    Thanks to everyone that took the time to watch! What do you think of my top 10, do you think I got it right or would your look entirely different?

    great video. the hall of fame is my favorite topic. I like your list. what do you think jose ramirez's stats will end up at? And which rookie cards are you investing in? For example I'd like to buy the rookie card that most likely will end up on the psa post war rookie hof set registry. but sometimes its hard to figure out what psa will pick. I most likely go with Topps, Topps Chrome or Topps update. thoughts?

      Thanks again Ray, as always. The Hall of Fame discussions are usually my favorite too, and I love tracking these current players as they progress to see how their careers play out. Ramirez is one of those guys that just keeps putting together good to great seasons every year, but is not ever the very best player in the league. He's right at 1500 hits and 250 home runs after his age 31 season...I don't see him getting to 3k or 500, but I do think he has an outside shot and at the very least will be approaching those numbers by the time he's done.
      I have the same questions when it comes to the Hall of Fame registry. For more recent players, I've been collecting their Topps base and Topps Chrome to be safe, as those seem to be the most popular the past decade or so. But I still think the whole system needs an overhaul and the card should be voted on by the participants of the Hall of Fame set registry only once a player has been voted in. That way we can make an educated guess, but won't know for sure, and it'll help to hold down crazy prices for cards that aren't probably worth it (I'm looking at you 1994 Bowman Billy Wagner!)

    Great show Brutus, but I believe you forgot to add someone on this Hall of Fame list here. I know this person has doesn't have as many cumulative stats right now but to me just because of his position alone I believe he is on the Hall of Fame path and that is catcher Salvador Perez. I don't know if you had them listed with these group of guys or not but to me I think he should be listed.

      That is a really good one, thanks for pointing him out. I had dismissed him in recent years because like you said he didn't have the stats, and given his body type and playing style i figured he would have to switch positions and fade quickly. But that has not happened at all and he's managed to stay consistent even into his mid 30s. You're right, I should have given him more thought, at least on the "So Close list". I'll be sure to include an evaluation of him next time (if not sooner)!

      @@brutusonbaseball Brutus I always liked your Hall of Fame intakes. I can't wait for the writer's ballot for 2025 to come out.
      Billy Wagner who will get in on his final year on the ballot. Very sad it took the writers this long to induct him in when there's already relievers who have 300 plus saves that are in the Hall of Fame.
      Ichiro there's no questions about it is first ballot. is it going to be unanimous that I don't know.
      CC should get in
      It could be just two people that could get in but my prediction is that three guys might get in
      Andrew Jones is getting close to getting in he might get in 2026
      I believe it's time for the writers to get off being grudges when it comes to the Astros cheating scandal needs to be uplifted for Carlos Beltran. Yes he was the mastermined of the scandal but he was also a 40 year old guy in his final season when that happened. It's going to be real interesting to see will this kind of move the needle for guys that have ped implications even though sign stealing has been around for a decade it is also a form of cheating I kind of way.
      But bravo to you Brutus for all you did this year I always enjoy your show along with Cam 23, and Humm baby.
      You guys do great analogy when it comes to baseball so thank you so much.
      Let's see what 2025 brings us

      Thanks Cecil, much appreciated and happy to hear you enjoy my efforts! I love this time of year in baseball even though it's the offseason, which is one of the things that really separates it from other sports. I think that Wagner, Ichiro and Sabathia will get in this year. I'll put out a video on the ballot in the new year. Happy holidays!

    Love the video, I do things like this with my brother all the time. One question, why do you say Harper has a shot for 70+ WAR but Jose Ramirez only 60+

    • @brutusonbaseball
      @brutusonbaseball  20 днів тому +1

      Thanks for watching, always happy to meet fellow fans that are as nerdy as i am! Great question...looking at it now I think it must have been a remnant from the previous years video. At this point, I think Harper and Ramirez are both likely to reach 60 WAR, with a shot at 70, but there's not much separating them. I actually think Ramirez might end up with the higher WAR, but I'd still take Harper as more likely for the Hall because of the Fame factor. Still both likely for the Hall eventually though in my mind

    I think you're way, way off on Judge. If the BBWAA was voting on these guys right now the only guy that I'm sure goes in above Judge is Trout. Maybe Betts, but that's it. Other than Trout Judge has had the highest peak of any of these guys by a lot. His 2 MVP seasons weren't just good, they were off the charts. And his 2nd place MVP finish to Altuve was just plain wrong and I see it brought up constantly.

    • @brutusonbaseball
      @brutusonbaseball  16 днів тому +1

      Thanks for the comment buddy, you may very well be correct in the long run. But my mindset for making these lists isn't based on how the voters would go right now, it's trying to predict how things will play out at the end of their careers. Way less scientific, but gives me a lot more latitude to claim innocence later on!
      With recency bias, I'm sure Judge would get a lot more support than half the guys on this list, but he's already 33 next year. What if he declines rapidly? What if he has more injuries and can't stay on the field? After 5 or more years of that, I'm sure the voters would look less kindly on him than now. That's what I'm hesitant about, and so I decided to wait for another healthy and productive 10th year before putting him on the list. If we're basing this on eventual HoF election and not now, I'd rather have a 31 year old Machado with more hits, HRs & WAR than a 33 year old Judge with less.
      And the only reason people talk about 2017 MVP is because of the scandal, which i don't completely buy Altuve's involvement based on the evidence like most people do. If you just look at the numbers (5.4 WAA & 6.7 WAR for Altuve, 5.7 WAA & 7.0 WAR for Judge), it really could have gone either way.

      @@brutusonbaseball I think you're way undervalueing Judge's dominance. He was the single best player in baseball for 2022 and 2024, by wide margins. The only guy with more dominant seasons on your list is Trout. Other than Betts, none of those guys have had any seasons as good as Judge had in 2022 and 2024. 62 homers in a season also counts for something. I'd put Judge at # 3 on the list, but I mostly agree with the rest of it.
      P.S. The 2017 MVP vote was considered bad at the time, and it looks even worse now regardless of Altuve's involvement in the trash can stuff. (I don't really care about it, but Altuve yelling at his teammates not to rip off his shirt while rounding the bases after hitting that home run, is maybe the worst look I've ever seen on a baseball field).

      I got similar flack for not including deGrom on my top 10 about 3-4 years ago. He was the pitching equivalent of Judge at about the same point in his career, but you don't hear many people clamoring for him now to make the Hall. I don't see the two very differently until Judge puts up a couple more good seasons.
      As for Altuve, I suggest watching this video. It's what made me rethink what i just assumed for his involvement.

      @@brutusonbaseball DeGrom was nowhere near as dominant of a player as Judge has been. And Judge is already 10 higher in WAR than DeGrom with 2 seasons of 10+ WAR. Those are all time great seasons. Those are Mantle/Mays level seasons. The only other active guys with a 10+ WAR season are Trout with 2, Betts with 1, and Greinke with 1. Think about that. Seriously, Judge is a lock for the HOF right now.
