I bought my first Cub Cadet because my father-in-law had one with 3600 hours on it but that was back when International made Cub Cadets. I did not have as much luck as mine was made after the franchise was sold to a lesser company. I now own a Kubota and have run it hard for eight years and all I've done to it is keep the oil and other fluids changed. Not a single problem in Eight Years!
Cub Cadet was sold to MTD I think in the mid to late 90's, its all been downhill since then for the Cub Cadet name sadly. I do own a Cub Cadet lawn tractor but no way is it even close to those old IH Cub Cadets from the 80's and back.
I've never seen Cub that seemed worth the fuel in the tank...I wonder where they ever got a reputation for quality because it certainly isn't being earned now.

HUGE difference. the cub cadet name actually exists because the very first model, the 1961 original cub cadet..... and the gear drive models that came after used the same transmission as the farmall cub. IH overbuilt things, i have had several IH built cub cadets. they are old but still work well if you take the time to put into them. they are tough as nails. nothing good comes from crap cadet (mtd cub cadet)

Why do you like the 2680 more than the 2380? Just the slight gain in power? They're otherwise the same correct? I'm looking at purchasing the BX2680 in the next 6-8 months for the slight PTO Horsepower Gain and slight engine horsepower advantage, although not much, but when given the choice I'll get the largest engine in a piece of equipment that I can.
Hi Bill, congratulations in advance. Whereas the numbers are indeed minimal, to me the torque is very noticeable in the stable engine speed when load applied. Only way one could tell is to have hours experience on one, then work with the other. In addition I really like the throaty sound of the 2680 compared. Means nothing to most, but I like it and the additional stability and torque it offers. I think you will love it too.
He seems to be doing a great job on his gravel drive. From an ecological point of view you don’t have to worry about the extra runoff you get with that much impermeable surface of a paved driveway. Also, in a rustic setting like this, a long strip of asphalt isn’t always the most attractive solution.
The BX2680 is the current model, with a larger engine, and a few creature comfort updates like a better seat...everything else is pretty much the same. I'm looking at the BX2680 here in the next 6-8 months for purchase. Can't find anything used and the couple used machines I found within a comfortable driving distance were really close to new price so why bother used when I can get a new machine that I know how its been cared for and the warranty to go with it, not that you really need a warranty with a Kubota but the piece of mind is always there with a new machine, over something you have no idea how it was maintained.
Hi David, the blower is driven by a shaft connected to the mid PTO. The Auger is Hydraulic and the deflector is electric which has a button on the stick. I believe they still use a belt for the blower inside. I will post a better video with controls and side shots when we get our next storm. Thanks for watching.
@@mainedroneimaging6787 I have the same blower with a rear grader blade for ballast and clean up but on the B7610 and have a much steep er driveway and have never needed chains and just air in the wheels. My neighbor has a crazy steep drive and uses the chains on his BX with great success.

NEVER! With a plow and that amount of snow all you end up with is ridges that freeze and you can’t move them and the ridges create drifts that hold even more snow. I’ll take a solid blower any day!!
4:40 light and fluffy snow, but operator was running a full auger so he was running the capacity of the machine, but still I had to run the vid at double speed 'cause operator was running me NUTS. Too slow and boring.
That's ok don't buy a Kubota. Buy a green tractor and wish you had bought a Kubota....its a really simple solution. Buy a different brand, or don't buy a tractor at all, and only wish what you could be doing. I'm not a fan of any color, I buy based upon long term customer reviews and the number of old machines you see running around of the size and type you are looking to buy. Haven't seen any green ones running around in the sub-compact or compact range only Kubotas and many of them are 10+ years old, some are 20-30 years old and still being worked all the time. The only green tractors I see around are the large farm/ag type tractors. Its really more of a what dealership is going to treat you right type thing. Most likely if my local Green dealer wouldn't have been stuck up assholes I may have bought a green tractor...but due to their attitudes I'll never buy green, plus the additional $5k for green paint is ridiculous. I'm going with a BX2680, loader with skid steer coupler, pallet forks, 60" mid mount mower, roto-tiller, box blade, front snow blower, and front blade. My neighbor had 2 Kubotas the first I think was a B series, then he got an L series as his needs grew. He sold his B series to a local rental company for the same amount of money he paid for it 5 years prior. They hold their value pretty well.

They have the power, its the weight that limits them due to loss of traction it seems like.

This kubota is a nice machine, smooth, much better quality than the cub cadet video i just watched.

If that is not a paved driveway you should raise the blower a bit until you get a snow base to eliminate picking up rocks.

My Gr2120 has a chain drive for the impeller with the direct drive.
You don't have any chains on those turfs, right?

Yes. The Kubota BX2680 uses the Kubota D1005 diesel engine. Great engines, they'll outlive you if you take care of them properly.

How is the blower itself driven? Belt, hydrologic, PTO?
David Mm Its shaft driven.
Its driven off the mid-pto to a quick 4 point front hitch and from there its belt or gear drive depending on which model blower you get.
