I always carry the Sog Powerpint and Nextool E1 -The Sog is sorely lacking in blade and screwdriver dept. Thanks for introducing me to the Nextool BTW, I even got my wife one 😂 Keep up the good work 👍
Leatherman K4 costs 118 USD in my country, That's more than I pay for the Rebar or Supertool, almost as much as a Wave+. Within that price I could get a good locking folder in better steel than 420HC, and a Victorinox Handyman with way more functionality or folder and Powerpint. I could alternatively get two Victorinox Foresters or 1.75 Outriders for the price of one Leatherman K4. T and K series are just too highly priced for what they offer compared to even Victorinox which has a lifetime warranty to boot. And for the record I do own the Rebar, ST300, Wave etc.
I just wish Leatherman would offer better blade steel, especially for how much they cost now. I picked up a K2 recently to replace my Milwaukee fastback because I wanted something that was just blade + a bit beefier flathead for opening panel doors. Years ago I carried a K4 (no telling what happened to it) and I liked it but wasn’t a huge fan of the thickness. I would prefer if this thing was a true K2 and they ditched the stupid awl. other than it being the ever controversial awl it really sucks as a precision screwdriver, it’s just too weak and thin. I’m thinking of reprofiling it to be just a 3.5mm technicians screwdriver Other than all that, it’s honestly great EDC when you don’t want to carry a pliers based multitool.
Leatherman is just too expensive in general. I only have a couple of Leathermans (squirt and juice c2) and I only got them because I think they're actually discontinued models which is unfortunate because they're great mt's the big one I'm still wanting to get is the crunch. I don't have any locking pliers type mt's but knife seems way too expensive. You're looking at nearly double in AUD rather than USD
The K4 is better to carry, I carry That With My T4 And P4, I always want the ones that have scissors, I also carry both Knipex Cobra And Wrench, I just don't bother with my tread anymore, too hard to replace if damaged or lost. I bought both the power pint and power access as well
The Leathermans just like most things has just skyrocketed in price. I bought a new Free K4 back in 2021, it was $65.

For this combo, perso, theres no better than a good SAK and a cobra Knipex
The powerpint does have a really good serrated blade. I agree the plain edge is mediocre.
