SOG Powerpint from AliExpress! Is It Real?

- Joe orders a SOG Powerpint with sheath and bit kit from AliExpress for $35 USD in 2023. Is this a come up for those interested in the tool but unwilling to give SOG’s website $50?
Note: someone on Reddit mentioned that the SOG items available on AliExpress are “seconds”, meaning functionally but too flawed for SOG to sell the items themselves. Not sure what this means for warranty purposes… but it’s interesting and cheaper than buying through SOG’s site!
When people are looking for deals on food, don’t even apologise about where you get your tools. 👍
its all going to the toilet or the dumpster that's what happens when it sounds too good to be true. This is a fact when looking for cheap food or tools.
SOG are made in China, but designed in EEUU. The Aliexpress SOGs are originals
I got one from Ali express, got it on a black Friday sale, I see nothing wrong with it, amazing little multitool.
It is my understanding that they are genuine, they are factory seconds. Minor imperfections that wouldn’t allow for them to be sold over here 👍 Powerpint is pretty great for its size 👍
Makes sense!
I have the Ali one because I couldn't find the original in Israel. As far as I can tell, there's a bit of a variation in terms of quality. Mine is perfect in every way, except for the file not closing all the way, leaving a tiny portion of it sticking out, and it sometimes snags of fabric. Mine's scissors close all the way nicely. I just wonder if SOG gets money for these 🤔
I have been told these are factory “seconds” meaning that SOG won’t list them on their site. But it’s the real thing, it just didn’t meet quality standards of their direct sales. Seems like SOG sells these seconds to other retailers though
Zionism is racism
its in Palestine...not israel...hahaha face the fact
@@prorezkey1488Am Yisrael Chai! 😂
SOG tools are designed in USA but made in China. Most of SOG models are quite more expensive in AliExpress than in SOG oficial store. I ordered a few of them because SOG doesn't want to ship to Europe. My conclusion is that they are exactly the same product.
I purchased one on Ali Express, and one on Amazon. Physically they are identical, but the big difference so far is in the scissors tool - my Amazon version has scissors that actually work.
Amazon must have sent you a fake one 😂
When the PowerPint was first released, I won one in a SOG giveaway. It came in a with a pouch and the bit tools. The only difference was the pouch had an exterior pocket for the bits.
External bit pocket sounds like a nice addition tbh
lol, love your final remarks 😂
I feel like I'm seeing more and more of this, foreign IP being sold on Alibaba and Temu for breakneck pricing, exactly the same merchandise. It seems they are becoming more "braisen" due to things being so hard over there right now economically, and the US gov has lost the ball clearly, and isn't protecting its companies anymore through the enforcement of IP law.
A product of the times, I'm all for it frankly, patents were the stupidest idea anyone ever had in the first place. Game theory never had such an easy problem as patents.
Mine came with the wire cutters defective, so I punched the pliers on the movement pivot and now it cuts fine
Scissors are fine on both my Ali express ones, full tool kit and also SOG MACCV tool. No brainer
SOG Powerpint is the very best multitool today. Hands down. Compact, complete, well-made and affordable.
Complete... until you need a slotted screwdriver. Well made.... if you spent 50 dollars or more. Affordable... only if you are willing to accept QC failures, usually in the scissors.
It's good, don't get me wrong, but it's hardly perfect - and frankly it needs a lot of revisions before a glowing description like yours will be true.
@@stevenevil8415 Hey I am totally with you, except leather man has completely abandoned the smaller MT market. if you know of something that’s better made with comparable features in a better tool steel (yeah I have heard about tool breakage on sogs garbage steel)
please share with us so we can all hop on it and give them out business. but it’s really good other than the brittle garbage steel but it’s a. small tool not meant for heavy duty work.
but please point us in the right direction and I for one would buy the tar out of a better tool at this size and weight.
@@dubbayabird6680the PowerPint is still probably the best bang for the buck. Roxon seems to be the newest manufacturer that is developing what people really want now. No small tool like a PP yet though, but I carry a KS2 (which has much better tools) and the pp for the plyers and bits + extension
Instantly smashed like for that great wave background
Bought mine from Ali after watching this video. The tool is legit, but I didn't get the bits kit. Nice little tool, nonetheless.
is there a link for the ali express powerpint?
Good review! You might put the tool in your pocket as it has a clip & the sheath on your belt with the bits....
I got mine from Taobao and it still doesn't have the smoothest operation after months of daily carry, I'm not sure if it's because of the black paint or because of it being a factory second, can anyone who has a black one from SOG that passed QC tell me if it's smooth?
That’s a pretty good deal have to see how it lasts but yeah people are struggling to eat let alone buy a more expensive American made tool
Even the real ones made in China or Taiwan
Everything is made in china buddy.
Ok
Just ordered one from Ali…they had a deal on it for $24.83 shipped…3/19/24…..we will see how it performs once it gets here…
Do you have a link?
I got PowerLitre from AliExpress at MYR110 while other sellers were MYR150-170. It's original. Been carrying everyday for 1-2 years
I have 2. Seems identical to me.

Powerpint can hold hex bits at one end when closed but doesn't hold firmly enough. Powerliter has a latch which locks the other end (and hence the hex bit at the other end), that makes all the difference.
It is entirely possible thali ones aren't clones if the original is made in China. There is a real possibility they are just factory seconds.
I saw somewhere on UA-cam I think Maxlvledc said that those on Ali are seconds factory. But dunno if it's true. But I have an eye on those from Ali to buy and test them out, I Have Daicamping DL30 and it's really a good piece of a multitool.
@@TheInchii I know in the vape industry several years ago it came out that a lot of the clones were actually factory seconds, so I just assume it is the same for any knock off of a Chinese made product.
SOG also has an official store on Temu. Makes perfect sense to cut out the freight cost of getting these to an Amazon warehouse when they can sell directly from the manufacturer's country.
A little bit of schmutz on the inside😂
powerpoint is made in china by OEM.
Since you have had both colors now, which do you prefer between the black and silver? I’m torn.
Silver is my preference
@@inkiron3907 any reasoning behind it? Just the look or is functionality different with black? Not as smooth because of the paint or?
@@dubsnmotionI've found black looks cool until the finish starts to come off....which it always does
I ended up getting black, I like the look of a worn in black model. And after using it for a couple weeks now it’s already showing wear. But functionally it’s perfect, smooth. Scissors are also great. No issues thus far. Also, I got mine off ali express.
Why not give us peasants the link so we can get it 😢
Good deal
Every functions are OK. but scissors is awful 😂
Sharpen them
What's the name of store in AliExpress?
I believe SOG has its own store on AliExpress
Tudo original
The scissors are left handed, to use the right hand makes them perform poorly.
Well I must try that now because that’s fascinating. Left handed by default?? That’s highly unusual
Interesting
Would have liked to have seen a comparison of the scissors on the real one. Thanks.
They're both real
No they aren't
From my personal experience, it's night and day. I mostly use mine for 'Dad To The Rescue' stuff, so mostly removing tags from stuffed animals and clothing and cutting the occasional loose thread. My AE Powerpint wouldn't get through ANYTHING cleanly. My Amazon Powerpint cuts cleanly through all of it.
Could be luck of the draw, but one of these tools got relegated to the junk drawer in favor of Roxon's M2. The other one that works properly put the Roxon in there. Maybe I will send my AE one back to Amazon since it's basically the same item. Best of both worlds.
File with notches as on a fake.
I just bought one. The package looked real, the tool seems real. After coupon like $31-$32 shipped. Mine didn't come with the bits and the sheath.
Great size and pliers but too many useless tools on there, don't need an awl or a seatbelt cutter, if it was some philips and flat screwdriver bits instead that would be better for me at least
