8 out of 10 would be 4 out of 5, not 3.5. Other than that, it is interesting to hear the Younger Gens opinions on Hard Rock Bands. As everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as they are not just deliberately bashing someone for sport or publicity, and he seems to be honestly expressing his opinion without such intent. I have to completely disagree about the Perfect Strangers album, as most of us that grew up listening to Purple loved the Mark 2 lineup of the band, and that was what reformed for that album. It was not Mark 1 or early Pre-Purple chaos, and it was not any of the fake subsequent versions of Purple later on as they started to cycle through endless new members and two singers with Hughes and Coverdale. Ritchie had another one of his meltdowns and left to form Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio and eventually Glover joined Rainbow too. So it was amazing when out of nowhere, after everyone was in fairly successful new bands or in new careers after a few years apart, that the Mark II Lineup got back together for the Perfect Strangers album. The record went Platinum fairly quickly, it was amazing to hear that talented group of Musicians together again as if they had not lost a step. Sadly that only lasted a few years before Blackmore had to keep screwing with Ian Gillian and Gillian was fired. Purple interviewed dozens of singers, before they settled on Joe Lynn Turner who performed with Rainbow for a while when Dio left. When they did the one album together and the tour, the record company insisted on bringing back Ian Gillian on vocals for the bands 25th Anniversary. Gillian upset everyone with that album because they had already written and arranged several songs with Turner, but Gillian's Vocals are different and he changed most of it. After that Blackmore had his infamous Eddie Van Halen-esque meltdown and left the band for good this time. Joe Satriani came in to finish the two tours, and was asked to join, but he had contractual obligations already. Thankfully Purple was able to get Steve Morse from the Dixie Dregs and Kansas to come in and become an integral part of the band for almost the next 30 years. When Morse left for a couple of reasons, but primarily his wife's health, and because he played with dozens of other bands during those years as well. So it was of no surprise that Purple would want to make a New Album when they finally picked another Guitarist, Simon McBride, since they already had contractual obligations for another album and tour. Of course a New Guitarist would be injecting some Fresh Stylings and Exciting New Energy, and the album is a Solid Release.
