But of course! We’ve gotten a copyright strike for using the Topgun theme in our Flagg review so you’ll just have to imagine Kenny Loggins from now on I’m afraid!
This was a great piece of work, I remember I had an all out war with my toys; G.I Joe vs. transformers vs. Mask vs. Gobots. vs. He-man vs.Thundercats. An in depth story line that took up my whole bedroom. And the winner???? My Dad...when he came home early from work. He never knew I had all that stuff until that day. Let's just say he did a "Thanos" in 1985, I love him, but it took a long time to forgive that bum. So now I draw out my imaginations and I'm quite good at it and earn a living off of it. But damn, do you know how much that Optimus Prime: Power master and a Tomahawk is worth now?
That’s heartbreaking! Wow. Father or not, it would take me a while to forgive that too. And as for the rising value of these toys now... also pretty heartbreaking. I’ve pretty much stopped buying them as a result.
I saw that too; HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU DUDES CREATE A WATERTIGHT HULL FOR THE USS FLAGG??? (And why didn't Hasbro ever think of an add-on like that to the carrier set?)
I'd love to, but HASBRO has totally 'written off' GI JOE in favor of Star Wars merchandise; if this suggestion were made 20 years ago (or even 10 years ago) It could've worked. But just the same, enjoy your custom carrier and keep showing outrageously cool JOE vids! Peace!
I hate to waste all that beautiful glass! I have another controversial view on the SHARC too. I don’t think Deep Six should ever pilot it. At least not wearing his suit. He’s already wearing a diving vehicle! Pretty redundant to make him operate one on top of that!
@@gijoburg It helps to have redundancy as the vehicle could get damaged in a fight and either leaks or he has to bail out. And, is this capture the origin of the Manta Ray (?) via reverse engineering?
Wonder what was the warhead on that cruise missile? No conventional warhead can one shot an aircraft carrier, especially not a Nimitz class (they have as much deck armor as a battleship). A nuke? An EMP? The possibilities are a bit scary
... or maybe just a statement? Scaling on the Flagg is always a bit of a guess. The toy is geared to launch Skystrikers sure, but the size of the boat really makes it more of an amphibious carrier; Marines-style right? And a high tech Cobra warhead punching through around the waterline might be pretty crippling in that case. But I do like your extrapolations! Live the adventure with GI Joe!!!
@@gijoburg, amphibious carriers are small carriers, about the same size as a WW2 fleet carrier. Those are notoriously hard to kill with bombs/guided missiles (just look at how many hits it took to kill the USS Yorktown CV5). The only ways to reliably kill a carrier are torpedoes (at least 2-3 hits) and/or a nuke (10KT warhead or larger). That said, a missile or bomb hit on the flight deck will put the carrier out of action for at least a month or more.
Yes, but even fighting damaged has it's problems. Or just being forced to go home to spend time and money on repairs and possibly even treatment for combat injuries and to get replacement personnel for injured and dead crew. Plus, as he said, it's also about making a statement. Al Qaeda attacked US warships in 2000 before the 2001 attacks with speedboats loaded with explosives. It didn't sink them, but it caused injuries, loss of life, and damaged the ships, as well as sending a political message to the US.
Nice touch of having Polly with Adm. Keel-Haul. Always weird that he was Shipwreck's pet as parrots usually got tagged with the Captain of a ship. "Who are you calling Old?" In Marvel's G. I. Joe # 8, Hawk noted he had been in uniform for 30 years; as his filecard noted he was a West Point grad, and one has to be at least 18 years old to qualify entrance to the US Military Academy, he was already at least 48 at the time of Operation: Lady Doomsday. Lady J under Cobra control... Lol! She was never anywhere NEAR Scarlett's caliber as a spy, let alone a woman and heroine anyway! 😁👍
Ooooooh feel the burn Lady Jaye! I guess I always made her more prominent because of the more practical sculpt. And Scarlett was Rob’s figure anyway. With Shipwreck recovering from his bout with Zarana’s dart I guess Polly got her claws into the next best thing. And I can’t imagine Keel Haul being younger than Hawk. He was flying F4’s in ‘Nam!
GI Joburg - Agree about Keel-Haul's age. As he's a Vice Admiral at the time he assumed command of USS Flagg, he'd be about 3-5 years older, minimum, at least. The trigger to activate LJ seem inspired by the Winter Soldier.
Totally. And another commentator cited Demolition Man - Wesley Snipes is conditioned to assassinate! It’s a popular trope. Tho I must say my key inspiration just came from Mindbender’s NAME! He’s gotta do some freaky brainwashing Trojan Horse maneuver I reckon! It occurs to me perhaps Polly is actually Keel Haul’s bird, and Shipwreck is grudgingly tasked with looking after her. It would explain why Shippy is so reluctant about caring for the bird!
Dubuya Jay - I haven't forgotten Lady J's arrogance & insubordination to Scarlett &Ace (G. I. Joe #s 32 & the last page of #34 (feel free to read 'em), as well as to Lt. Gen. Phil Rey in DDP's G. I. Joe Vol. 2 # 42.
FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC VIDEO !!!! THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME !!!!! I STARTED MY CHANNEL BECAUSE OF COOL CHANNELS LIKE YOURS !!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR AWESOME COLLECTION !!!!
Dudes, it was as I expected: unbridled badass-ness coupled with pure nostalgium. The sounds as the jets are prepping was done so well. And the sunset skyline too. I wonder what you think of shooting videos like this in a heavily wooded area? I know the Whale scenes in Atlantis Facto III had trees in the background but you guys did a perfect job of keeping them out of frame. Do you think it's possible to film a video in your style in a forest and it still come across as legit as Blazing Sands and Atlantis Factor? One more question would be will you ever make more BTS videos? I know I like seeing how you guys set up and the ins and outs of the process. Thanks for continuing this effort. I look forward to more videos and I'll be ordering a shirt or two for sure. :{J
Oooh! Questions! Are you concerned about forests feeling gigantically out of scale? I think we’d just avoid playing around the big trees in particular. A trend with our vids is always to shoot around water, so we’d probably be down at the stream with the big trees as a backdrop as opposed to foreground.
@@gijoburg great. Thanks for making more bts videos. I'm actually near a forest with a creek that I want to try filming something along these lines. It's just I don't want to have to set everything in a redwood forest or on The Sanctuary Moon of Endor. I shot test footage and I could keep them out of most shots, but sometimes I had them in frame. But I guess if it's okay to see you guys holding the Jets or figures it shouldn't be too much of an issue seeing a giant tree every now and then. I've got this story idea for the Joe's that mixes a lot of Resident Evil influences into it. Basically the Joe's investigate a Cobra bio weapons facility and encounter zombies. The reason I ask about the shots is I want to be able to show a helicopter bringing them in, dropping them off, and later on picking up survivors and them recollecting as they leave. It would be set in a swamp in the southern US to match the real world location. Thanks for the input. Any more tips would be welcomed. 🍻 :{J

Really like this episode. By the way, I do a mean Cobra Commander voice myself. I often wonder if the Flagg was an amphibious assault ship as it was relatively small for a carrier. Largest playset ever made, sure, but to scale it's relatively small for a aircraft carrier. Still, I think it's small size is ideal for small strike forces that need something fast and (relatively) discreet for amphibious ops that need air support. Also...glad you only put two on the ship. Yes, it's relatively few aircraft up top, but you need room to launch that you wouldn't have if you jammed the tarmat full of aircraft. Also, will we end up seeing the Weapon Transport and/or Coastal Defender on the Flagg at some point as both are ideal for usage on the Deck. As one transports missiles and other ordinance for aircraft armament and the other is a defense platform disguised as a plain ConEx Box? Reference To Amphibious Assault Ship that is an aircraft and helicopter carrier: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasp-class_amphibious_assault_ship
I’ve often thought of just putting VTOL or STOL aircraft up top, akin to the amphibious carriers, I blogged about it many moons ago and concluded that if that were the case, Joe and Cobra need to swap Air Forces! Hurricanes, Rattlers, Firebats - Cobra’s got a monopoly. Would it have hurt too much for Hasbro to make us a Harrier? Fortunately I do own a Chap Mei Osprey and fully intend to use it on deck to move personnel or equipment some day. As for the weapon transport and coastal defender - I’d love to, I just don’t own the toys! I can’t believe you’ve got me wanting a defender... now it makes complete sense! I wonder if anyone else displays it ‘on deck’?! I think in our earliest podcast I derided it as being the worst playset ever... I think you’ve just made me rethink that position!
@@gijoburg Nah, I'm fine w/ the aircraft you are using. I just assume they are insanely powerful enough w/ thrust to get the job done on the short flight deck. After all, this task force's tech was supposed to be bleeding edge/borderline Skunkworks/Area 51 level technology in the 80s and onwards. And yes, I get why the "box" and the proverbial mini tractor are unpopular, but they make sense on the Flagg. Why, the weapons carrier and box even makes sense on a plain airstrip on land. Still, I wouldn't leave a guy waiting in the box though...ick. I'd just have one hop in after it's sprung.
@@gijoburg Also, I been on the USS Lexington. A smaller and retired WW 2 carrier that had a long career. Despite it's relatively small size, Phantoms and other more modern jets could launch off it and land on it
GI Joe and Cobra have a long history of stealing each others gear. Tiger Patrol (a converted Cobra VTOL jet since you was looking for one), Python Patrol, the Vamp jeep, I could go on and on. Still it happens irl too. Best examples I can think of would be US Spec Ops using Kalashnikovs in Southeast Asia and the Mideast and the Soviets and Germans capturing and using each others tanks due to both sides being desperate for supplies in World War II. Also Germans capturing and using British tanks in late WW I.
@@gijoburg Speaking of G1 GI Joe VTOL, do you guys have the Skystorm? I feel Windmill gets an unfair amount of hate and so does his personal vehicle. It is ideal for the mini carrier, after all. And will Wild Bill and his personal Attack Helicopter show up on the Flagg at some point? It's HueyCobra-based design is ideal for carrier duty.

I had a blast watching thanks
HOORAAAY well done folks!
Awesome episode fellas. It's gonna be a badass conclusion. Keep up the stellar work.
YO Joe!
Awesome job guys , can't wait for the conclusion . Have a good holiday .
Hope you’re having a good holiday too Ed!

A trip down memory lane, isn't it?
These are fastly becoming my favs of the channel.

Felicidades, un vídeo muy bueno y divertido.
Love this sooooo much thank you
You’re very welcome Christopher. We love doing em.
Great job guys!!
well done guys loving it
Brilliant !
Very gooood thcks!!!!!!!!!!!!
66 likes awesome movie, I wish my USS Flagg would float on water :) love it
I saw that too; HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU DUDES CREATE A WATERTIGHT HULL FOR THE USS FLAGG??? (And why didn't Hasbro ever think of an add-on like that to the carrier set?)
@@chrismayer3919 you should contact Haslab Hasbro to see if they would make a USS Flagg that would really float,
I'd love to, but HASBRO has totally 'written off' GI JOE in favor of Star Wars merchandise; if this suggestion were made 20 years ago (or even 10 years ago) It could've worked. But just the same, enjoy your custom carrier and keep showing outrageously cool JOE vids! Peace!
Only con I can think of for this: Zarana is driving the SHARC wrong, unless it was on autopilot.
Great video still.
Wrong relative to the toy... but right relative to the comic book and the cartoon. And my personal opinion!
@@gijoburg Yeah, it looks weird having the pilot face down on the large cockpit.
I’ve got a Wave Crusher back home... my first blush with the SHARC mold. And defs not my last. I think that toy has shot up the ranks into my top 5.
Can this be a Netflix series? Awesome
Ha! We’d gladly do this full time if Netflix wanted to throw some budget at us!
Oh man production design and sound mixing in this scene awesome....I loved it so much 🤩🤩🤩
Maravilloso! Wonderful episode! Can't wait for the next one!!!!
FINALLY! G.I.JOE LEGGINGS! I can go into public respectfully again!
Next up GI Joburg skinny jeans lol 😂
That would be awesome, I’ll be slowly adding items over the course of the next few months. So keep an eye open
I hope they come with the wicked Iron Grenadiers artwork!
Delvis 78 oh totally, there’s sticker versions as well and they’re already available. :) love the support Del :)
It is my pleasure! Glad I can help in any format at all!
Great as usual....you guys do a great job
Amazeballs!
Another winner gents! Great job.
Another great episode.
10/10 amigo, gran abrazo!
Love this episode.
Wow...harsh. I love both. No need for the hate, fam.
Dubuya Jay - I haven't forgotten Lady J's arrogance & insubordination to Scarlett &Ace (G. I. Joe #s 32 & the last page of #34 (feel free to read 'em), as well as to Lt. Gen. Phil Rey in DDP's G. I. Joe Vol. 2 # 42.
Love this epic movie better then the 1986 movie 😮 maybe 😂
Excellent as always can’t wait for the next one

Oh man that was so great. I hated that it ended
There will always be more my brother. I can assure you if that! Then we’ll put out the collected editions on BluRay!!!
@@gijoburg what really? Holy moly
And as for some BTS stuff... that’ll be my very next release actually!
Only tip I have is this: GO FOR IT. If this webisode thing has taught me anything, it's that an appreciative audience will always find you if you're un-ironically following your passion. And Joes and Resident Evil is a personal fave play pattern of mine. If you ever dig thru our podcast archive, we did a RE special wherein I discuss my adventures into survival horror...
@@gijoburg Thanks for that. And I'm going to check out the podcasts. I'd love to hear about that RE/JOE story.
I'll just try some stuff out and see how it goes down at the creek. If it's anywhere close to decent footage I might post it on youtube and I'll send you guys a link.
Thanks again for the advice. Yo Joburg! :{J

Excellent as always. Was this Robs voice acting debut? The Cobra Commander sequence was perfect, top quality filming and editing
It was indeed Rob’s first time behind the mic!
Yeah, I'll always love Latta, but I'm glad they're going for a slightly more serious and competent Cobra Commander.
Thanks! In the back of my mind I guess I don’t want to step on anyone’s canon too much. Is CC a snake man? A used car salesman? Baron Ironblood? Maybe he should be like the Joker... all those things and none of those things.
@@gijoburg "If I'm to have a past...I prefer...multiple choice.* *Laughs in snake.*
What the, did I just catch a Demolition Man reference?
Accidental, surely. What line?
@@gijoburg 3:08 that's what the old doctor guy tells Wesley Snipes outside of Taco Bell.
You're totally right! Cribbed it without realizing it! Expect a weird virtual reality sex scene with Sandra Bullock next...
@@gijoburg Let's just hope you don't get a copyright claim from Peter M. Lenkov, Robert Reneau OR Daniel Waters. Then again you could call it a tribute.
So far so good! If they do claim, I think I might know who let em know 😉
this episode was fantastic!
Parabéns pelo vídeo!
This is so Awesome,well done
Thank you Iain!
Holy Empire Strikes Back; apart from Zartan getting tagged, the Joes really get it handed to them hard in this one when you think about it!
Cobra do eventually lose a base and five Dreadnoks. But yeah, the Joes were definitely on the back foot in this one!
GI Joburg
I always wondered where Torch was...and another thing I love about rewatching these is that I find something new each time, like how you give Destro a Scottish accent. Brilliant touch!
BUUUURG! ! !
YA GOT A NEW SUBSCRIBER!!!! TOOOO FREAKIN COOOOL!!!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Welcome to Joburg Tony!
AWESOOOOOME
The one thing that always bugged me was ace wearing a SR-71 style flight suit in the sky striker
At least we can see his pretty little face under that dome! But yeah, it’s an interesting choice. They did eventually get around to doing Ace in a more traditional g-suit fortunately. But I imagine the 90s version is off a lot of collectors’ radar.
@@gijoburg the helmet on my figure never stayed on so when I had him in the sky striker I never put it on him I could see them using that suit for another figure like the shuttle pilot/astronaut figure
Cool
Really like this episode. By the way, I do a mean Cobra Commander voice myself. I can do the traditional one, ore lower my voice and make it more huskier until I reach the point where I sound like Dr. mad from Inspector Gadget or Soundwave from Transformers. So if you are interested😉. I’ll do it for free. I do live in the Netherlands however, but I’m sure modern technology could overcome that problem. Just let me know if you are interested. Mark van Leeuwen
Thanks Mark! I’m sure you do a mean CC indeed! And he’s a lot of fun to play alright. Tell you what, if you can do an Orson Welles impersonation... I’m interested!
Let me get back to you on that. I’ll need to practice a bit for that impressive voice.😉
Very very good!!
And knowing is half the battle 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Information is ammunition. Wait...wrong show.
