Crisp, energetic, elegant. And the pedal registration in the Toccata simply takes it over the top. Extraordinary organ, with a truly exceptional performer playing one our the greatest musical treasures. What a gift! Breathtaking.
when everything goes wrong in your life and you wake up one morning in the nature and listen accidentally toccata! you are not the same person anymore! you are a better person!
I have listened to this performance many many times. I have come to the conclusion that...I can't "un hear" the constant cougher in the back ground. Such a great performance. Thank you for this.
Mostly I feel very distracted by watching Bach organ music, because I am used to listen in churches, on radio or CD. But this performance on youtube, only adding to the whole experience! Marie-Magdalena using her feet like a ballerina! Beautiful hands, and I couldn't stop watching! Well done! I love it!
I return to BWV 564 time and time again, especially when I need of some joyful, uplifting music! There are so many renditions available to Bach lovers on UA-cam however I must admit Maria-Magdalena's playing of it is my first choice. I hope all you good people agree!
She makes it seem so effortless! She seems so relaxed as her hands and feet dance over the keys as though it were nothing, but I cannot imagine how many thousands of hours of practice it took her to get there, or how many hours she must practice every day to maintain such a level of sublime realization of this incredible music. She is the most marvelous organist I've ever heard.
gowd sake, «way too fast». No, I am prostesting! Maria-Magdalena chose logical tempi! I suspect you belong to Albert Schweitzer’s fanclub, but then I must disappoint you - A. Schweitzer didn’t understood much of this.
Just love the choice of reeds for the pedal solo in the toccata; all round a magnificent performance on a fine organ, a perfect match for the acoustics of the church.
Yes, I was glued to the performance with a smile ear-to-ear. She would have had Bach proud of her. Then I listened to her play it again from the top. The Soubasse 16 pipes are so amazing; wow!
I have watched/listened to this performance many times over the last 2+ years (after listening to many other performances) . I have come to the conclusion that your performance is what I consider to be the Gold standard over all the rest. Your understanding of Bach’s intention (as I see/hear it) , emotion is unparalleled by any other performance (live or recorded) . Bach is alive in You! Please , oh please come to NYC as to hear, see and experience Bach at his and your Finest . Thank You Maria. RJMBlack
I come to this corner of time and space to see how precious is her performing, how sensitive and pure, BACH himself would be very proud of her, Madame KACSOR is a wonder of the universe. In my life I will never get tired of hearing she again and again. This Masterpice is one of my favourite BACH'S creations, since I was a child sixty years ago, and here is performed by a beautiful angel.
Trop trop beau. Absolument merveilleux. Merveilleuse organiste.
Merci Maria-Magdalena!
I agree with David Perrins - BWV 564 is an outstanding piece especially the toccata, and Maria-Magdalena's voicing brings me out in goosebumps, and often these are accompanied by a tear or two, every time I listen to this recording.
Maria-Magdalena, an impeccable performance. Listen always to the musician (and JSB)within, and not to critics however well informed they imagine themselves to be. I will seek to hear more from you.... and this is from an admirer of Mme Marie-Claire Alain.
Elegant and accurate and oh so beautiful. I am inspired by your graceful touch both hands and feet. Thank you Maria-Magdalena Kaczor. A delight! So great to hear you play T, A & F.
I’ve always been drawn to the big organs. this one is being played by a very skilled lady. Wonderfull performance. I could listen to her playing for hours on end!
I totally agree, this young woman is, as you say, phantastic!!! I think I'm right in saying that when JSB was asked to commission a new organ, he chose this because of its wide use of stops, & particularly for the superb pedaling, that M-M demonstrates so admirably. Pity about the persistent coughing, I'm surprised no one clapped between movements.
Thank you for what you are giving to people. The day is lighter with your music and every ugly thing passes by without hurting me. Go on posting because I really need your music
This is the performance of an organist my ears were waiting for and I've got to tell you you have the agility and articulation that I do not see often in interpreters of Bach music. You are a model for generation of Bach musicians and players. Congratulations! EXCELSIOR.
Bach wrote music more than two and a half centuries ago and it challenges dedicated musicians to interpret & execute his works thereby raising the level of human activity to an unrivalled pinnacle. Ms. Kaczor, with this performance you have reinforced that. Kudos.
despite extraneous noise during the final bars of the Siciliano and the opening of the Fugue, a tremendous and wonderful performance!! Congratulations! So lovely to hear a fine instrument and so fine a performer! Thanks you!
Maria-Magdalena. Don't change anything including yourself. This was technically magnificent, and flawlessly beautiful. We are not waiting until you are 80 before extolling the virtuosity of this performance.
Her legs must be short since her heels cannot reach the pedals. This should be a handicap for any organist, but she dances along the pedals with ease and precision.
Thomas, I am sorry for my inadequate English. They normally didn't play with heels back then. If you watch her play organ music from the 1800-1900, I am sure that she also use her heels.
She is not only lovely and beautiful, but really plays on a high level of mastering this complicated and fantastic instrument - I really like her performance......precise articulation and very good registration.....she acts sometimes as a pianist, but when somebody is so young it makes no hurt....
If you go back before recorded history, people have a tradition of dance. They took it very seriously back then, it was how they prayed to God. It is no coincidence that Herr Bach incorporated this sort of music into his music.
Love this BWV 564! Great registration selection for pedal voices! Very quick tempo - fingers have to go so fast! Great performance - thank you! (from Canada)
BMW564 i especially highlights the way you are able to become so absolutely the music and nothing else.thank you so much for all of the beauty you give, may it return to you tenfold.
Sorry for my bad English. You are wrong! The pedal solo are closer to sport than music. He wrote the piece to show everyone his technical skills. About the solo: the modulations are ordinary without any beauty. We don't find any beautyful melody lines compares to what he do in his works for cello. Because the pedal solo should impress people, you can't play it more slow than the rest of the Toccata, that it's an unlogical practice
geir øyvind eskeland You probably use the google translator to my text written in polish. Good for fun not for serious translation. :) I originally wrote about two things. The tempo of Maria's playing is perfect, not too slow, not too fast. And second thing, that the Bach music is so great that proves the God existence (however see smiley :)). Not for this particular work but as a whole. Nobody knows Bach intentions concerning the best tempo, even for this kind of virtuosity work like Toccata 564. There is - thanks to God - a huge field to different interpretations and imaginations. Personally, I don't like too fast interpretations. Rubinstein, when was asked one day why he plays so slowly, answered: “because I know how to do it”. I compare Maria interpretation which my favourite Marie-Claire Alain, CD collections (1990 edition). M-C Alain plays this Toccata even slower than M-M Kaczor and the pedal solo is better (more fluent) in my opinion in M-M Kaczor interpretation.
You're right, google translator is more fun than serious. "I originally wrote about two things", you said. No, you didn't. You forgot the important sentens about sport and music. By the way - there is no God, Bach did it all by himself. Because God not exist, I'm more grateful to the important "work" Johann Sebastians parents did back then in 1684!
geir øyvind eskeland "Almighty Bach," as Time Magazine headlined on the occasion of his 300th birthday in 1985. As for the pedal work being for show, well, certainly it is -- but Bach didn't write a note of bad music, and this is no exception. I don't have the Alain recording -- will have to look for it!
geir øyvind eskeland - so strange then, that Bach himself " ... believed that music brought glory to God, as the initials SDG (Soli Deo Gloria, "To God alone be glory") at the end of most of his scores bear witness." (www.christianitytoday.com/history/issues/issue-95/to-glory-of-god-alone.html) I guess Bach was just delusional, and wasted his time writing all that stuff -
Crisp, energetic, elegant. And the pedal registration in the Toccata simply takes it over the top. Extraordinary organ, with a truly exceptional performer playing one our the greatest musical treasures. What a gift! Breathtaking.
Since Bach sounds so good on this organ, I was wondering if its specifications were modelled closely after those of Bach's Thomaskirche.
I find myself coming back to this recording, time after time. It really is superb.
The world needs more of this.
I like how the audience starts strangling the guy who keeps coughing and won't leave
when everything goes wrong in your life and you wake up one morning in the nature and listen accidentally toccata! you are not the same person anymore! you are a better person!
So many persons don't know these composition , only organists and some composers know.
So many persons don't know these composition , only organists and some composers.
There is a joy that music brings and with it comes what we need for the day. I am glad you can know that gift and tell the story.
I have listened to this performance many many times. I have come to the conclusion that...I can't "un hear" the constant cougher in the back ground. Such a great performance. Thank you for this.
maybe this person was serious sick? Think.

A wonderful musical contrast to a restless world. Beautifully played. Thank you Ms Kaczor!

Incredible music and a master at playing it
Magnificent, this is the work of an Angel: Maria Magdalena Kacsor.
A prodigy of the universe and a wonder of the centuries.
Articulation, registration, tempo. Everything is perfect and full of mastery here. Congratulations!
The best performance of this music I've ever heard (and I've been listening to Bach organ music for over 50 years!).
Agree. Likewise. And this girl has got 'IT.'.
Way too fast and too much bass
gowd sake, «way too fast». No, I am prostesting! Maria-Magdalena chose logical tempi! I suspect you belong to Albert Schweitzer’s fanclub, but then I must disappoint you - A. Schweitzer didn’t understood much of this.

The humility of someone of this skill and talent is both gratifying and astonishing.
I love the nuance and detail of her performance, her choice of disposition, her tempo, and her expressivity. All around greatness.

It's quarantine and this performance is still the best. Now nine years since this video was released everything looks so different.
Marvellous, I really like it. I come back to this recording again and again,
I love the way all the phrases are so beautifully defined. Totally convincing performance.
Bravissima! Così mi piace questa Toccata! Un'esecuzione veramente brillante, leggera, piacevole!

I'm back to be uplifted by Maria-Magdelena's playing of this glorious piece. Eleven years on, I must catch up with M-M very soon!

Beautifully and crisply played. Excellent choice of registration giving great contrast between the three movements. Superb, really peerless!
I surfed here and found a really great organist. I saved this execution and I will listen it every time things go wrong. Thank you Mss Kaczor to exist

True!❤
You almost have little choice! Plus she's a brilliant organist !!

Wonderful peace of Bach and Amazing Performance Magdalena
Wonderful! one can even hear the deep pedal, which is usually rolled off on about every organ recording. Superb and passionate playing!

Bravo, wonderful, wish you a very successful future. Well done Poland. xxxx
Nicely done. Happy to see all these new young artists staying with the organ.

geir øyvind eskeland - so strange then, that Bach himself " ... believed that music brought glory to God, as the initials SDG (Soli Deo Gloria, "To God alone be glory") at the end of most of his scores bear witness." (www.christianitytoday.com/history/issues/issue-95/to-glory-of-god-alone.html)
I guess Bach was just delusional, and wasted his time writing all that stuff -
Fine technique. She plays relaxed and is absolute in control
