  • Kubota BX snow blowing driveways after blizzard video shows the Kubota BX working with the rear mounted (Kubota 2789) snow blower. The snow ranged from a few inches to 2 feet deep. I made the video after the blizzard. Here's another video of the BX clearing the central area (36 inches snow) here: • Kubota BX clearing up ...

    Hi Bob . I am planning to buy a Kubota BX2380 17.7HP PTO with a K51-20-06 20 inch impeller 24.5 inch high50.5'' wide or K54-22-06 22'' impeller and 25.25inch high 53.5'' wide. What are your recommendation with your blowing expérience with kubota product. ?

      My BX has about the same HP at the pto and I have been using the Kubota B2789 rear snow blower for the last 10 years. My UA-cam videos tell the story best in terms of how this combo performs. But I am very pleased with the performance overall. The deflector linear actuator (electric) failed a few years ago but that happened when I jammed the snow blower into a 6 foot high hard snow bank. I have since replaced that actuator and have described that in another video. When the snow is 2+ feet high I sometimes lubricate the snow blower chute to give that little bit of extra go, but most of the time I just go at it. I could go on with the operation of the snow blower but perhaps the best advice is to make sure you have the engine rpm high for all snow clearing jobs. This will not only get rid of the snow faster but it will prevent chute jams and reduce or even prevent shear pin breaks (in most all situations).

      Everything on a tractor happens behind you. Cutting hay, raking, baling, snow blade. You need eyes in your right shoulder. or a GIGANTIC mirror. The only thing I dont have to look behind me to use is my wood chipper - because you use that dismounted and with the tractor sitting still...

    I said this on another video I watched. It puzzles me why people blow the snow so high in the air that it comes back on them and the areas they just cleared. I keep my chute lower so the snow blows straight across. It stops the snow from coming back on you most of the time. If there were really high snow banks, then yes, I would blow higher but with low banks it seems unnecessary.

    Plow should always be in front of the driving wheels to be more effective.

    I have a 1025 JD with 54inch rear mount blower. Works great but looking back is a pain. I found that turf tires have better traction. They are softer and have more ground contact? I use the loader bucket to break up the roadside plow ridge which is often pretty packed. Bucket also great for removing banks to reduce drifting in. We get lots of snow here in NS Can.

      sgtcrab1 I have turf tires on mine as well and rarely slip. I go with a rear mounted Kabota 54 inch blower as well and it crews up snow like crazy.

    I'm wondering if anyone has any advice about clearing snow on a slight slope.
    I have to remove snow from hoop houses and have a rear-mounted blower and bucket on a 30 horse Kubota. It gets around fine on level ground, but when I try to take a pass on the side of one of the houses, with either the bucket or blower, the tractor wants to veer off down the slope (less than 30 degrees) and the slope then increases as the outside wheel sinks a little more with each pass.
    Any thoughts would help.
    Thanks,
    Greg

      So I'm assuming the tractor wheels are sliding somewhat sideways? Have you considered chains to help?

    • @gregcarbone2895
      @gregcarbone2895 7 років тому

      Since I have never gotten stuck, I was hoping to avoid the expense, hassle, and damage to the land that chains would involve. But if you think that's the only solution and that a different technique won't be sufficient, I guess I'll have to consider it.

      Yes I saw your comment and about then I realized the video had a technical (uploading) error that originated on this end. I had to remove it twice before I got it right. The video itself stayed the same from here but not on it's arrival at UA-cam.

    I can't really justify the purchase of the snow blower... A back blade is so much more useful and faster to clean up a driveway, and it can be used for other than snow purposes.

      Bob Kelland regardless of running chains or not, this is still a pretty impressive video
      some of the mountain passes out west, during a winter storm, highway patrol will implement a chains only law for truckers.....and it is hard not to become overconfident with chains on, especially while driving on ice, because the amount of traction you gain is incredible.
      I bought a set for my Troy-Bilt Bronco and tried plowing w/o them, in about 1/10 of what you were hammering through, and didn't make it 3'....put chains on and never stopped once
      anyways, take care

    • @BobKelland
      @BobKelland  7 років тому +1

      Thanks Wesley - Something I didn't mention re this video is that the ice/hard snow build-up on the paved driveway is really my fault in that I just didn't bother to scrape up thin layers of snow that fell (before the storm) and had a chance to melt and harden. So with a bit of extra attention I would not have had the wheels spinning as much as you see in this video. Here's another one of my videos where I'm snow blowing almost as much snow but because of the "dry" pavement there is much less wheel spinning. ua-cam.com/video/SlNMOTilUEg/v-deo.html
