If we start using the darkness in 2020, 2 years down the line to Lightfall seems to make sense that we might have to choose between the light or the dark. There is a theory that she's talking to us in the future/different time line on the comms in destiny 1, maybe that's why she didn't have time to explain because time paradoxes/time lines/timetravel takes a lot of explaining

Stasis sounds like the opposite of that a really slow death that u can only stand and take it not only that but if the stasis works the way I think it’s going to work then it’s probably going to be real slow time wise I.e those under stasis perception of time slows kinda like in the new dress movie it has a drug called slo-mo which Made ur brain perceive everything around u seem slower than reality so let’s say u take it then get shot or jump of a building you would basically experience ur death agonizing slow

She doesn’t have a ghost when we met her, so this could be her from a different timeline when she still had her ghost or that thing isn’t even a ghost and just follows her for some reason.
I just had a thought that the hive knew that the darkness was already on the moon. In D1, the hive are mostly on the moon and have created huge dungeons and caves because they were searching for the pyramid the whole time.
John Dolan they’re both icy moons. It’s possible Cayde couldve mistaken the location of the crypt for Enceladus instead of Europa. At least that’s how I think they could retcon it canonically.
My guess is there’s multiple locations for the Deep Stone Crypt. No way would a program as big as the Exo program only have one location for creating Exo’s, and the lore that came with the TTK collectors edition heavily implies Cayde went to Enceladus to become an Exo (it even includes a drawing Cayde did of the planet which specifically depicts Saturn in its view). It’d make sense, since I’d always thought the DSC was always on Enceladus without Byf’s theory anyways.
This is just something I kinda want to happen as a major twist further down the line: the Traveller is revealed as some type of parasite that first entices, then collapses civilizations across the galaxy as it feeds on them in some manner. The Darkness would then revealed as a race that wants to exterminate the Traveller to stop further harm to other civs (maybe out of guilt, because they are somehow the origin of the Traveller).
Here's a hot take: I wish the house of Light was called the house of Dawn, because the Fallen of the house are awakening to a new dawn, one of the Traveller's grace
I didn't get to watch the stream but with this short video you put up I'm definitely more pumped for Destiny than I've been in a long time. Plus the vault was an amazing raid I'm happy to hear I'll be able to do again but now in D2. Great video for those of us not fully informed and I know many of us look forward to more as the season reveals more story content. Also If Eris, the Drifter and the Stranger become seen as a new vanguard of sorts, I can see them being called the Shadowguard. I think it fits them as a counter to the Vanguard.
The raiding community is so small already, they really just need to rework the old gear to the new standard and have it be available and current after it's re-release
Some interesting bits I caught from the stream and from the interview with DrLupo. Luke Smith - “Lightfall will drive us to ummm a moment” Luke Smith - “....we’ll keep working on Destiny 2 unless things go dark” I’m calling it. Full dark classes, all new engine, new everything for Destiny 3 in Fall 2023. Yeah its a long ways away like 3.5 years or so.
I look forward to your video on the DCV and the trade off that we can calculate right now. 'cuz as a Lore focused player, or rather a story player, losing 3 campaigns feels like something the community should be talking about, a lot more, already.
I'd love for them to optimize their space and add back in some of the older locations as well; the Destiny earth and mars locations, as well as a rebuilt tower perhaps
All the reveal did was confirm that I'll stay subscribed to Byf. I love Destiny's story so much but I don't want a game that requires so much spare time it's practically a second job, keeps moving the level cap so I can't have fun experimenting with endgame builds and continuously spits in the face of anyone who just wants to group up/matchmake ingame for an endgame activity without joining a clan, sifting through friend invites and whoring myself on forums and LFG sites when such features should be ingame (Let me put it to you this way: Fallout 76 is going to have built in LFG in its second year of operation after Bungie couldn't figure out how to do it in 6 years).
And Warframe has had such social features pretty much forever. I also agree about the excessive grind. I know I couldn't go back to the game even if I wanted to because it would take me weeks to bring my gear back to level. Imo Destiny should be a fun coop shooter first and an RPG only second and that's not how Bungie has been shaping D2 to be.
Everyone's going on about Savathun, but I'm more worried about facing Xivu. Savathun is smart, very smart, and I'm sure she can convince Xivu to take the first steps into Sol for her. Xivu Arath is a knight-form Hive; I've envisioned her own Ascendant Realm being the battlefield. Her sons and daughters are her heralds, and every death, friend and foe, makes her more and more powerful.
My reaction when seeing that roadmap for the first time: 2020: Oh, ok, this’ll be interesting 2021: Thank god, it’s about time for Savathûn 2022: Oh yeah. That’s the big one.

Was sort of gobsmacked by the ViDoc. I have been disillusioned and somewhat jaded when it comes to destiny, I stopped playing right after completing the shadowkeep campaign, and have only been keeping up with destiny so I can see developments in the story (which I why I have been watching a lot of Byf). This decline in my interest has been going on for a while, but I always come back to destiny for the campaigns every time a new one drops and it always gets my hopes up (though they are often dashed). I wasn’t planning on coming back to destiny until the darkness literally arrived, but having seen this ViDoc I have changed my mind. I will play Beyond Light, and probably Witch Queen, and definitely Lightfall, but I have to say one thing: Bungie, this is your last chance. You have peaked my hopes to such a degree that if you mess this up you will lose me forever. I am very worried that with the very short timeframe that you have set yourselves for two massive scale expansions, that both will be rushed and underwhelming. I am so excited to see them, and that is why I am giving you the benefit of the doubt once again, so please make this the worthwhile culmination of everything we have all been playing for 6 years now.
I am calling this Season and everything up to Lightfall the “Saga of Temptation” The Pyramids are here and has not shown much hostility. It is waiting. Now, it is tempting multiple factions with power (the new public event and Beyond Light). It is acting like the Traveler; granting powers for those that are worthy. It is almost mocking us.

Stasis sounds like the opposite of that a really slow death that u can only stand and take it not only that but if the stasis works the way I think it’s going to work then it’s probably going to be real slow time wise I.e those under stasis perception of time slows kinda like in the new dress movie it has a drug called slo-mo which Made ur brain perceive everything around u seem slower than reality so let’s say u take it then get shot or jump of a building you would basically experience ur death agonizing slow

I just had a thought that the hive knew that the darkness was already on the moon. In D1, the hive are mostly on the moon and have created huge dungeons and caves because they were searching for the pyramid the whole time.

My question after the crypt got announced was “what the F is on Enceladus.

John Dolan they’re both icy moons. It’s possible Cayde couldve mistaken the location of the crypt for Enceladus instead of Europa. At least that’s how I think they could retcon it canonically.

My guess is there’s multiple locations for the Deep Stone Crypt. No way would a program as big as the Exo program only have one location for creating Exo’s, and the lore that came with the TTK collectors edition heavily implies Cayde went to Enceladus to become an Exo (it even includes a drawing Cayde did of the planet which specifically depicts Saturn in its view). It’d make sense, since I’d always thought the DSC was always on Enceladus without Byf’s theory anyways.
Could we begin to see the Fallen become more like the Hive if they start worshipping and performing rituals to the darkness? Would be very cool to see
This is just something I kinda want to happen as a major twist further down the line: the Traveller is revealed as some type of parasite that first entices, then collapses civilizations across the galaxy as it feeds on them in some manner. The Darkness would then revealed as a race that wants to exterminate the Traveller to stop further harm to other civs (maybe out of guilt, because they are somehow the origin of the Traveller).
Here's a hot take: I wish the house of Light was called the house of Dawn, because the Fallen of the house are awakening to a new dawn, one of the Traveller's grace

I didn't get to watch the stream but with this short video you put up I'm definitely more pumped for Destiny than I've been in a long time. Plus the vault was an amazing raid I'm happy to hear I'll be able to do again but now in D2. Great video for those of us not fully informed and I know many of us look forward to more as the season reveals more story content.
Also If Eris, the Drifter and the Stranger become seen as a new vanguard of sorts, I can see them being called the Shadowguard. I think it fits them as a counter to the Vanguard.

All the reveal did was confirm that I'll stay subscribed to Byf. I love Destiny's story so much but I don't want a game that requires so much spare time it's practically a second job, keeps moving the level cap so I can't have fun experimenting with endgame builds and continuously spits in the face of anyone who just wants to group up/matchmake ingame for an endgame activity without joining a clan, sifting through friend invites and whoring myself on forums and LFG sites when such features should be ingame (Let me put it to you this way: Fallout 76 is going to have built in LFG in its second year of operation after Bungie couldn't figure out how to do it in 6 years).

Was sort of gobsmacked by the ViDoc. I have been disillusioned and somewhat jaded when it comes to destiny, I stopped playing right after completing the shadowkeep campaign, and have only been keeping up with destiny so I can see developments in the story (which I why I have been watching a lot of Byf). This decline in my interest has been going on for a while, but I always come back to destiny for the campaigns every time a new one drops and it always gets my hopes up (though they are often dashed). I wasn’t planning on coming back to destiny until the darkness literally arrived, but having seen this ViDoc I have changed my mind. I will play Beyond Light, and probably Witch Queen, and definitely Lightfall, but I have to say one thing: Bungie, this is your last chance. You have peaked my hopes to such a degree that if you mess this up you will lose me forever. I am very worried that with the very short timeframe that you have set yourselves for two massive scale expansions, that both will be rushed and underwhelming. I am so excited to see them, and that is why I am giving you the benefit of the doubt once again, so please make this the worthwhile culmination of everything we have all been playing for 6 years now.
