I had no idea these trucks had cabin air filters. I am virtually getting no air through my vents. It's been down to - 4゚ and I'm freezing my butt off in my truck. I'll definitely be checking that out in the morning. Thank you so much. I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado and I hope that's the problem.
Awesome, in today's climate I've got to watch my wallet and I'm sure Chevrolet would have charged me a semesters tuition. I appreciate anyone that will take the time to share their knowledge. Thanks again, thumbs up.
Good video, small correction, 5.5 mm socket on filter cover as opposed to 6mm. Gm uses 7mm and 5.5 mm extensively through those years, great info to many thank you
Omg!! Thank you soo much!! You just saved me $1500 quote on a repair!!! This is a very hot summer! I would rather go on a vacation with that money🤗👍👍 subcribed!!!
Thanks for the video! It was great, just by pointing the most likely culprit of the weak air flow. Start here, THEN continue with diagnosis. Great logic. Sometimes the most obvious is often overlooked ( as in my case) . 👍👍👍 Subbed
Thank you so darn much for this! I'm going to try this on my 1998 Plymouth Breeze. It blows cold especially after I recharge the AC but the air is only coming from the top dashboard then under the windshield and the small Corner vents but none of the front facing center dashboard vents:-( I hope that I can tear this down and do the same fix :-) thank you so much for the help because I already replaced the AC relays and nothing happened $60 down the drain or at least now I have new relays anyway
If your still dealing with smells, rent or purchase a ozone machine and run it in the cabin for awhile. That should easily rid any stank. I rented one at the local rent-all.
My parents 2002 Chevy Venture has the same issue. I replaced the blower motor and the cabin air filters. No air coming from any of the front vents... defrost, dash or floor. The back A/C is blowing OK... and much colder to to new cabin air filters. Trying to research why no air flow from front system.
Yeah got the same problem . It cooling but very weak air coming in from vents . The air filter may be culprit . I'm goona need tio check it out in veerrryyy HOT San Antonio . What happens if I don't replace it right away ? No problems ? It'll still blow cool air ?
The ones in my Silverado were worse than that years ago when I first got it. I was nearly pinned to my seat when I turned the fan on high after I replaced the filters. lol
Guys what does it mean when my air functions don’t work? For example, I put the heat so that it blows to my feet but it blows to my head. What’s that called so I can fix it? Thanks!
In the words of Will Farrell in Land of The Lost: " Gross!" Iwill be doing exactly this on both of my cars shortly. Thanks for the inspiration. Now where's that cabin filter on my Camaro? 😁
First thing I did on my daughters equinox when we got it was to change the cabin air filter! Not as bad ,but still pretty nasty. Same thing though, a p.o. had a dog and ohh boy that smell! 😣
I'm having to find a way to clear a prior rodent infestation and the more I look at these systems, the more I wonder what they were thinking when they made them. They could've made them so much easier to clean out and get inside of. I remember working on our up armoreds in the military and they were so simple. lots of straight lines, big holes to reach into or suck out. Imagine if they designed these vehicles for simplicity. They'd last forever. Which is of course why they don't.
I've heard that the Cabin Filter came in 1997, my Car is a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2 Doors Coupe 2.4L and it doesn't use any Cabin Filter, here is the problem, when I turn the AC on the middle Vents of the Car blows cold air ok it works just fine but the single ones on the sides like the Driver side and the Passenger side it blows almost nothing even though it's on the Max position, any ideas what could cause that because I have no knowledge about this problem if the car doesn't use Cabin Filter?😮😢
I can’t speak from experience because I’ve never owned a Grand Am, but maybe there’s an obstruction or maybe a blend door is stuck or an actuator is bad.
@@TheDaninator Thanks for the Tip, I'll look to that, another thing I've noticed is that every time I turn the AC on at first some particles of dust comes out of the only vents working which are the ones on the middle as I told you and as soon as it's happening I try not to breathe that
What if ac comes on and has good air flow but then air stops and sounds like it is coming out on passenger side on bottom but no air is coming out. Sometimes i can turn ac on and it want come out for days but when i take my gmc 2012 Sierra truck in to shop the ac works but when i leave it will shortly go off and not work but it sounds like it is blowing out the bottom but it is not coming out of any vents even when you turn the knob that makes air come out of other vents. This all starting happening one day going down the highway and heard a loud noise on bottom passenger side and air turned hot and door started flapping.
The fan itself may be wearing out, or perhaps the actuator motors inside the dash are wearing out (common issue) and are not opening the damper doors or closing them all the way to direct all of the air to the appropriate vents.
There are 2 of them? I need to check and see if mine has a 2nd one if so then I need to change it haha. I only pulled one out when I did mine about a year ago
I replaced the fuse I replaced the blower motor resistor and the blower motor and the airflow was smooth it was high but now active replacing all that the air flow is low especially when I put my foot on the gas or when it's idling. I have to keep playing with the AC switches and fan switches constantly. Even though the air flow is low it's still blowing out cold air but I just don't understand why is it doing that.
As the car Eco sport is started , the ac comes out of the vents. later as the car engine runs for sometime, the air runs inside only, it doesn't come out off the vents. What should i do?
I figured this is what would be wrong with mine but it didn’t help. But also when I went to replace them I seen there wasn’t even any in mine. Could that of messed something up?
Mine does the same thing but I replaced the cabin air filters still doesn’t blow hardly anything boy blows out defrost and bottom floor doesn’t blow through the vents barely out all, would there be a blend or actuator in the dash that controls that?
Just for the record. You might check to see if someone plugged the wires on the fan backwards. It will blow air but the fan turns backwards. Been there done that🤔. 🤬
There are flaps/doors that are opened and shut with actuators to direct air flow in the ducts. Possibly the actuators are bad and are restricting air flow.
My Chevy is doing the same thing but I have a 2001 Cavalier and that makes a lot of sense but I couldn't find the cabin air filter for my car I looked in the glove box and it's not there There's not even a place for it.
Well even if I changed them both, I get great air flow when the filters are out but when I put the new ones it's very minimal air flow. I'm not sure why to be honest
Could be the fan speed regulator, or perhaps the actuators for the ducting are not working properly or maybe there’s a blockage from a critter... hard to say
LOLOLOLOLOL ... something I would have done. My 2021 Ram 1500 had no air flow and I checked the filter and it was soaking wet. ALWAYs check the filter if your air is not right. Now I need to find out why my filter was wet ... car wash 2 days ago and rain rain today.

Mouse poop can have viruses in it even if it’s dry . I sprayed Lysol up inside there after I Change the filter thanks for the video

Ok that's a 2002, I have a 2006 gmc sierra, does not have a cabin air filter. So how to fix the air ventilation ?
Check to make sure the blower motor is good then check blend door actuators. GM is notorious for those going bad.
