I Loved that too it touched me very much❤️as well momma showed him as much physical love as she possibly could I've never gotten to see that before - & look how alert that little one is!! I'll bet he's gonna be some character!! = I must say it has to be a ton of work to care for all these animals I don't know how you guys do it all ? & find some time to send us videos ? But I'm so glad you do! I'm patient I understand its alot to do to care for all these babies all by itself ive grown to love your channel very much ! I'm telling my friends all about 🙂❤️Oliver!😘🐴 ❤️ & his story & how you saved him & how hes doing so good & is such a sweet gentle giant & has a beautiful soul that you cant help but fall in love with him - thank you for all you do ❤️ & God Bless everyone there !! you guys are awesome!! ❤️👍🙂
He is a big boy. The mare is responding to him very well. Thanks for all your constant attention. Had she given birth in a field alone, she might’ve ended up in real trouble.
Poor Sioux, rough delivery for first time. Thank goodness JR knows how to be a horse midwife. Also so glad that she went to vet to get post partem stitches. What I like most about your farm is that you don't hesitate to do whatever is necessary to medically take care of your horses. You make their welfare, their health a priority. Thank you for being such kind hearted people and such responsible owners. God must smile when he looks down on your farm. He gave us dominion over the animals and that includes caring for them; and you make Him proud. Bless your family and all your animals. ❤😊
I was just thinking that a lot of women DON'T get the luxury of post partum stitches, either because of where they live in the world, or just blatant medical neglect. I had wondered with the previous mare births on this channel, what would happen if a mare tore during birthing? Same as a human, who knew? Thank you for giving your mare the utmost care guys! And thank goodness for Jr always knowing what to do for horse midwifery! He probably saved Sioux from sustaining even more injuries!
When you've been through child birth---and know all the variables that can happen----you really appreciate just how powerful and fragile life can be. It's miracle ANY of us are here!
"A sorrel!". I love that smile and twinkle in your eye JR! This is what you were born to do! Thank you and your family for sharing these special moments with us! ❤
It's just amazing that this big baby horse was able to fit inside momma. I can imagine momma must feel so much better not to have the weight and the pressure of this big baby inside her. Another beautiful baby horse enters the world!! Just amazing seeing the baby horse stand up so soon after being born, wow!! ❤❤🐴
so͞o is the correct pronunciation. Of course, people from different areas may be unaware and try to pronounce things phonetically (I get that all the time with my name lol). Gorgeous mare and foal, regardless.
When we were growing up, our family used to take road trips through the western states, spending a lot of time in the south-west. My family had a ton of good laughs at how us kids pronounced many of the names. Personal favorites were "Tuck-sun (Tucson, AR)" and "Al-buck-kwer-kwer (Albuquerque, NM)", LOL. So glad I grew up in Oklahoma, where I got plenty of practice with Native American city/town names!😊
Sorry Sioux had some issues but glad she’s doing well & little Lakota is a sweetie, he’s very alert & interested in everything around him, I think he’s going to be quite a character :)
I'm feeling so honored that Sioux's colt was named "Lakota"... made me tear up knowing that I had a part in naming this beautiful colt; and though, I'll probably never get to meet Lakota or Sioux... a bond has begun... Thank you so much, JR, Emery, and Bekha for this blessed honor... 🦋💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦋
Unfortunate for the mare that her first foal was a big one ,and mal-presented, but, thanks to the powers that be, they are both healthy - Lakota is a grand foal, and looks his colouring will be lighter than now...Welcome to the world little guy.❤
For a first time Mamma Sioux maternal instinct is fantastic. I love that you gave her and the baby some alone time to properly bond 🥰. Congratulations🎊🎊 Cheers from South America Uruguay 🇺🇾
You did absolutely the right thing. And not pulling the back legs out of mum helps her stay down for a while when she gets her second wind. I always left the cord to break naturally when mum stood up too. ❤️🐴
I'm so glad that you named him that. It's perfect!! My dad taught at the community college on the Rosebud Sioux Rez in the 1980s. I pray peace and prosperity over your farm and family. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh poor Sioux, she done an amazing job for a first time mum, Lakota certainly is a beautiful big boy 🥰, watching him laying down he’s soooo adorable, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
I like the description by the man of his helping the birth; how sensible and knowledgable he is, with great compassion and quietness. Bravo ! Such a beautiful mare and foal. 🧡🌱💚🌿
What a cute "little" guy...116 pounds was a lot for Mama to have hanging around. His coloring is just gorgeous...in a year or two he's going to make the mares hearts throb.🥰 Loving the "milk bar" is a good, good thing.😋Congrats on the addition to the herd, and will be looking forward to watching Lakota grow up.
Congratulations ! 🎉 The new Colt Lakota is so precious. Sioux is an awesome mom. Thanks to the awesome vet stitching up Sioux and taking care of her. Prayers 🙏💖 for healing. ❤😊
Awe poor Sioux on delivering her first baby. I know she is getting good care with all of you. The baby is so darn cute, and she is a good mom. God bless all of you. ❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations Sioux! What a big boy. You did so well Mama. Many blessings!!! Beautiful sight to witness. Thank you for sharing that with us. Have a blessed day! Love to the new foal, Sioux, all the other animals there and their human family!!! Precious!🤗😘❤🐴⚘⚘👻
First time mommy with such a big baby and tricky delivery, not surprised she had issues but thank God everything came out well and she's doing good. Lakota is absolutely gorgeous and an awesome name ❤️ Congratulations Sioux ❤️
I needed an episiotomy with my first child too Sioux so I sympathize!! Lakota is beautiful! Thinking of South Dakota and “Crazy Horse” popped in my head. The monument is pretty cool.
The Crazy Horse Monument in South Dakota is amazing. I first saw it in 1969 when work had barely started, then again in 1998. I need to go back to see what it looks like now.
Glad that delivery is behind her, literally.. Seems like a nurturing mare and hope she can enjoy that bonding time over the next four months to heal and focus on her colt. Oliver is so immature and she needs to replace her weight while nursing. I'm sure they will make massive babies together... Appreciate the update and the name chosen is just perfect❤
Emery, you have a lovely voice, thanks for the camera work and info along the way. Wow! 116 lbs, poor little Sioux. I sort of hope she doesn't get bred to Oliver cuz of his breed size! Rebekah did really well as assistant and JR's help was perfectly done. And yes, your vet was excellent, very thorough. 🙂
Excellent video! Excellent foaling! Enough assistance given when needed and no unnecessary interference afterward! Mark of good horsemanship! Well done all! PS...Great name!
I loved how she snuggled him with her face. He’s such a pretty boy! I respect y’all so much for giving Soix such great care! Those stitches means many more healthy births. Your channel is so important, so that kids who live in cities can actually see how much work and love go into running a horse farm🤩❗️
very good looking horses Sioux and her baby boy and thanking you for helping and very kind hearted owners given them good medical facilities God bless them with all the happiness and good health lots of love 💕💕💕💕💕😘😘😘😘😘
Watched the live just had to watch this too. What a very proud Mum.! Thank you for helping her x one of the most beautiful sights in the world and born into such a perfect loving family. Congratulations!!!!
😍🤍😍So wrapped to see everything come together as things unfold. The name of the young Colt is beautiful. Very fitting as he looks so spirited & cheeky!. Glad Mum is also doing ok despite the setbacks for a first time Mama & delivering a big Foal, she's in the right hands to have her wellbeing cared for and tended to. 🙂🤍
What a beautiful pair! She is a little protective because she had to work hard to get him here. You can't blame her! She's a wonderful mother. ❤❤congratulations🎉
You can just see how hard mama is working… but she’s so brave & courageous she is despite her exhaustion… that seemed like a HUGE baby for a maiden mare to expel.. I feel like she was comforted by you guy’s support but at the end when she felt like she didn’t need you any more she let you know you were dismissed… LOL another great video from you guys! Lakota is already showing such a sweet & intelligent character…I think little Mama Sue gets the gold star for her unwavering effort despite the pain ( those stitches prove how much!)& her long difficult week added to her exhaustion…no wonder she wanted to take her time getting to her feet…! Great job Papa JR in assisting her perfectly (imo…) another lovely & informative video from you guys…❤
Lakota is a handsome guy...and he took to being handled and trailer loaded very well... Doctor did a great job.. especially explaining what he was looking for .. and appreciate his letting you film him ..best to you and Sioux...
What a gorgeous foal. And so big too. I'm wondering if he was maybe stronger because he was more developed (being nearly a year in the womb) and so maybe that is why he was able to stand up at the first go? Congratulations on your three new spring baby foals -- it is going to be so much fun to watch them play together. Will you put them out together after they've all got stronger a little bit older? Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful farm and family.
Thanks for compiling this video. I was lucky enough to watch the live and was thrilled with Sioux, her healthy goal and her proud farm family! Lakota looks like he is uplight with the lighter coloring on legs & belly. It will be fun to watch this handsome boy grow!
362 days 😳 God Bless her. My goodness!!! She’s a sweetheart and her baby is adorable. Thank you for sharing with us 💜 Awww just saw she tore 😞 poor thing. As a momma I know that feeling. I was a vet tech for 4.5 years while in high school and nursing school. This veterinarian was absolutely wonderful - his concern for keeping Lakota close to his momma because of her concern and nervousness meant everything. What a blessing.
He is such a pretty color. Everything I know about horses I’ve learned from you. Don’t usually watch horse videos but I find yours fascinating. Thanks! 🥰💕❤️👍👍
So good to see your care & love for these animals, knowing when & how much to help in the birth without intefering & getting help from the vet the next day. If only more people were as kind to their animals. I love the clean indoor area you put them in & all the appropriate feed. Beautiful to watch. Thank you.
What a big baby boy, and legs that go on forever. I love how she caressed him with her neck & head, she's going to be an awesome momma. 🥰
Momma and baby are precious, especially sweet was the bonding as he lay there beside her, while she ran her head up and down his full length.
I Loved that too it touched me very much❤️as well momma showed him as much physical love as she possibly could I've never gotten to see that before - & look how alert that little one is!! Hi from England. Lucky little man to be born into such a knowledgeable and loving family. Hope he always meets kindness. X
It was so cute when Sioux was laying her neck against Lakota. She's a good mom with a big baby boy! 😁👍❤️
Praying Souix heals with no problem. Lakota is so big & adorable. I’m glad Souix is taking care of him. Good Mama❤️🐴💕
He is a big boy. The mare is responding to him very well. Thanks for all your constant attention. Had she given birth in a field alone, she might’ve ended up in real trouble.
I was thinking the same thing! 😢

Wonderful to watch!!! I loved it!!!!!!!!
When you've been through child birth---and know all the variables that can happen----you really appreciate just how powerful and fragile life can be. It's miracle ANY of us are here!
How beautiful is this video. Congratulations. Wonderful mama, perfect baby boy. Take good care of them both and yourselves.❤❤
So sweet. ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
"A sorrel!". I love that smile and twinkle in your eye JR! This is what you were born to do! Thank you and your family for sharing these special moments with us! ❤

Your pronunciation of Sioux is unique. I grew up in South Dakota and we aways pronounced it like "Soo". Beautiful colt!
I’m from Texas and that is the way it is pronounced here as well. It took me a bit to understand what she was calling the mare.
Same
so͞o is the correct pronunciation.
"Soix" is a family name from when the kids were little. They know how the name is pronounced, it's just a nickname
The new colt is adorable, couldn’t ask for a more beautiful horse! Congratulations 🎊
Watching that baby fight off sleep was adorable. I guess babies everywhere don’t want to sleep until their bodies demand it!
You are such a loving and caring family farm! Blessings to Sioux and Lakota.
Sorry Sioux had some issues but glad she’s doing well & little Lakota is a sweetie, he’s very alert & interested in everything around him, I think he’s going to be quite a character :)
I'm glad Sioux is doing well and Lakota looks very healthy, I think.

Oh congrats! So wonderful! 🐴
It is a perfect name! ❤
😂❤😂yes!! It's a beautiful name for the little fellow!😊
Thank you for the suggestion!!😂
Poor girl ❤❤❤
Such a great first time mommy! And the colt is adorable 😊
Love the way you put the story together !! What a beautiful thing
Great name for the foal .
Yes! Props for the editing. I know it takes hours❤
She looked so tired after, but what a brilliant mother she’s being to her beautiful foal. 🥰
Seeing their blazes side by side for the first time was and is one of the most touching and beautiful moments I have ever seen.
Same - and what is really stunning is that their blazes look exactly the same - even the little knit on the left eye 😍 Amazing!
Sioux is a beautiful mare. How sweet she is. That first cuddle from her with the foal 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️♥️❤️. His blaze is almost identical to his mumma’s!
Thats what I noticed also
Unfortunate for the mare that her first foal was a big one ,and mal-presented, but, thanks to the powers that be, they are both healthy - Lakota is a grand foal, and looks his colouring will be lighter than now...Welcome to the world little guy.❤
And Lakota seems to know the camera already. He is cute and glad mom is doing good.

That is so sweet to see them bonding immediately. Big foal! 💖
❣️❣️❣️Lakota❤️ So happy baby and momma are doing well and are healthy! 👍
Her being a first time Mama she's a fantastic mama
Hopefully you give momma a break! Let her get her strength back and enjoy her First baby! She looks a bit underweight! Enjoy the new addition!🐎🐴🦋
Sioux is a very sweet Mom. The way she rubbed her head on Lakota was beautiful. She is a fine looking horse, and so is her baby. :)
I'm so glad that you named him that. It's perfect!! My dad taught at the community college on the Rosebud Sioux Rez in the 1980s. I pray peace and prosperity over your farm and family. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Lakota is so precious! You can already see ornery all over his face! ❤
Right away I noticed Lakota's blaze looks a lot like Mama's. Good looking foal. And Sioux. Glad all is well.
Poor Momma had a rough time 😢. Lakota is a beautiful little boy 🎉❤. Congratulations on a success birth !!!

So glad both mother and baby are well, the name like him is beautiful.
Lakota thinks to himself, "Belly full? Check. Mama close by? Check. Nap time? Check, check, and double check." ❤
What a great mother!

Such a cute colt, with all the trouble!
First time mommy with such a big baby and tricky delivery, not surprised she had issues but thank God everything came out well and she's doing good. Lakota is absolutely gorgeous and an awesome name ❤️ Congratulations Sioux ❤️
I'm from North Dakota - the Sioux & Lakota are very prominent here! I love your beautiful horses!!😊

Really amazing and beautiful. That first breath.
Congratulations on the birth of the new, little guy! He's got the coloring of a little deer mouse with that light underside. What a handsome fellow! 🥰

Awwww, another new baby. Good job Sioux ❤ Love his name Lakota 👍. He’s beautiful ❤
Your new Colt’s name is beautiful. Lakota is perfect. He will be a strong and brave horse ❤
The care given is amazing. Blessings and congratulations. This farm is an example for all farms to follow. 🤗😘😘
Crikey for a first foal. He’s huge. Prayers of healing being sent Soix’s way.
That is one big healthy foal! Congratulations! He is going to a wonderful horse. ❤️
What a gorgeous foal. And so big too. Wonderful videos. I love yr homestead. Best wishes from South Africa 🇿🇦
I'm glad you aren't breeding her so soon after giving birth. She is looking good. What a cute boy he is.
The best time to breed a mare is when she's having a "foal heat".
Alright hand up if you went through the same procedure after giving birth...I so feel for her !😮 Best wishes from England UK
Your Horses are so precious, they are truly Blessed to have you🙏✝️🙏Amen
Wondering when you guys would give an update on mamma and baby. We've seen nothing since baby was born. So happy for the update.
Lol it just takes time to create videos! So sorry! Patience, patience😉
Wow! Congratulations, so happy for you and the happy mamma! Wonderful news for you and many, many blessings to come❤
Poor mama she was in so much pain. You take such good care f your animals baby is a handsome little guy. Blessings from Mississippi
I would be nervous rebreeding her!!😧
Aww the foal is so cute hopefully baby and mama are doing well. ❤
Thanks for compiling this video. I was lucky enough to watch the live and was thrilled with Sioux, her healthy goal and her proud farm family! Lakota looks like he is uplight with the lighter coloring on legs & belly. It will be fun to watch this handsome boy grow!
Mamma Sioux and baby Lacoda are so gorgeous! I think Lacoda’s nickname should be “stretch”!!! He’s got the longest legs!!!😂😘❤🙏🏻✨
Give Lakota a huge hug from me! Wonderful birth and enjoyed meeting the new member of the ranch.
Sioux is such a good mama. She’s so sweet with her foal.
362 days 😳 God Bless her. My goodness!!! She’s a sweetheart and her baby is adorable. Thank you for sharing with us 💜 Awww just saw she tore 😞 poor thing. As a momma I know that feeling. He is such a pretty color. Everything I know about horses I’ve learned from you. Don’t usually watch horse videos but I find yours fascinating. Thanks! 🥰💕❤️👍👍
So beautiful to see baby and Mama together, just relaxing after she gives birth. ❤
Such a sweet Mom & Babe. Luv their names. ❤

No matter how many times I see a birth, it always brings tears to my eyes. Thank u for sharing
Awwwllll little Sioux I feel your pain mama LOVE Y'ALL💜🐴💜🐴
Sioux is such a good mother…look at her bond with her son! Precious…
Lakota is so sweet...big strong boy with mom's blaze markings.
Good to have humans to help. Rough but not bad for a first timer. She was amazing. I absolutely love how nature just falls into place.
