@zacobyz4431: I always thought Lucius if he had one would be something very haughty and proud, certainly before he became a wreck near the end not only from his stint in azkaban but from his fear of Voldemort. Umbridge would have learnt the difficult spell so she could have one upmanship over her peers, and hers was a Persian Cat, whom are quite a docile breed of cat but are high maintenance due to having long fur. I think if Bellatrix were capable of conjuring one, it would be some kind of Insect or reptile that had sadistic tendancies. Something that tortures first before they kill. PS. @torcheditz: They don't, McGonagall's Patronus is a Silver Moggy Shorthaired Tabby Cat, like her Animagus Form. Umbridge's is a Persian Cat. They are both Cats but different breeds and different personalities. Not all Cat breeds have the same personalities, they are all different.
I think Voldemort's theoretical patronus would be some kind of parasitoid wasp. They are solitary manipulative creatures who perpetuate themselves in a rather horrific manner which involve putting a part of themselves in another living thing.
I think that the process of creating a Patronus without very happy, joyous thoughts would be impossible. Voldy would create another kind of guardian. He has lots of creatures who are his servants. I doubt that his hate-based psyche could stomach a Patronus.
Albus Dumbledore in the Deathly Hollows: Part II movie also didn't get a proper shape as it was shown as a green spherical boom. In fairness though, the fact that green was projected would certainly be illustrated of his skill with Petronas Charm. One could imagine at that moment (spoiler) that he was thinking of him & his son reuniting after Grindlevalds' loss at the end of Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore.
I can pick one hole in your logic. Harry's pertrones is a stage because all of his close families one's are also deer. His dad's was a stag and his mums was a doe.
I have a theory as to Why this spell is so hard to cast. Most people live in relative comfort. They don’t feel the extremes of their emotions. Harry has felt loss and loneliness all of his life. For the majority of his life he’s been in the “sadness spectrum” really no hope to be happy. Then when happiness was let into his life there was such a paradigm switch that his happiness was felt more so then if he didn’t feel that sadness before hand. So his happy thoughts meant more to him. Therefore his patronus was more powerful.
I feel like it's more to do with when they learn it. The older you are the more memories you have and the less an individual means. When you're young each happy memory means a lot more and has a lot more depth. It's simply a matter of needing less fuel.
My theory is since the spell is essentially someone's positive emotions taken shape into their spirit animal, it would be complicated for certain people, especially those who had lives where they were just content or worse off emotionally. If someone lived a better life they would have much more to pull from and thus the spell would be stronger. For example, Luna was the last person in the group to cast it.

@@JamesDavy2009 , I’ve wondered about the curse too. The movies give the impression that spells end with the caster’s death, but obviously spells, for example, of the Hogwarts founders and spells applied to artworks last endlessly in both the books and the movies.

Luna's patronus was a rabbit because when her mother was young, she bred rabbits and this was a way for Luna to remember her, her memory was her eighth birthday when her mother was still alive
Yes, when I first got my patronus on Pottermore it was an occamy that snake/bird type creature in the first Fantastic Beasts. I never quite understood the meaning of getting that one. Plus, as you stated in this video, having a patronus that was a magical creature is rare. ?
Ok, now I’m honestly curious why voldemort wouldn’t tell death eaters to cast a potronus spell if he was suspicious of them. Not like it was hard to find a wand even if it shattered. What I’m saying is it’s the ultimate test as either your wand explodes or you cast the spell and you can’t do anything about it.

I once did the Patronus test and it came up a greyhound but I can't remember what it was but I know that most dogs are the loyal kind of characters. I love greyhounds

Rowlings said that after Fred’s death, George could no longer form a patronus. As she said, 1 for sadness , 2 for joy. As for Neville, his core memory would probably be his parents. He still visits them. Keeps every wrapper they give him like a treasure. Sadness mixed with happiness is probably why he can’t form a corporeal patronus. If he could form a patronus , it would probably be something that displays loyalty, devotion, and protection. Protection is where he falls short. He thinks he’s weak/cannot protect as well as he sjould. He overcomes that feeling he’ll have a powerful patronus.
Isn’t it that only those who are thinking of a moment of great joy can produce a patronus and not only those with a pure heart? While Umbridge was evil she clearly had moments of great joy whenever she was exercising her power and relishing in her authority. Maybe it’s not that Raczidian’s patronus failed because he wasn’t fighting a dark force-he was fighting a good wizard and he was enraged in the moment so he wasn’t thinking of something joyful. Maybe that instead of not being of a pure heart is why his backfired? Maybe it’s more so that you can’t use one against non-malevolent beings?
JKR should’ve made Corporeal Patronus’ able to block the forbidden curses. It seems like it’d be hard to accomplish and not broken. Imagine the patronus dying; it was be so sad. Wizards would run into battle with their spirit animal. PETA would never let that happen actually. I just think that something like a mammoth patronus should be able to block a killing curse at least once.
Video idea for you to do: What additional effects do spells have that are not seen in the movies? For instance, what else can the patronus charm do besides ward off dementors?
Tbh, I took the online quiz for finding out my Patronus and I got a stag; like both James and Harry Potter. Idk the significance of it before this video, ngl.
- so its only if you are evil and revel in that darkness that you can't make one? If you think you are actually righteous in your acts, even if they are evil it will work like with Umbridge?
Mine personally is a Nebelung Cat (though I'm not sure what that would mean specifically). I find myself wondering, what would it mean if a witch or wizard had an amoeba for a patronus?
9:25 MYTH. Nowhere in the books does it say that James' patronus was a stag, ONLY that it was his animagus form. You can theorize it if you want, but his patronus form is never stated in the books, so we don't know. People keep repeating this for some reason.
@@HarryPotterTheory I've heard that argument before, but the only example of a known animagus with a matching known patronus is McGonagall, who was/cast a cat in both cases. One example does not make a pattern. There's also Lupin, but he was a werewolf rather than a wolf animagus, so that's really a different story.
Seemed like many (most?) of Dumbledore's army succeeded .. 🤔. Not sure Seamus' difficulty is enough to justify the claim of difficulty. Oddly, for a spell that requires a happy anchor, it seems hardship might be a stronger driver. Perhaps necessary to amplify or contrast the happy thought. Apparition was also stated to be difficult, yet it seemed that most were capable of it. At least of those we know.

@@jane1975 oh how cool! :D
Snape’s patronus is so tragic 😭
"After all this time?"
@@HarryPotterTheory “Always…”
@@kaitacon4776 😭😭😭
IMO, Snape is the greatest tragic hero of the XXI century. Look at the features of the heroes of the classical Greek tragedies.
@@christal2641 He is definitely the Anti- Hero of the stories.
Casting a patrons charm is not easy it is just Harry was a great teacher
I think Lupin would have had great success teaching more students as well.
If Harry wasn't going to be an auror, he'd be a good professor at Hogwarts. That makes me wonder if the jinx on the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher job would still be in effect after the defeat of Lord Voldemort.
@@JamesDavy2009 , I’ve wondered about the curse too. The movies give the impression that spells end with the caster’s death, but obviously spells, for example, of the Hogwarts founders and spells applied to artworks last endlessly in both the books and the movies.
@@JamesDavy2009 @J.E. B. The wiki confirms that the curse ended and that a consistent teacher took over the post. Seemingly no one we already knew, though. I remember reading that they were most likely female, but it wasn't certain, and now I can't even find that line anymore.
Incidentally, Harry does drop by on rare occasion to teach a DADA lesson or two at Hogwarts, before going back to his job. I like to think he does the Boggart lesson, carrying on the legacy from Dumbledore and Lupin, but it doesn't specify.
I have a question. Will you someday do a Percy Jackson channel? There’s a lot of things to talk about, I think.
You're right, there should be UA-cam channels dedicated solely to Percy Jackson and the Riordanverse. But is HPT a Riordanverse fan? Morgan Ross has plenty of Percy Jackson videos on his MovieFlame channel but he only started reading the Riordanverse books when his fans asked him to make Percy Jackson videos.
Luna's patronus was a rabbit because when her mother was young, she bred rabbits and this was a way for Luna to remember her, her memory was her eighth birthday when her mother was still alive
Shacklebolt has a spell that causes time to stop for the person afflicted and sends them backwards.
My Patronus would be a donkey. That way whenever I'm finished with it I can say "that'll do donkey. That'll do"😂
According to the quizzes, I’m a Hufflepuff, and my Patronus is a phoenix. So I guess I’m pretty rare 😅
I read somewhere that Albus Dumbledore had the same patronus as Gellert Grindelwald because he was so in love with him.
Who gellert?
@shannonrenee5449: I don't think Grindelwald could produce one, Dumbledores Patronus was a Phoenix.
I took the test and my patronus is a field mouse, and my wand is a holly wand with a dragon core. Im also a Hufflepuff.
In Hogwarts mystery my patronuz is a unicorn
According to some quiz, my patronus is evidently a dragon, and then a different quiz says my patronus is a kitten... So my patronus is a kitten riding a dragon.
If Voldemort saw my patronus, he would enter a state of permanent catatonia.
you mist two that I thought you would of brought up 1 what is Voldemort's / tom Ridle and 2 Merlin
“Cho Chang’s Patronus charm too the form of a swan, symbolizing the caster being loyal, and being beautiful inside and out.” Truth.😏
Isn't she the one who sells out all of the DA to Umbreg?
@@kekenaniwilson6138 Yeah, but she was drugged into doing so.
@@kekenaniwilson6138 no, it was her friend Marietta, if you remember Hermione puts a charm that causes boils to spell out 'SNEAK' on the persons face if they talk about the DA to Umbridge
@@derivativename1359 In the movie its Cho, and Hermione doesn't hex her. But she was drugged into doing it, so that doesn't really count as being disloyal. Swan's mate for life, very elegant but they are very powerful and strong and their wing span would crush you.
Hey HPT! Amazing channel, as the kids say I’m a whore for lore so your videos are like crack to me. My boyfriend is a historian and we discuss the potter verse the same way we discuss ancient Greeks, so this is right up our street.
I have a Q, have you considered putting together sleepy playlists? I find your voice super soothing so decided to pop on a playlist I’ve already watched, left it running, and I slept for 12 straight hours. I have CPTSD, adhd and insomnia to boot so this is unheard of for me. I woke up more well rested than I have in years and your soft lovely voice was still going on my phone when I woke up. That’s views on views on views bro, slap together a bunch of videos you’ve already done into a long ass video and call it a day. I’m happy to keep using the playlists but thought I’d mention it.
Love this channel so much! My only note is moar!!
According to pottermore, my patronus is a thestral. Pretty cool, I thought! I have no idea what it means, but hey, cool anyway. I swear I thought the hedgehog thing he was gonna say, "those with a hedgehog patronus are particularly fast."
I once did the Patronus test and it came up a greyhound but I can't remember what it was but I know that most dogs are the loyal kind of characters. I love greyhounds
I got the Irish greyhound what i like about my patronus is that ,it really suits my house(Hufflepuff) and my wand which is an Ash wood with a unicorn hair which are all showing loyalty
I would like to hear evert kind. I think I have a Pheasant Patronus
I received JKR' Patronus ,the Heron Patronus! Would definitely like to know about that one considering it's what the Author recieved
My patronus would be a a floating bottle of patron. It would get my enemies too drunk to fight me.
Ernie Macmillan was Hufflepuff 10:57
' I, thee Neville,
of house of Bottoms Long,
Have gone without a proper Protronus,
For far, far, too long.
Practice as I may,
Practice as I might,
Hopefully one blasted day,
I'll actually get this spell right..
If I were to succeed,
My Protronus will be an ode,
At least I hope it will be,
Ole' Trevor, that fat old toad. '
- Neville Longbottom.
Funny thing is, is that Jack Russell's are rat killers lol
Can someone just tell me what a dragon Patronus means that's what I got on the Wizarding World test
A dark version of the patronus spell would be interesting. When I had taken the wizarding world patronus quiz I got the Crow.
Mine's a mole
JKR should’ve made Corporeal Patronus’ able to block the forbidden curses. It seems like it’d be hard to accomplish and not broken. Imagine the patronus dying; it was be so sad. Wizards would run into battle with their spirit animal. PETA would never let that happen actually. I just think that something like a mammoth patronus should be able to block a killing curse at least once.
you are excellent knowledgable thank you
Interesting. According to Pottermore, my patronus is a brown hair. 🐇 I dont know if its fitting or not, I wouldn't call me timid.. but it works.
Video idea for you to do:
What additional effects do spells have that are not seen in the movies? For instance, what else can the patronus charm do besides ward off dementors?
Tbh, I took the online quiz for finding out my Patronus and I got a stag; like both James and Harry Potter. Idk the significance of it before this video, ngl.
- so its only if you are evil and revel in that darkness that you can't make one? If you think you are actually righteous in your acts, even if they are evil it will work like with Umbridge?
What would you say, about those who's Patronus is that of an Black Mamba. I might ask?
Mine personally is a Nebelung Cat (though I'm not sure what that would mean specifically).
I find myself wondering, what would it mean if a witch or wizard had an amoeba for a patronus?
I got the otter on the Harry Potter fan page. I'm up there with Hermione!!!
Ernie McMillan was in Hufflepuff, not Gryffindor
So it kinda sounds to me that whatever your patronus is can tell you what animal form you’d take if you became an animagus.
Most Adult Wizards and Witches can't cast a patronus.
Patronus represents hope and happiness.
Even in the Wizarding World, adults are dead inside.
It's a bit disappointing that you didn't mention how George wasn't able to produce a patronus after his twin brother's death.
Wasn’t Ernie a Hufflepuff?
If it's that difficult to do, Harry Potter is the greatest teacher of all time. He taught an entire group of children to do it.
My test came back with a Thestral which I think is pretty freaking cool, but I have no idea what it means
Mines a dolphin 🐬
Nicely made video. I hope you cover all the patronous that are full corporeal. I got a dragonfly as my patronous.
I got a Basset hound! I was so surprised, I've never really thought about them. I've only ever met one.
@@kellysouter4381 Being a Dog it represents loyalty, they are apparently very gentle easy going sociable dogs.
Pottermore gave me a swallow patronous. I was upset at first, until i read into it. Very strong patronous.
9:25 MYTH. Nowhere in the books does it say that James' patronus was a stag, ONLY that it was his animagus form. You can theorize it if you want, but his patronus form is never stated in the books, so we don't know. People keep repeating this for some reason.
The Patronus animal is pretty much always the same as the animagus form, so it's a safe bet.
@@HarryPotterTheory
I've heard that argument before, but the only example of a known animagus with a matching known patronus is McGonagall, who was/cast a cat in both cases. One example does not make a pattern.
There's also Lupin, but he was a werewolf rather than a wolf animagus, so that's really a different story.
When i did the protronus test on the wizarding World site i got a black mare does anyone know what it means
Petronas are the inner spirit manifestation in coporial form
While animagus gives a physical form
- So some patronesses don't come out in the same white light color? it said that one kid made a black cat one?
when i took the patronus test, i actually got a king cobra. i was also sorted into slytherin, lol.
Oh, the irony. My Patronus was apparently the phoenix and my house would be Ravenclaw.
How do you know your patronus?
I believe Voldemort would be vain enough to attempt to cast a patronus, but skilled enough survive the maggots
A black cat? I thought every patronus was the same colour?
That was very awesome would like to know more about any other possible patronus of any of the other characters
Im a Hufflepuff and my patronus is a Saint Bernard Dog
Seemed like many (most?) of Dumbledore's army succeeded .. 🤔. Not sure Seamus' difficulty is enough to justify the claim of difficulty. Oddly, for a spell that requires a happy anchor, it seems hardship might be a stronger driver. Perhaps necessary to amplify or contrast the happy thought.
Apparition was also stated to be difficult, yet it seemed that most were capable of it. At least of those we know.
but Dolores' heart was pure, pure evil but pure nonetheless...
