I saw your videos and thought "wow she must live a perfect life" because you seemed so happy. And now that youve helped us understand your tough journey. Im convinced that nobody is perfect as they may seem. And thats a beautiful tale. We celebrate our wins in life but also celebrate overcoming the tough times. I truly love you sharing your journey. New follower. Gardening is my refuge from stress. I feel like its the best hobby Ive ever had. Its an investment that yeilds and gives back not only food, but to the spirit. (Cheesy i know but wow thank you so much for being real. It makes you so likeable and helps us all be more accepting of our own journeys).

30’s are great! Usually some life lessons learned by then but aren’t afraid to try new things! It would be the decade I’d choose to do again if I could!

Happy early birthday! I’m turning 36 this year and I have loved being in my 30’s. I feel like I’ve finally grown into myself 😂
Garden looks great! I also enjoyed the story about your (great?) grandfather. 😊

Happy Early Birthday. After our freeze apocalypse killed our meyer lemon and key lime we replaced them and put them in large pots to bring inside during a freeze. Pomogranates do great here in Texas in ground its so nice to not have to cover it, makes great fruit. I'm covering our back garden fence area with asparagus it grows well here and so far nothing wants to eat it, that's a bonus. Your roses and black berries will look awesome. We love figs so i'm adding a new variety this year. Love your potao patch! Loofah is its own beast, lol one plant practically took over our garden one year. Good luck deterring the Squirrels, those f-ers ran off with our best avocado crop last year. 😂

    Howdy neighbor!
That first peach tree you showed looks amazing! So much fruit and new green wood on it!
About your citrus, at this point I’ve tried: grapefruit, Meyer lemons, tangerines, key limes, Granny Smith apples, peaches, plums, and figs.
Everything has died except my peaches, the plum (still alive at my buddy’s house), and my Osborne fig (the Celeste figs all died). I’ve found that stone fruit does well, citrus has been getting wiped out every winter since 2020. My buddy bought a house in 2019 that had peaches, grapefruit, lemons, and limes that were mature and well established. Everything died in the Feb 2021 storm except the peaches.
at this point I only do peaches and figs. I might try more plums in the future, but with these hard freezes, I just do whatever is low maintenance.
Except my Hawaiian pineapples, which just spent 5 months in the garage. I’m looking forward to them fruiting and dying so I can stop babying them.
Great video! Y’all have done a great job with the yard! Looking forward to your peach tree update in may/june

Your tomatoes are looking good. And the lemonade tree (Ujukitsu) has been a trooper through the hard winters we have had the last few years. This year it held its leaves and has started blooming. Hope it produces well for you in the future. Limes just do not seem to be able to handle any freezing weather. We always look forward to your videos. Thanks.

Lol your interaction with the wine snob guy 😆 Yeah idk what he’s so bothered about with backyard wine lol. But your plan for everything sounds really nice! I’m battling mice in the garden rn and it is the most annoying thing ever. I can’t wait to see your garden as it grows this season!

@@WhatBrookeGrows I am seething with rage over these mice 😭 This morning I found a tulip nibbled off at the base and then one of the mice decided to tight rope walk on the new growth from my grape plant and that whole 1ft of new growth fell off 😆 I just know the mouse fell with it, so it’s kind of funny to picture but I also want to punch air rn 🤬

Loved the intro! That peach 🍑 tree was absolutely LOADED! If you go with a pomegranate tree, please consider an Angel Red variety. They’re fast growing with soft edible seeds, MUCH SWEETER than the Wonderful, and highly productive. Congrats on your grass. Thanks for sharing and stay blessed Brooke!

We have a swatch across the middle of our back yard that gets super mucky and wet every Spring. It drains across several yards into a marshy area a couple yards away. I’ve been contemplating putting in a rain garden with native Ohio plants in the very wettest part by our fence. I was thinking it would help with the water, help the environment, and be beneficial to butterflies and bees and whatnot. Seeing yours, I think I need to float the idea to my husband and do some research.

Our family is new to the DFW area with gardening experience in San Diego so I wasn't ready for the SVB issue! lol I sowed indoors like I normally do and then my husband recommended I join a vegetable group on FB. There I got some tips I'm trying out to deter SVB. This year's test is a recommendation from an experience grower that uses the same white paint for fruit tree trunks on his squash bases! I thought it seemed more reasonable than injecting BT every week haha We'll see how it does! Best of luck on your spring garden!
PS. i cant wait to see how your wedding flower journey goes! :D I'm very excited for you

Im in the DFW area. Peaches, plums, apricots do great. Figs are supposed to do well but I’ve had no luck. Pomegranate does great, and is so pretty, but I don’t like them. Haha. Maybe try some semi tropical things: papaya, guava, passion fruit, banana. Or something more native and less typical like mulberry or paw paw or bay (like bay leaves).
