The iPad Mini 2 (formerly marketed as the iPad mini with Retina display) is a tablet computer produced and marketed by Apple. It has a nearly identical design to its predecessor the first-generation iPad Mini, but features internal revisions such as the addition of the A7 system-on-a-chip and 2,048 x 1,536 resolution Retina Display. Internally, the second-generation iPad Mini has nearly the same hardware as its sibling device, the iPad Air (1st generation). Apple released the second-generation iPad Mini in space gray and silver colors on November 12, 2013.
The iPad mini 2 supported 6 major iOS versions, which go by iOS 7, iOS 8, iOS 9, iOS 10, iOS 11, and iOS 12. The iPad mini 2 was the first iPad mini to support 6 major versions, and receive full support for all of them. It is also the first 64-bit iPad mini
It also includes a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.2 MP FaceTime HD front-facing camera, support for 802.11n Wi-Fi networking, and an estimated 10 hours of battery life.
The audio playback of the second-generation iPad Mini is in stereo with two speakers located on either side of the lightning connector. The second-generation iPad Mini is available with 16, 32, 64 or 128 GB storage.

Update, I’m typing on the iPad Mini 2, it’s okay slightly slow but for 2013 it’s good.

2024 and still typing this on iPad mini 2 and it’s still working fine as mine has 32 gb

Recommended my mom this ipad for her use and shes loving it! For $50 this is still a good value ipad just for watching netflix, youtube, and listening to spotify

I had the 16gb version and it’s still on with very broken screen battery is until dying but is a good machine for me it’s a masterpiece the time when apple makes reliable stuff and powerful stuff ive got this ipad in 2015 and its very powerful for an 2015´s tablet

I have this iPad and it's really fast on the internet, downloading apps is fast and social media is fast. Mine is 32gb and I have 50 apps and still have loads of space left.
it's 2024 and I'm still using the ipad mini 2 for spotify at work. couldnt let it go as it does the job pretty well.

Using the mini2 now, it’s mostly an external screen for my laptop or for the kids to watch UA-cam , “system data” takes up 10GB of 16GB on here so it can’t hold too much but safari works fine as mentioned.

I got my iPad Mini 2 free from Verizon, when I bought the (then) top-of-the-line iPhone 6s Plus for $199! I’ve never seen a deal like that since. I don’t use my iPad that often, but I wanted to use it today in the kitchen while I was doing some baking. It will not download UA-cam. From your video, I’m wondering if it’s trying to download the more up-to-date version that I have on my iPhone 12 Pro. If you think that’s the problem, how would I download an earlier version of UA-cam to my iPad? And if I do so, will it put the older version on my phone, as well?
Literally, mine bricked itself at 2 years. I cannot get it to work in spite of doing a full reset. Now I can't even download the old apps.

Mine still can be use as music stations when connected to bluetooth speaker and play Music UA-cam or Apple Music.
Also this device still can play netflix, disney+, prime video so convenient to have small tablet that can play updated movies.. plus if you using TWS it'll be fantastic because the spatial effect of the videos can be enjoyed too..
Luckily my fav legacy apps for manga reader (aggregator) still have it before removed from the apps store so still enjoyed reading manga from this device..

still using it above head in my bed for: 1080p Plex, Twitch, UA-cam, VLC videos and media, Microsoft RDP, most apps do not get any updates anymore for example FB and Chrome, it’s not very good for surfing because it’s slow and outdated but 1080p videos run smooth without any issues

The one I have that’s is the mini 1 which got only 2 years of update as its processor is very very low

I just turned on my mini 2 after a couple years. It seems to get pretty hot just surfing the web. Kinda stupid since it did this same task effortlessly a decade ago. It’s not like I’m running a game or anything. I’ll just use it to watch UA-cam I guess.
I’m using a iPad 2 mini rn! It has 32gb and some things I wish that there would be some newer feature but it’s still a great iPad for its price. 😊

Nice little machine, great longevity (mine still "works" fine), but many popular apps are no longer supported or upgradable, which is slowly making it less and less usable. :( Maybe I can use it as a small photo frame? I think I got my $49.95 out of it (AT&T special and it had cellular as well as WiFi). Of course, I had to have it on cellular for a year to get that price, but I think it was all of $10/mo. back then.
There is a workaround to download outdated apps and it's really simple no need for jailbreak. I'm now able to use Skype and many others which would otherwise be impossible

I have 3 of them. One completely shattered with a half ripped off screen on iOS 9.3.5, one jailbroken on iOS 12.5.5 and one with a big ugly iPad kid case on iOS 12.5.7.

notes apps like goodnotes require a higher ios and this ipad only goes to 12. you can probably still take notes using the apple notes.

You could downgrade this to iOS 10 and play old iPad games with it
At that point, just get an iPad 2 and downgrade that to iOS 6.

the celluar one lets you put a sim card in to connect to the internet when you are outside the wife version can just go online when it’s connected to wifi
