Congrats on graduating and hitting that 1 year mark as well! Ad revenue alone indeed won't cut it unless you hit at least 1-1.5 million views per month alone (assuming the watch time is good as well). It's pretty much a feast or famine business.
Really good job considering you’re only 1 year in! It’s only up from here I believe! It took me 2 years to reach the numbers you are looking at towards the end of this graph!
Thanks for the encouragement. Towards the end of the graph ~last 5 weeks or so of videos cornered some of the higher viewed content in my niche. not the most fun or innovative content to make but it will perform well. The branching out is the harder part. Hopefully I can ride the wave into year 2!
@@SilhouetteGaming1 Yeah, like you said! Gaming is tough! I had a gaming channel at first and saw 0 traction. Eventually I switched to “school subject tutorials”, in my case biotech and started doing a lot better basically immediately. But it’s still been a rather slow climb but topics like that work better with my day work as I learn things for the videos I can use at work and vice verca. However, I’ve always dreamt of making a few GW2 videos as I’ve been playing it on and off since launch😇
Not a big surprise, but appreciate the info, since we as viewers can only speculate without this kind of info, gratz on college, hoping to watch more videos. thanks! keep up the grind.
@disco2660 it's far less glamorous than people make it out to be. But it's better than nothing i suppose! I just edit/create in my free time anyways so it's always nice
keep grinding also shorts seems to be helping me alot i dont know your content but if you can make shorts out of your videos that can help your channel reach new viewers
Been a big fan of the channel mostly the zero to hero series. Sad to see the reality of it but if you’re expanding oldschool RuneScape is a fun one to try out
I will definitely return to the zero to hero series here shortly!! Going to experiment a little bit with some things but it's coming! I'm intentionally holding off on it to grow the channel a bit and work through some of the grind so we can come back with a bang. Got a good amount of GW2 stuff in the works.
I got subbed because of the ZtH series and the relaxed commentary focused more on engagement than gameplay, but also understand most people don’t need or want that. I thought the question / answer hook style was a cool idea.
@@aarongabriel5749 Nice, yeah i intend on continuing that once the Z2H returns. they were some of my more favorite videos to make, its just they perform horribly. in terms of growing the channel and ad revenue. when the choice is between $60-70/mo vs $180-200+ for build/farming guides the choice is clear if money is the motive.
Congrats on finishing college man!! 100% All for this. I can't stand the thing in the US at least where there's this weird stigma around talking about $ earnings. I started making videos for the same reason -- just to explain stuff. And I can't stand the "interesting" or "inflammatory" nature of YT. That's entertainment for you tho. I just wish people knew more about the machine they were feeding. So videos like this are super helpful! 😄
You don't need a better Niche but rather then your OWN SITE where all your Intellectual Property is available to watch for Visitors and where your Rules apply. Don't make the Mistake and being depend on a Plattform someone else owns and owning you and your created content too. YES, doing your own Site and Hosting of Videos by yourself (by a Company for managed Video Hosting) is NOT so convenient like doing it on UA-cam but on the other Hand you also don't have to give Google a cut of your Earnings through Ad Management if you do that Part also by yourself. Every time you use UA-cam for uploading your Videos, you're promoting UA-cam and not yourself.
Thanks for the video. It was very informative, and I agree with almost everything you said. If you want to make some money from the Guild Wars 2 channel, the title of the video needs to include the words "build" or "gold." My videos are mostly about World vs World, and I don't expect much because of family, work, etc., and sometimes I don't play for 9-10 months. Besides that, English is not my primary language, maybe my second or third, which is why I don't speak in all my videos, just occasionally. When Helldivers 2 came out, I didn't start playing from the beginning. I began the next month on another channel, RufioGamerPlays, and within one month, I gained almost 2,000 subscribers and nearly 2 million views. With your English and experience, I think you can reach at least double that if you wait for a new game to release. I wish you luck on your journey experimenting with new games on your channel! :)
Thanks for the insight. I do hope that the variety does well on the channel but I do still intend on making GW2 content. it's unfortunate that more avant garde videos tend to just tank for the amount of effort they take to create. Meanwhile build videos will live for 6 mo + generating steady revenue and channel growth. We'll see what happens.

What a real one dude - the video opens to the answer.
@codemeifyoucan305 yeah youtube is it's own little game. I'm not going to make anyone sit through 15 minutes to finally show what I earned.

Wow thats some honesty!
Appreciate it but be careful that YT does not blacklist you for showing this information to us ❤
@Cross_111 they won't but as expected the video is performing horribly. It's a one off we will get back to the regularly expected programming shortly.
Thank you for the information. Really strongly considering doing youtube as a side gig.
Side gig is doable for sure. Finance is most profitable
