Fiji is currently locked down....More than 11000 active cases and approx 1000 cases per day. Approx 80 deaths so far.... Health care is struggling to cope as are families who have no source of income. PRAY for Fiji. I was born there and have lived in Fremont, California for the last 30 yrs, but part of my heart remains there always. Enjoy your videos!
I can't help but think of all the Fijian people struggling with the Covid outbreak on the islands while watching this video from better times. It's so sad to think that after having no cases they are now dealing with and fighting Covid. I truly hope they are able to make it through this difficult time.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful time you had. Reminds me of when I was a kid in sailing class. We had several times like this and I'll cherish them forever.
What a great time. Loved the Hobie race and the big Regatta. Hobie cats are a blast. I just recently sold both my Hobie 16 and Hobie Getaway catamarans to turn around and purchase a monohull with a small cabin. Hope I don't regret that move, but it's to get me a little closer to my coastal cruising goals. You all are making Fiji looks pretty awesome and my wife keeps talking about it.
Watching these videos I badly want to go to Fiji! It seems like the Fijians have life totally sorted prioritising family and community and welcoming visitors in a way that seems so beautiful and beneficial to everyone.
I really admire the whole programme that thechildrengotinvolved n theytookpartintheraces ncreated castle nbuiltavillage with farms indicating they learnt community lifestyle of the fijiansthey hvvisitednexperienced in their island to island sailing visitations.amaising!.im impressed by the parents n the fijians hospitalities accorded.nthanks 4all the gifts provided,as a fijian I say, vinaka vakalevu.n enjoy yr stay.
I can't describe how happy I am that you are able to give your family this life to experience and I'm grateful to see it as well! The rug of war was great along with the Hobie cat races!!
It’s interesting how small the cruising world seems to be - the You Tube cruisers I follow seem to frequently interact: the family of SV Torea meets the family of SV Archer, Archer meets up with SV Zatara, and Zatara goes off with The Cruising Kiwis.
Congrats on making a strong comeback!! As the old saying goes, "You can't change the wind, BUT you can adjust the sails". Seriously, Fiji is now on our bucket list thanks to Archer and crew. (The department of tourism should pay you!!). Smooth sailing from Long Island, NY
Pull up your windward dagger board to reduce drag and you would have finished second instead of third ! Watch videos of gunboat regatta the boat named Elvis ! Downwind pull up both boards ! Thanks for sharing !
I’m pretty sure we had it up downwind. When did you see it down?! When the red sails are out we are downwind. Otherwise we usually have the leeward board down (unless it’s a quick tack around a mark or reef).
It sounds like you fell in love with Fijian hospitality too. The Fijians would have to be the most engaging of tourists, and just all-round good people, that I've ever met.
It can be. Knowing the rules is important. Tactics and Strategy are more important than sail trim. Sometimes a little luck goes a long way. But remembering to have fun is the hardest part when your competitive side comes out (I'm still working on that last one)! ~Seth
If you look at the video closely you will see that our leeward board is always down when going up wind (white headsail out). But when going downwind they are both raised (red headsail out): look again!
Actually, that episode was meant to be a whole lot longer but I lost ALL my drone footage, on board footage and GoPro footage! I managed to pull that off using Ronnie’s official event footage and my iPhone clips, but sadly I lost the rest. What a bummer!!! -Seth
Sad to say Fiji did not keep covid out. Total cases 19,350, deaths 125, daily cases 750 to 1000 per day. For reference Fiji has a population of approximately 1,000,000
@@TheSailingFamily yeah I’m in NZ so we are still hanging in there, but could change quickly, all it takes is one slip. Hopefully Queensland manages to keep it out and you guys get to continue the journey 👍
I enjoy your videos, and I think that you're great enjoyable people to watch. I just wish that your wife would embrace the whole aspect of youtube and being a part of the story more. I don't think you should push her to do it, but I think that her input and perspective would greatly add to the minutia of your story. She seems really great, and I think her contribution would be greatly appreciated.
That boat Roxanne was a speed demon. Built in Lake Tahoe, of all places, she was a replica of a Santa Cruz design. Very narrow and a deep keel. She tracked up wind like nothing else in the race. ~Seth

Seth gets sooooooo excited when family racing, it’s very contagious. Love it. Gosh how I love your videos!
This was absolutely the best video you have ever done. It included the kids showing their adventurous side. This was a whole family affair. Great job.
Thanks The best video so far. The kids enjoying and family supporting. What else would you need more during this pandemic. Good Job Mate...

The kids are all cool, but the Mohawk boy is the coolest. Great adventure and video! So much fun.

What a great family event. The Archer crew are competitive I think!!
Nah. What gave you that idea? We just want to win. :)

Fun times. Memories for a lifetime. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us here at home. 👍😎👍💕
Awesome, nothing like racing where fun is the priority. Considering all that's going on it must have been good medicine for all 🏴☠️
50th anniversary was way back last October!

Great video, Seth
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching! ~S
Top 3 best episode!
Thanks! Thats a nice comment! Appreciate it! ~Seth
What, no handicaps applied for the different boat classes! Surely Archer wins on adjusted time!!
Yeah, it wasn't quite fair for liveaboards to be racing race boats, but to beat a few sure was fun! :) 🤩
Awesome! Looks like fun was had by all! Keep safe on the blue!!
Thanks! Will do! ~S
Just makes me happy to see those kids having fun with their parents , 2nd i gota visit FIJI :)
I love your UA-cam

Missed u. Great u 5 are back. Take Care
Thanks for watching - again! ~Seth
Vinaka team Archer!! Amazing video!!
Glad you liked it!!
Great stuff guys!
Thanks man! ~S
Wonderful to see.
Not quite the only Regatta in 2020. America's Cup played out too 😊
That was in March of 2021, right?!
Sorry, thought you were in 2021. My bad. Great Regatta and close finish for you guys. Your cat surprisingly competitive in such light winds 😁👍
More amazing memories for your kids
Get that hobie cat or a C scow! You can floss across the water and makes for fun walk overs and learning
Sailboat racing is serious business, even when you're having fun. Right Seth?

Thanks for another weekly dose...
Our pleasure!
Fun fun
Quite Wholesome
What a.blast! Say, what is the deal with the dagger boards? I dont’ think I’ve ever seen them deployed, but could easily be missing it.
If you look at the video closely you will see that our leeward board is always down when going up wind (white headsail out). But when going downwind they are both raised (red headsail out): look again!
@@TheSailingFamily ha that’s awesome. Now I know. That boat is awesome
⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵ X 5
Amazing!
Fifth place is way better than last! Looked like a lot of fun. Question, do they offer a spit/ saliva test for cv or only invasive?
That was a short episode ,are we getting another CLIP?
Actually, that episode was meant to be a whole lot longer but I lost ALL my drone footage, on board footage and GoPro footage! I managed to pull that off using Ronnie’s official event footage and my iPhone clips, but sadly I lost the rest. What a bummer!!! -Seth

Yes, this Delta variant has changed everything. So sad.
how was the weather there?
Great video. So sad to see what’s happening in Fiji at the moment, the pandemic is hitting them hard. They did so well for so long😢
Yes, this Delta variant is awful. Same here in Australia!
@@TheSailingFamily yeah I’m in NZ so we are still hanging in there, but could change quickly, all it takes is one slip. Hopefully Queensland manages to keep it out and you guys get to continue the journey 👍
we tried to race our monohaul didnt go so well lost 3out of 3 races so i made a meam about it

Monohulls ftw!

Oh dear, how it has all changed this year, 2021...hundreds dayly being infected..
So is this from 2020 or 2021?
2020
Worth the absence of a washing machine weight with 4 dirty boys? Only mom can say!
Nice video! 👍
