Saw on Twitter where Taylor Swift fans claiming she’s the first to ever make a 10 minute song and the comments were mostly “Iron Maiden has entered the chat” with a ton of links to this. 13 minutes of brilliance and it flies by.
One thing to keep in mind is that the song was recorded by these guys in 1984 when they were still in their 20s. What you're seeing here is 24 years later when they've all hit their 50s and haven't dropped off one bit. Admirable and probably unprecedented.
This song *The Rime of the Ancient Mariner* is long poem witten in 1798 by English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, about an old bearded mariner who wanders around telling his story of a sailing voyage he took long ago. The story starts with his ship departing on its journey with his crew. When they hit a storm and get stuck in the icy waters of Antarctica, a bird appears which is a good Omen. The mariner recklessly shoots the bird thinking is a sign of no wind, causes the crew to be angry with him. The crew didn't support his crime and made him wear the dead bird, that he should suffer for killing it as it did lead them out of the storm. So the mariner feels guilty and for many years he goes around telling his story over and teaches lessons to those who he comes across, he became sadder but a wiser man. It's a beautiful poem, good lesson/meaning. Thats why this song is long, it's parts of the story. Part from the poem *He prayeth best, who loveth best, All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all* Just thought I would give a little back story ☺Great reaction as always, to me this is like a bunch of friends hanging out and just enjoying great stories and music 💖 Always thumbs up 👍
Love your journey into the Iron Maiden family. Less than a month until IM starts the second leg of their world tour. Youll have your chance to see them live...Get your tickets and Up The Irons 🤘
13:32 In Phoenix, during the 7th Son Tour, the stage decoration truck crashed the evening of the concert. The show was hours late and Bruce came out before the show to explain what happened. They ended up performing the full set with no decorations and my dad said the show was still amazing.
This song is based on an epic poem of the same name by the 18th century British writer Samuel Taylor Coleridge. So it's one of many examples of how Steve Harris has been influenced by literature as a songwriter. To name but a few, he has written songs based on classic novels like "Lord of the flies", "Heart of darkness" and even "Dune" (before it was turned into a movie). "Rime of the ancient mariner" is also an influential song in heavy metal history. In 1984, it was unheard of that a heavy metal band wrote a 13 minute song. But the thing is, when Steve Harris first took up the bass, he didn't start out playing blues and vintage rock like most of his contemporaries: he went straight for progressive rock like Genesis, Jethro Tull and Yes, and for those bands, long songs were normal and even common. So he saw no reason why he couldn't do the same in a heavy metal context. As it turned out, "Rime of the ancient mariner" was an instant fan favorite, and this in turn encouraged other bands to do similar things. 1987 and 1988 saw two more, historically essential pieces from German band Helloween - the undisputed kings of the first generation of Iron Maiden-influenced bands. Those two 13-minute-plus songs were "Halloween" and "Keeper of the seven keys", appearing on the first and second part respectively of Helloween's album duo "Keeper of the seven keys". These two albums would in turn mark the literal starting point of the power metal scene, that continues to live and thrive to this day in Europe especially. Other bands to quickly follow in Iron Maiden's footsteps and create supersized classic tracks of their own included US future legends Queensrÿche and Manowar - not to mention modern day European titans such as Nightwish and Avantasia.
I leave the original link in the description to watch without my commentary try watching those vocal coache reactors they pause every 30 sec and I'm doing it 4 free 🤣 i bet all your favorite reactors have a patreons 🤣😉
Nicko suffered a mild stroke early this year, but he is taking treatment and physical therapy so he can play drums. Nicko talks about his health on UA-cam
Steve Harris is the founder and main songwriter (solely or cooperatively), not just "wrote some of the songs" 😜 And man, this isn't just shitty, stupid, superficial, and unjust "one man show" (the singer usually) thing 😂😂, and that's another great characteristic of them

If you have never listened to it, check out the Santiago 2009 version. It’s arguably even better.

I might get slammed by her fans, but besides Iron Maiden, there are more bands with 10+ minutes songs such as Rush and Nightwish.
@@MrTech226 And they sound better than Taylor Swift!
Taylor Swift is just the current icon. From Monroe to Madonna, its all the same. The media descides what it shows us.
