I think Mark really likes Sons of the Forest, he just can't convince Bob, Sean or Wade to replay it for the 4th time with him. But he can convince us, I'm here for it!
Collabs probably get tiring after a while, so it's understandable if he wants to play some games on his own even if it has multiplayer.
Oh man, I don't even remember the last time Sean played with others on camera, even before his retirement.

Calvin’s bleeding from both ears violently due to the helicopter crash. During the final roll, his hearing protection comes off, and the helicopter explodes following the tumble. Due to you being far enough away it doesnt deafen you. But calvin is too close to the blast, resulting in the rupturing of both eardrums. And his lethargy comes from a concussion mixed with his senses being all disrupted.
That or someone walked up to him and went “WHA-PAH”
I think the latter is the more likely scenario.

I love how cannibalism is just the default in this series. You see an item with a question mark, go to pick it up and oh, look at that, you just ate a human arm.
The developers probably should have tutorialized that a bit.
It's clear from the beginning that you just need to press e to pick something up, no need to long press e

22:49 the fire making everything darker actually makes sense, its about how our eyes react to light, your pupil dilates in the dark to allow the most amount of light in, but in the any bright conditions it contracts so it doesnt let harmfull light into the eye. So when u look at the fire, the pupils constrict for protection, and your surroundings seem darker
I was hoping to find this comment. this game does an amazing job of things like that. like going snow blind in the mountains or coming out of a dark room on a bright day and visa versa. it's the little things. I just recently picked this game up and It's one of my new favorite survival games.
Amazingly enough, it looks brighter from afar when you look from the dark.

As someone who has never seen or played or even heard of Sons Of the Forest before, I've grown to love Kelvin in a matter of 25 minutes. He will be going in my list of comfort charcters
Oh my goodness. I’ve been rewatching the Forest and Sons of the Forest playthroughs with Wade and Bob these past days, and lamented how there weren’t more Sons of the Forest videos. This makes me so happy.

I prefer your solo videos, honestly. It's been like a throwback lately. Of course, it's fun to play games with others, but there's a way that you play games on your own that attracted people to your energy in the first place. It's good to keep in touch with that solo energy regularly.

The crouching guys won’t attack you if you don’t attack them. Just like the girl that runs around in white will befriend you if you are nice to her. She will start bringing you stuff like food and warning you when enemies are near.

I think the sound wave from the accident or the sudden loss of altitude (barotrauma) while having his headphones yeeted off his head led to Kelvin's ear drums bursting. So, his issue is probably a sound or pressure related injury rather than intentional injury by a hostile entity.
could also just be some pretty severe head trauma from them thrashing around in the heli while crashing
That would be a cool thing to see in a game. It also may be overthinking it, but idk I've come up with wacky ideas for simple things in games before, just to find some logical way to describe a developer's random choice to do something.

It is called "Light blindness".
Your eyes were adjusted to the dark. You added a light source. Your eyes adjusted to the new light source. Now you don't see quite as well in the parts where the light doesn't reach.
It's like when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and when you turn on the light, you can barely open your eyes. Then when you shut off the light it looks pitch black again, instead of it being easier to see in the dark like before. It's also said that pirates would wear eyepatches because when they went inside, they'd take their eyepatch off that eye so they could see indoors.

that is SUCH a great timing. we've been playing this game with my friend and we got pretty far in the story (we're on day 50 something as well) and its SO ADDICTIVE we can't stop playing. thankfully we're both pretty serious with it but even playing seriously its very funny despite it being a horror game lmao
Had me for a bit with the whole "We're done, frienship over" thing until I realized "After all the shit you all have been through, there really isn't anything that would destroy your friendship"
The video was pretty good, and I will admit that it is both good and sad that you're playing solo. On one hand we get to see you focus on the story and do hilarious stuff on your own, but on the other hand Bob and Wade certainly add a level of hilarity to the videos. I still think one of my favorite moments from the original Forest was the Gazebo/Log Cabin incident lol

Same lol, always wished they finished the series they started last year together, but I doubt that'll happen. Those videos were hilarious, and a few years ago I spent nearly a week binge-watching the original Forests playthrough from 2021.
i like that mark said that he should find a place where the island inhabitants don't patrol and then decides to set up camp where he sees multiple of them patrolling

Probably the best way to justify having a companion that can only do simple things like 'fetch stuff'. It also doesn't detract from the sense of isolation as much, because you can't talk to him.
I very much enjoy watching the boys play multiplayer games, but I do agree there was a little too much shenanigans going around in the last session x'D

22:50 it got darker because due to the new light introduced into a dark environment, your eyes was adjusted to the dark but now they’re trying to get adjusted to the light as well. It’s like being in a dark room then suddenly stepping outside during the day, and when you go back inside it seems to be darker than before. Amazing detail in this game, this is a true survival game
Finally greatness continues sort of. This is one of my favorite series and i hope Mark is having such a blast playing it as i am watching it.😂

Ive been waiting for the sons of the forest gameplay to come back since it had never been finished with bob and wade, happy its back!
Mark, if you ever need a better base spot so the mutants don't keep destroying it (and so you can get a good night's rest), go to the north-west beach! There's shallow water there that you can build on, and the bad guys cant cross the shoreline, so you can defend from afar. Hope this helps :)

You usually want a much bigger and flatter area but it really depends on how big of a base you want to build
ofc you can do all the caves with nothing more than a tent and a campfire but the building mechanics they added in this game are half the fun

Last year, I was stuck in bed for like 2 weeks recovering from surgery. Was in a lotta pain but I watched the original "The Forest" playlist like +10 times and it helped me feel a LOT better during a time where I otherwise felt pretty miserable.
