Jack Daniel's Coy Hill Small Batch Review! Too HOT or too GOOD!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- Jack Daniel’s Small Batch Special Release Coy Hill High Proof was originally released last fall as a single barrel expression. But this summer approximately 55 barrels that had an extraordinary level of angel’s share (evaporation of the whiskey as it ages) and were deemed unsuitable for single barrel release have been batched together for this rocket fuel of a whiskey. While the original single barrel release varied between about 137 and 148 proof, this new limited-edition Tennessee whiskey was batched together at five different proof points: 143.6, 147.3, 149.8, 153.2 and 155.1. The mashbill is the same Jack Daniel’s recipe as Old No. 7, 80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley and 8 percent rye. The whiskey comes in smaller 375ml bottles that will be available throughout Tennessee and at the distillery’s shop for $55.

It's not about the whiskey, it's the people you share it with!

I agree with you on 375 ml bottles. One of the most annoying things about being a whiskey enthusiast is I almost always have to buy 750 ml bottles. Only the biggest distilleries have 375 ml for their most popular products, and I'd gladly pay the $1-2 more that is charged for Maker's 46, Knob Creek, etc. if it means I can try more. And Jack Daniel's does it right, those 750 ml and 375 ml bottles are arguably the best glassware to reuse for bottle shares or infinity bottles.
100% with you on the 375mL bottles. More please!
The difference in the cork pop probably has more to do with the size of the bottle
Can’t imagine spending an insane secondary price for a 375 ml bottle…. Props to Jack for killing it with these releases though.
I saw these for $450 same day as they released and I almost died
Have never had a Coy Hill, but Jack has been killing it lately
These bottles are changing everything about JD.
Great review as always!
I think it said they small batched it because there wasn't enough in the barrels for single barrel releases.
Thank you for the review, I was one of the crazy people in line at white rabbit on the first and was able to get the 155.1 and people who didn’t get lucky enough to get a place in line was offering 500 to buy from folks. Even if I wasn’t in the running to get a bottle that day, The experience and getting to meet some good people over a hunt for a bottle of whiskey is a great day.
Here here!! Smaller bottle offerings and more accessibility!! Hell! Upcharge the smaller bottle so the bottom line is not impacted as much, but let us all have a shot!!
I will say what I’m sure most people are gonna say…..man I wish I could have grabbed one of those bottles!! I do dig the 375’s for certain releases!!
Tried a sample of the Coy Hill last year and preferred the previous BP Rye release! So freaking good! Hoping they do another BP Rye
Definitely interesting to hear about a juice that I will NEVER get to taste. Thanks, Jason.
oh so lil jealous. would love to try this one. But not available in Texas. Trying a hazmat is also on my bucket list. so one day... thanks for sharing.
Jason, I was lucky enough to grab a Coy Hill in Maryland today for 70 bucks. Brother that juice is all of it. Your review was right on point. My bottle clocked in at 142.8*. It’s definitely not a daily sipper. 😂
Thanks for taking one for the team! When I first heard about the release, I thought the 375 ml was a great idea.
I’d really just love to try this because what ADHD puts it as, it’s like beautiful bourbon extract. The compact flavors are just insane. That’s what I’m looking for.
Was lucky enough to get a Coy Hill last year and it's as good as everyone says. Hopefully they'll do it again this year and wishing you luck in getting one. Also worth $20 pour at a bar if you get the opportunity.
Saw a dude turn down a THH and another turn down 2 RHF plus 200 lol. I’d do 100 max on it. 800 is INSANE!!!
I definitely need one of these. The Barrel Proof Rye gift shop 375ml release from last year was awesome
Awesome review the coy hill last year was in my top 3 for the year. Was sad to see this was TN only but looks like I’m not missing out too much since I still have some coy hill 2021 left
We've been kicking around the idea of LEs in 375s on Discord for what, 2+ years now? Now that I finally see the plan in action, I like it even more.
Love the eyes watering at 5:45 😅
Had a 148.3 but traded it for a 20 GTS and 20 OFBB.
Just came across this channel, absolutely killin it with the intro
I think we can all agree it is not necessarily the proof, it is the quality of proof, as witnessed on the infamous ECBP slipisode, cheers!
Where did you get that awesome shirt! I need one! Especially since I'll never be lucky enough to get a coy hill 😂
What Kyle said ☝️
Same! Want that shirt!!
Jack Daniels is killing it !! So want one of these
Was looking forward to your review of this release, someone that can take the heat and still do it justice :)
I’ll never see one in person……But, in my dreams I have 1.75 of it
My daily sipper and my daily snus is Siberia
The little bottles are cool.
Here for the mega Coy Hill blend!! 😆🤩🥃🥃🥃
Love the content! Keep doing these awesome reviews 👍🏼
Where did you score the Old Forester hat?
I need to find one of those fire 🔥 bottles to add to the collection 🤙
I'm in tennessee and I hope I can find a bottle! Thank for the review.
Thank you for not doing a final breakdown!
I had 3 JDCH barrels. The first one was a little better than the second and much better than the third. As a matter of a fact, after I popped the third, I am not drinking it down that fast. My magic barrel was 139.5, so the trade values of 140+ being higher is ridiculous. Proof does not equal flavor. But we have nothing else to go on.
I wish this were more widely available, but it is what it is.
I also have the 139.5 bottle and its amazing..
@@brandonvankampen5588, my barrel # is 21-08148. It is so great and trades below the 140+ value, which is ridiculous. These are all high proof, some barrels are just better than others.
"Anything that gets to a hazmat or higher proof point...people go bananas for."
I see what you did there.
Au contrair! Blending them IS brilliant!
I see how you said "go bananas for" when talking about JD.
Jason C: yeah unfortunately this is the only one I have left of these.
Everyone else that couldn't get even one: 😒😒😒
Awesome video
ECBP should do 375's they already have the bottles for the Small Batch. $35 for 375's
Great show as usual dude, Coy Hill fucken rocks !!!
Wouldn’t the change in bottle pop sound be more to do with the bottle size than the cork itself?
BLEND IT . . . BLEND IT!!! LOL
Is there somewhere I can go online about rules/guidelines for the blending competition or an entry form coming up in September?
Off topic a bit, that lucky 7 14yr, is it REALLY as close to Kok as iv been hearing???
my coy hill bottle is the only thing i've not opened yet! you know the reason they didn't release it in greater quantities was because they didn't have enough glass to do it right?
The WB Saffel and Bond & Lillard were 375s only. That was around 2 years ago. I’m OK with 375s, but they get lost on the shelf. 800 on secondary for a 375 though?
Bourbon has become more about maxxx profitz then opening/enjoying/sharing....it's more less, "how much money can I make"....
JD WHISKEY CHEERS 😎😎😎😎
Great review! Would love to get a pour. Not to be a dick but bottles were out of focus.
What is that thing call that had the water
👍
So. Make it a JDSBBP. Got it…..
So you're saying you WOULD or WOULD NOT try to trade one of these for a RR13 + some cash? :)
Nice!!!
Is this still available at the JD store?
What is that shirt and where can I get one?!
Is it legal for Jack to make 155 proof whiskey? I thought the cap for proof was 140.
Yes it is legal
@@elicook152 Double checked and I was thinking of the limits on alcohol in checked bags, had that confused with production limits.
I thought Jack Daniel's likes to consider itself a Tennessee whiskey even though it is technically a bourbon. Bourbon can't be barreled higher than 125 proof so this special release technically can't be a bourbon
Yes this can be a bourbon. Proof changes in the barrel depending on climate. It's the reason this was a special release. Super high proof due to where it is in the warehouse and aging conditions.
Again... Where did you get that shirt?

When it comes to limited and available largely at the distillery shop, doesn't this compare to things like Birthday Bourbon at O.F.? Indeed, if this trend continues--which I hope it does--some of those custom Makers blends/stave things like the wonderful one you created I'm still sipping could become company limited releases, too.
Would you say the sh!t is bananas? B-A-N-A-N-A-S?
LOL… Holy Hell
Yes, I watched the review, but what is the point of it? Reviewing something that most people will never even get the chance to see, much less taste, seems pointless. It doesn’t help the average Joe bourbon enthusiast in any way. I’d much rather see a review of something I might actually find at some point.
I have plenty of those reviews but sometimes it's fun to taste these crazy releases.
Enjoy a review of something 98% can't get? Haha
Favorite part of the video 3:32 - 3:39 . Your charcoal filtering isn't special Tennessee , get over it .
WOW!! 153 proof! Zowie…. Only in KN?! Com’on man….
