    The fact that Cooper Howard mentions a ranch in Bakersfield makes me think he might be a Vault 12 Ghoul. After his divorce he may have moved there

      Him moving to Bakersfield post divorce makes a lot of sense, but it’s hard to imagine him wanting anything to do with Vault-Tec after he came to know them as they truly are.

    I don’t like it either, but Kid in a Fridge is canon, so clearly in the Fallout universe refrigerators can survive nukes, it’s established canon.

    @elvisibra 5 місяців тому +1

    Yes I mentioned Max and his fridge and how hiding like that can be only by those who know about the nuke (Indiana Jones), and "3 day's walk distance", I mean, what was that dropped on Shady? A Tsar Bomb? 😅 unless walked really slow cause had their foot crashed like Thadd (3-5 at least days need for what takes one average).
    Outsiders in vault 4 were part of vault program of "luring" new test sibjects that was pre-built/prepared for inevitable case of running out of their initial "80 inhabitants", also reason why (descendants of) original dwellers have mutations

    I think we’re going to find out in a future season that Vault Tec was much more heavily tied to the Enclave than we already knew they were. I would not be shocked it is to the level of “they were essentially different branches of the same organizations with the head of Vault Tec being a high ranking member of the Enclave,” even. It makes how they’re being portrayed here make a lot of sense.

    Maximus is such an interesting character to me, he seems to me, to be an ideal member of say lyon’s brotherhood, he seems to genuinely idealize the ideas of honorable knights that save others, whereas the brotherhood as a whole at the time of the show has become quite corrupt from their former glory, personally I wonder if they’ve perhaps had a bad history with squires and recruits in general in recent history and have stopped educating them on important skills because they don’t want to waste resources and education just for the recruit to abandon them the first chance they get. But I would think that Maximus who was found as a child would get at the bare minimum, an education on being able to read, seems like an important skill for a squire to have considering how much knights appear to rely on them.

    It's weird how, in the games, stimpacks are basically a panacea, but in the show, not only are they exceedingly rare, but apparently even a fully functioning vault doesn't use them...

    When you battle Rust Devil or Mechanists robots, you can sometimes loot a fusion core - even from non-sentry bots...

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  5 місяців тому

      I’d forgotten about those, but given that they modify their robots, and fusion cores don’t drop from unmodified robots, we have to assume they are part of their modifications.

      @@IrresoluteCartographer Perhaps the bot the Ghoul ran into had been modified as well. But I agree - I don't recall non-sentry bots dropping fusion cores before the Automatron DLC...

    Fusion Cores get mentioned during the Ms Nanny test in FO4.

      Good point, I missed that. It does still leave the question of why we’ve never been able to loot one

      @@IrresoluteCartographer they probably are destroyed along the Mr. Handy and as far looting them it could be that they’re integrated deep into the Mr. Handy to force customers to have to return the robot to General Atomics for exorbitant repair costs. The Handy Fuel could also just be a ploy to get the consumer to spend more money on a useless addition

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  5 місяців тому +1

      I think the fuel is for the flamethower arm. As for the cores being damaged, maybe, but you’d think every now and then you’d get one. Should be a 10-25% drop rate from the loot table (gone if they self destruct). Along with that, the inability to easily remove the core would be great a great explanation, but it is at least somewhat invalidated by the ease with which the sheriffs remove the core from Snip-Snip.

    Maximus's lack of sex education stuck out to me big time. You'd think an organization that historically has gotten most of its recruits from existing members breeding (to the point where, as Veronica tells us in NV, some people stigmatize homosexuals for not producing offspring) that they'd want to prioritize that. I hadn't considered that maybe they just weren't educating the cannon fodder, but it makes a lot of sense. It could also be tied to the Brotherhood, or at least this chapter, seeming to now be more overtly religious.
    EDIT: I also wonder if maybe education is simply reserved for those born into the BoS, while only outsider recruits like Maximus have to prove themselves first.

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  5 місяців тому +1

      I’m hopeful that they do educate recruits who prove useful, because the alternative is that they recruit outsiders to serve as squires/cannon fodder and only those born into the BoS become knights and are educated. Pretty dark if that’s the case.

    I don't believe she loves her husband. I believe it was a marriage of usefulness for her. Once her career became successful a husband is no longer useful. Or maybe it's just what happens when you try to force a mixed race for theatre because it's 2024 and you picked two people with zero chemistry. Call it what you will but it doesn't fit.

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  5 місяців тому +2

      I do think she loves him, I just think it’s not as much as he loves her. Further, I think she’s ideologically possessed by Vault-Tec’s ideas, and because of that she places far more importance on her career than he does. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that as she’s risen in Vault-Tec and become a “master of the universe” type, her husband has become more of a tool for her than a partner.

      @@IrresoluteCartographerBarb is high up in vault tec (means she is there for long). Janey is about 7 in 2077. Coop was in war late '60s early '70s. He likely didn't enter Hollywood, became an actor, and a super star all in 5yrs. He is "cowboy", but he likely was with "acting and stuff" before went to war (being a "war hero actor" helped his career after too). Meaning, He was with Barb before war started (2066) when she was already rather high up in Vault Tec and pushing up. So hooking up with Coop might be the example of how in our real world "stars and idols" are MADE and MANUFACTURED in entertainment industry by "third parties", only to be used in various ways by their creators i.e. MANAGED. As for Barb cutting short "public hugs", that is about painting a professional picture mostly, one who isn't like that, would never get this high up inside of corporation no matter how long there. Also, as we see in later eps, Barb either answers to or joined the Enclave..
