Recently made a quarter sized hole not paying attention. This totally worked. Local craft store has a huge bag of floss for 4$ so Im set for the next 23 holes, thanks!
You just saved my rug, because the technique of sewing on a patch of scrap primary fabric was hideous. I use burlap, so I just unraveled some scrap pieces and used those fibers to re-weave the tear and it worked perfectly. Wish I could add a pic in the comments. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Thank you so much, I have a commission I've been working on for weeks and I got a massive hole when I decided to use a new gun that was fault and the scissors tore up a section right where two colours meet D; Seriously this tutorial is going to be a life saver for my project, thank you so much!
@@ImAshleeS Finished it on time and the area where the hole is is hardly noticeable! I wish I had found your tutorial sooner rather than trying a million other things that only made the problem worse first. Thank you once again ;v; by far the best solution out there!
Thank you soo much for the tip!!! I love watching your videos!!! I starting tufting just some months ago and it has been a looong learning process, sometimes it feels like I still don't know what i'm doing 😭 and your videos are so helpful!
When you put a flame under a normal needle and heat it up, you can bend it with pliers- just don't burn yourself on the hot needle! Helps if you cant find them at the store or are too cheap to buy them ;)
Ive used burlap and that worked well (not for the curves tho) and a fabric that looks a lot like monks cloth but its not as expensive, I think its just embroidery fabric. Maybe it’s too soft?
@@Fran-kg2dc Burlap is not expensive, but it’s also made not to last, so it will rot and fall apart. Fine for pieces you don’t care about and don’t plan on keeping. But not great if you want to make a quality, not lasting product.
Thank you so much for this video! I am working on a punch needle rug and all other solutions for holes included glue which wouldn’t work for me, as I’m still very much in process and could not punch through glue!
Thank you so much creating these very useful content. I'm a beginner in tufting and your videos help me navigate this learning journey. :) I'd just like to ask how do you keep your rugs to consistent sizes is it through your projector or another way? Thank you again!
I just tore a whole and I wanna try this. When using the embroidery floss doesn't this show up on the other side of the design? Or is there something i'm missing
When tufting using a cut pile gun be careful not to pull the gun out of the canvas while the machine is still moving. Also be sure to keep good pressure on the canvas while tufting or the machine can sort of jump back and cut the canvas creating a hole.
Hi could you help me, I am new to tufting and my monks cloths peeks thru my rug when im finished like some white strings get punched thru and then the cloth is visible once I’m done with the sheers
This may be a lazy way out but maybe just patch in a small square of burlap that could act as the fibers, then you only have to worry about sewing in a square
Thankyou for rescuing me this is gonna be a lifesaver down the track

This technique is called darning like a knitter does with a hole in a sock. Nice neat work you’ve done here; been enjoying your videos :)
Oh darn

I'm SO glad it worked for you!! :D
I'm glad you said you use burlap and it worked. So do I and I scrapped a beautiful rug over a out of control tear.
I'm going to try that
This is so helpful. I dug in a little too deep when shaping the edge of some tufts and you've saved me from having to scrap the rug with this video.

How did your project turn out?

I definitely thought a hole in the cloth means throw the whole rug away. Glad to know that’s not the case . Thank you!

I needed this! I still struggle creating curves or going diagonally, usually that’s how I rip the fabric😭 any tips on that? Love your content!
me too😭 i see people glide and make curves and all kinds of shapes and when i do it the fabric rips! that's literally the only time i rip it
🙏🙏🙏 What kind of fabric are you using? I've noticed that this tends to happen with tufters who are using monks cloth instead of tufting fabric

Thanks AJ. I totally haven’t watched any other YT on this matter.

Nice save!🎉
I do have a different problem. I have gaps in between the colours and I can't tuft in them c0z it rips when i do. What do i do to fix it?
I’m having the same issue - planning to try and tighten up those spots with the technique shown in this video!
Nice! From your experience, why do these tears happen? I get them a little too often…

Thank you for this 🫡🫡 any recommendations on tufting cloth? I have a big frame and burlap isnt that great with my cut pile 😅
can you make a video of the frame where you put the cloth?
Thanks!

Let’s say I managed to really mess up and tore a pretty big hole. would getting another piece of tufting fabric and sowed it around the hole work?
Perfect!
Sooooooo helpful...thank you!
Quiero aprender hacer esto, ojalá que sea posible subir algunos vídeos con subtítulos en español.
Can I just glue another piece of cloth on that area ?
What are the measurements to your frame? Also my yarn is always coming out of my gun can’t figure out what I’m doing.
Soooo helpful thank you!!
thank you so much! this was so helpful :)
Do you think burlap is better then monks?
Keep it up!

I just did this😢😢😢 and this rug took me soo fkn long to make...ughh... i have to patch it! I have to succeedd!
Update: it worked!! Do exactly as this gal guides! It worked well with monk cloth👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊
Does glue work?
I don't think so, because you need to be able to tuft through it. And you can't tuft through glue
Did she tie the ends or no?????
That was awesome💜
Can you make a pop it please🥺
This literally just happened today and I didn’t know what to do
please russia subtitles 💙
aj do you have instagram?
