after using this setup with a drill. Awesome Price, Awesome Performance, Awesome Product!
I ran the 24v strikemaster the last 3 seasons. I love the idea of it, light weight and compact, but I had some issues with it cutting out and stopping halfway through a hole, and didn’t get much help from SM customer service. I sold the 24v yesterday and ordered the the Eskimo 40v 8” composite version. If anything, I have a new auger under warranty for 5 years now, for not a lot of $$ after selling that SM 24v. Any speed or battery life improvement is just a bonus at this point
Dang it i just pulled the trigger on one with a free second battery. Thats what got me! Dont think i really needed it but i ran someones strikemaster and it was so smooth compared to my Milwaukee with k-drill. Really liked everything i was hearing about this one and i like Eskimo products so far
It spins slower than the 24v Strikemaster due to the gearing, so it has a lot more torque than the 24v and can handle a 10" bit. That is probably what you are noticing.
Knowing they come from the same parent company as the Ion, I'm sure they were able to validate the composition of it against what they proved with the Alpha. So I have a lot of confidence in it, but to your point, it hasn't gone through the paces yet. But I will be able to tell you the end of this season!
Hmmm , my wife bought me an Ion R1 steel 8" for Christmas. It was only 325.00 and that was about her limit . Now I'm seeing this Eskimo E40 that weighs 10 lbs less and a 100.00 or so more. Do I keep the ion or return and pay the difference for the 10 lbs lighter weight and better handle design?
I have a strikemaster but I genuinely like Eskimo products more than any other brands. Also my 24v has needed a battery replacement(it went bad) and a power head replacement in the three years I've had it
Not only that but maybe I have another defective power head or battery but when I'm drilling, it will just randomly stop and I have to press the buttons back in. It's annoying. Maybe it's a cold battery too but I usually keep them warm
@@camerongoltz5578 Thinking about pulling the trigger on the Eskimo but hate to purchase first year items. I know it has the warranty so that may persuade me somewhat.

Just ordered the E40 8" Composite. Too bad they don't still have the promo for the extra battery.

Getting are first snow and -0 weather in montana can't wait for hard water,
Ahh! Not coming here in Minnesota for a while! Hopefully a great ice season for you!
Also in montana. Cannot wait! This will be our first year ice fishing. I purchased one of these E40 augers with the scheels promo

You are going to love it!!
I did the same thing, replacing my Eskimo macko gas auger.
I’ve been using the Eskimo pistol bit for 3 seasons. Probably going to purchase the E40 if I can get my hands on one here in Toronto Canada 🎣
Should be able to soon from what I've heard!
Did you end up grabbing one?
That’s a clean looking auger!!
This must have been filmed in March/April of 23’?
How bout a pistol bit on a clam plate vs the e40
Bought one last week
Heck yeah!!
I got the e40 a few days ago.... and not going to lie it felt sluggish compared to my 24v strikemaster.....

Does that auger have a neutral position for the switch?
No, it's either forward or reverse
OK my first thought is will this "composite" make the entire season.

Do you think it has enough power for the 10 inch bit? I am looking for a bigger auger for the house and the black friday price seems very reasonable.
Oh yes, plenty of power for the 10" either steel or the composite
Do I go with this e40 that only comes with one battery or a ion “g2” that comes with 2 battery’s for the same price?? 🤔
I say E40, plus right now several free battery promos on the E40

Ion way more than that now. Keep it
@richardjurgens4511 the Ion R1 still $325 on Amazon.
Have a K Drill right now. I am looking at this auger vs the Strikemaster. Either will be the composite version.

Looking more into this auger - does it come with a blade cover?
Yes it does have a plastic blade cover
Can you use the alpha batteries on this one?
No unfortunately not
@@AlexTimm dang. Ok thanks bud.
